“Even the strong force of fate can’t blow the coming storm off course.”Until they were eleven years old, identical twins Saul and Tanner Reiz were inseparable. Then a terrible accident sent Saul spiraling down a delinquent path that ultimately spurred him to run away from home. And so Tanner wandered into an average adulthood alone, while Saul wandered into something altogether…different. But when … altogether…different.
But when a case of mistaken identity unexpectedly throws Tanner and Saul back together after twelve long years of separation, the brothers find themselves stumbling through a race to stop a dangerous magic conspiracy that’s been building in the shadows of the world for generations.
Three innocent girls have been kidnapped. A dangerous weapon has been stolen. And a deadly ritual has been set in motion that, if successful, could disastrously alter the course of the future.
Saul and Tanner have mere hours to unravel the mystery and rescue the girls. But the enemies they face harken back to a time of myth and legend, populated by knights and wizards and powers beyond belief. So if the brothers can’t quickly reconcile their decade’s worth of differences, they may very well lose the battle…and the world may lose the war.

I am a fan of Arthurian legend, so when I received this novel, I wondered if the author was going to deliver a new take on the King Arthur legend. Boy, did she ever! The contemporary world of hidden magic that the author created is not so different from that created by other authors. The defining twist is the reincarnation of past prominent magic-users and how they come to know their former selves. That is different and profoundly life-altering, particularly for brothers Saul and Tanner Reiz. Now that the author has sucked me into this mythos, I have to find out what happens next.

A Knight of Cold Graves by Clara Coulson is definately a wonderful story that I have read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new story that I have read and fell in love with. I can not wait to read the next book in this wonderful series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about magic, thrillers and fantasy in their books.

This PG13 preternatural procedural truly requires two full days. DO NOT try to do what I tried to do, which is to read it straight through in one. Covid19 requires a healthy immune system to combat it and going without sleep is NOT good for keeping the immune system healthy. In any case, our story starts with Kim Ballard, in her mid20s, guarding something under her little cottage on the outskirts of Sandwick in the Shetland Islands and then shifts to Tanner (Ph.D. in medieval literature) and Saul (FBI) Reiz, 28, Waterford, CT and that is truly all I can tell you without risking a spoiler. I had an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
I’ve been a long-time fan of this author, and I have loved every book I’ve read by her. I was excited to see this new series, but I was a little hesitant to try it both because I am not a fan of high fantasy, and I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. However, I dived in to try it anyway. After a little bit of a slow start, I was hooked. This is not really a high fantasy, just a more detailed urban fantasy; I think the sword on the front threw me off, but that just because it has elements of Arthur in it (you’ll see!). I just loved the twins Saul and Tanner, and I can’t wait to get to know them more. The plot is interesting and different, and the book is very action-packed. Again, after a little bit of a rough/slow start (get through it), this book is terrific, and I can’t wait for more. Recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
