New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux will capture your heart with signature classic novel, a time-travel romance featuring a present-day heroine and a dashing hero from the sixteenth century Abandoned by a cruel fate, lovely Dougless Montgomery lies weeping upon a cold tombstone in an English church. Suddenly, the most extraordinary man appears. It is Nicholas Stafford, Earl of … Stafford, Earl of Thornwyck…and according to his tombstone he died in 1564.
Drawn to his side by a bond so sudden and compelling it overshadows reason, Dougless knows that Nicholas is nothing less than a miracle: a man who does not seek to change her, who finds her perfect, fascinating, just as she is. What Dougless never imagined was how strong the chains are that tie them to the past…or the grand adventure that lay before them.
Hailed worldwide as one of the most romantic novels of all time, A Knight in Shining Armor is “a glorious love story that spans centuries, worlds, and souls. It is the epitome of every woman’s fantasy” (Chicago Daily Herald).more
A classic read!
This is one of my all time favorite books. I read it years ago and at least 3 times since. If you haven’t read books by this author, I highly suggest you do, especially her older books. Just love the Montgomery and Taggert stories.
I have read many time travel books over the years. This is and always will be one of my all time very favorite books. I even keep a hard cover copy just so I can reread it any time I want.

Read this years ago and it is still a favorite!
Jude Deveraux is a great author in the romance department.
I loved this book. In fact I bought the hardcover copy when it first came out along time ago. Cried at the ending even when I had reread it 4 times! Excellent just wish the ending had been different!
Oh, boy… I have never wanted to strangle a heroine more in my life. I read this book at the recommendation of a friend and I was instantly drawn to this armored hunk.
Reality, in the form of the fool she was involved with only made this time traveler more endearing and phenomenal.
Talk about a happy ending.
This is one of those books that I can’t explain why I like it so much but I totally do. I’ve actually read it several times- which I agree, is completely weird. Jude Deveraux’s historical fiction I find to always be informative and this is no different. The characters here are quite lovely and the story is very sweet. Good non formula romance novel.
This is my favorite book by Jude Deveraux. Douglass and Nicholas are great characters. I also like the whole time travel thing. Sometimes time travel a little hard to understand.
I loved this book when it was first published and was my first Jude Deveraux book. It is a wonderful time travel romance about the power of an enduring true love for the ages.
I have owned and re-read this book for years. It is one of my top 10 books of all time! A beautiful time travel story.
This is one of my all time favorite books. Loved the characters!
One of my all-time favorites. Read it years ago.. and read it again just a few years ago.. and again a year ago.. and a few months ago..
This was the very first book of Jude’s I read and loved her immediately as an author. The time travel element of this book captured my interest immediately and I loved how she wove it into the book, making it seem so natural and believeable.
This is one of my favorite books of all time. I read it first when I was rather young, and it has stayed with me so vividly. From the infuriating depiction of an abusive relationship, to the humorously chivalrous time-traveling hero, it has all the elements of a masterpiece. I cried my eyeballs out.
The ending is both heartbreaking and hopeful, and far more memorable than all of the hundreds of basic happy endings I’ve read.
I go back to this book every few years, and it is like visiting an old friend.
