This novella was packed with all the right ingredients from page one to the very final word. I loved every moment spent in New Orleans at the infamous Chateau Rouge with Chloe. After leaving her past and its painful memories behind she finds herself in this new town and new job title. The journey was one that I devoured quickly, like most Jolie St. Amant novels that I have had the pleasure of reading. This can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend going back and getting the rest of the series that is available. They are equally enjoyable and fun reads. I will be sure to continue to follow this author and series!
“I’ve been offered a job at a hotel in New Orleans,” Chloe Devereaux Montgomery said. She looked down at the gleaming black marble countertop. She refused to look her husband, Chandler, in the eye. Instead she focused on the swirls and sparkles on the kitchen counter.
He laughed. “And? It’s not like you’re going to take it. Why would you move there?” He said “there” with a sneer. Chandler gestured around the house, pointing at the paintings, the modern sculptures, and the furniture that cost more than some people made in a year. “You would leave this? You would leave everything I have given you?”
“I already have,” she said, and even as a whisper, the words echoed through the kitchen.
“What are you saying?”
She looked up then, into his expressionless blue eyes. “I took the job. I’m moving to New Orleans. My bags are packed and I’m leaving today.”
He laughed again. “You’re joking, right?”
“No, I’m not. I’m leaving, Chandler. I’ve packed everything I want there’s no need for anything else. You’ll be hearing from my attorney soon for a divorce.”
“But you can’t leave. What will the people think? We have campaign fundraisers coming up! I have a campaign!”
“You know what? I really don’t care.” She placed the house key and her wedding ring on the countertop and walked out the door. She never looked back.
I give A Kiss To Build a Dream On (That Voodoo That You Do Book 3) by Jolie St. Amant, 5 stars.
Chloe seemingly has it all. But in reality, she’s in a loveless marriage and does not feel like she has an identity of her own. When a job application she submitted on a whim is accepted, she decides that this her chance. New Orleans is a place of magic and this what she’s wanted for a long time. But she will find more than she bargained for in this town of magic and mystery?
The third in a series that is set around the Chateau Rouge Hotel, this is a wonderful story of romance and mysterious people. If you have read the previous books in the series, you will understand the secondary characters more, but it is not necessary for the main part of this story. A short read, it is amazing just how much the author can pull you in such a short amount of time. The characters are written perfectly, and the story is captivating. You really feel for Chloe and hope the best for her. I could not put this book done and was pleasantly surprised at some of the things I did not except throughout the book.
If you like your romance with a bit of action set in a wonderful setting, this book is for you.
A Kiss To Build A Dream On by Jolie St Amant is the third book in The Voodoo That You Do series. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
Chloe is unsatisfied with her life. Dreaming of living in New Orleans she passes away the days imagining what her life would be like if she did. So when she is offered a job in her dream city she doesn’t hesitate to accept. At the end of the day nothing is keeping her where she is, not even her loveless relationship.
New Orleans turns out to be everything she could have hoped for. And more when she reconnects with an old school friend. With the connection between them growing each day nothing can ruin Chloe’s new life. Nothing except her past, which had a nasty way of catching up to you.
I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this book as I wasn’t starting at the beginning of the series. I shouldn’t have worried as this book sucked me in immediately. I loved how relatable Chloe was – who hasn’t wished for their life or some part of it to be different at one time or another? Watching her grab her dreams with both hands was both satisfying and entertaining. I cannot wait to go back and add on the first two books in this series.
A Kiss To Build a Dream On (That Voodoo That You Do Book 3 by Jolie St. Amant is a paranormal romance book. It is set in a city of New Orleans where everything from ghosts to voodoo is at your fingertips. It is a very short story that can be read in one sitting and with the way Jolie writes about the place gives you can imagine the rich vibrant feel from the history and enough mysticism to make it a story that comes alive. I loved reading and didn’t want to put down until I had finished the final page. This is one easy read and very enjoyable. Grab a drink and get lost in the story.
A Kiss To Build A Dream On
By Jolie St. Amant
A Kiss To Build A Dream On is book three in the Chateau Rouge series by Jolie St. Amant. The imagination that has been put into this book is simply amazing. This book is absolutely amazing, and for me it finished too soon there is so much more that can happen. Anyway, this amazing story is set in New Orleans and as like New Orleans this book has mystery and magic within its covers. This story centres around Chloe, who has just had an interview for a position at Chateau Rouge. Chloe has her interview and accepts the job before telling her husband Chandler. Getting this job will enable her to leave her over bearing horrible husband and start to life her life in the way she chooses. Excited about this position Chloe leave for New Orleans, her new life and Chateau Rouge which will become her temporary home. Or will it become her permanent home? Chateau Rouge is filled with mystery and magic, Chloe doesn’t know this but the other characters in the book love having Chloe home. Will Chloe find out about the mystery and magic of the place she now calls home? When Chloe arrives at Chateau Rouge she is surprised to see Jared, Jared is a friend from school who help tutor her. Jared has always want to have Chloe in his arms and now maybe his time. Chloe is even more surprised when she finds out that not only is Jared staying at the same hotel, but on the same floor and just next door. Will Chloe be able to return the same feelings to Jared that he has had for her since school? Will Chandler wear Chloe down and take her back home? More importantly will Chloe find out about the mystery and magic of Chateau Rouge. This was an awesome read.

A Kiss to Build a Dream On is the third book in the Chateau Rouge series by Jolie St. Amant. It is a captivating paranormal romance set in New Orleans. And again, as with the other books in this series, Ms. St. Amant’s vivid imagery and rich, descriptive details really brought all the sights and sounds of this colourful and historic city to life, right before my eyes. This series is fast becoming a favourite of mine, and even though the books are short novella sized stories, they pack a lot in a short amount of space and feel like a much longer novel. Technically you could read this book as a standalone, but each instalment in the series is like a piece to a much bigger picture, all intricately woven along the same time-frame as the other books in the series. So, having said that, I really recommend reading ‘Dream A Little Dream of Me’ (Book #1) and ‘Hard Hearted Hannah’ (Book #2) to fully appreciate the rich tapestry that the author is creating. Each new book adding more ‘strokes’ and ‘layers’ to the overall picture.
In this book we meet Chloe Deveraux who accepts a new job interstate and leaves her unhappy marriage, husband, home, and life behind- to start fresh in New Orleans, a city she’s long held a fascination for. Her new job is at the Chateau Rouge- where she’s the new P.R manager and Chloe will be staying at the hotel while she settles into the job and city. She is so excited about exploring the city, wanting to experience everything the New Orleans has to offer. Her new beginning really kicks off when she has a drink spilt on her in the bar on her first night in town.
Jared Peterson is an IT and computer guru with his own software firm. He’s in town on business, which happens to be at the Chateau Rouge, where he is also staying. When he accidentally spills a drink on a gorgeous woman at the hotel bar he is surprised to recognise his high school crush. Chloe hasn’t changed in the years since he saw her last, but she doesn’t immediately recognise him. He’s been crazy about her in high school and he’s determined not to waste this opportunity to reacquaint himself with her, and hopefully it will develop into more. But Chloe is ready for a fresh start and to enjoy her freedom- not get tied down a man again. But as they spend time together, Chloe can’t help but feel drawn to Jared. Will she lower her guard and let him in, or will she allow her fears to prevent her taking a chance on love?
This is a great addition to the series and I love how each book reveals a little more about New Orleans, and the history of the recurring characters and Chateau Rouge. Everything is so intricately connected. Small details that all blend together to produce the larger picture. I loved that with this story we got a bit more of Alcide’s story- he’s such a mysterious character, I loved uncovering those details about him.
A story rich in history- with wonderful characters, an intriguing storyline, suspense, drama, mystery, tension, new beginnings, the paranormal, and a touch of Fate….. makes this a sweet and memorable read!
I wonder who we get to meet in the next book?
Thank you, Ms. St Amant!
A Kiss To Build a Dream On by Jolie St. Amant is a fun, quick read. The novella centers around Chloe who is new to New Orleans. She has left her ex who was a controlling husband and struck out on her own. She has found herself a new job at the Chateau Rouge and her life begins to turn around. There are several books in this series but I read this as a standalone. There are some characters who work at the Chateau Rouge that seem more developed and I assume are from other books but they helped to guide and hold the story together. This is a fun, light read that I read through quickly. It has some corny moments but that is what helped to keep it light. I overall enjoyed the story and will be looking for the other books in the series to delve into the characters a little further.
A Kiss To Build A Dream On by Jolie St. Amant
5 Stars!!!!!
For such a short book boy is this one a firecracker! I have fallen in love with this series. It is such a breath of fresh air. This book is proof that length has nothing to do with a good book. I love how the author is able to spin her tails and draw you into the world she has created and keeps you glued to the pages.
Chloe and Jared have such an explosive chemistry. The whole fact that she was like the unattainable to Jared is so relateable and makes this book so easy to identify. I like how the author is able to bring the characters pasts to life in the present and how the characters all tie in from ones in the past. I also like how the author is able to show that it is possible to step out from a relationship where you are unhappy and you can and you do deserve to be happy. I really enjoy this author’s works and cannot wait to read more from her and this series!
A Kiss To Build A Dream Of
(the Voodoo That You Do Book 3)
By Jolie St. Amant
This is the third book in Jolie St. Amant’s the Voodoo That You Do Series and it’s definitely a page turner. I absolutely love the cover of this novella and honestly those of the whole series.
The storytelling is just as captivating and truly fulfilling with just 83 pages.
I enjoyed being reunited with characters from the previous books and the way the story twists in turns, never going over the top. Jolie St. Amant is a captivating storyteller and I look forward to exploring her writing even more.

A Kiss To Build a Dream On is the third book in That Voodoo That You Do Series by Jolie St. Amant. This is the first book I have read by Ms. St. Amant, so this book can be read as a stand alone, however I found this short story so fascinating that I’m going to go and read the first two books in the series. this book has a unique take on your usual ghost story. I love Chloe and Jared, but the secondary characters as well as the Chateau Rouge really make this story come together. It your looking for a quick romance with magic and wonderful ambiance of New Orleans, this is a great choice.

This is my third story by this author and I loved it as much as the others. I loved returning to The Chateau Rouge and being able to visit so many of the characters from the other books I’ve read. I want to put all these together and when she is finished with this series I would love to read them all back to back, although I could read about this hotel and its adventures for many many more books.
I loved the little mini twists and turns that occurred in this book, nothing earth shattering, but perfectly placed and she keeps you on your toes. I love books that make me sit and think about things as I read them, even ones like this that make me remember something that happened in another book. This has just the right amount of humor and again I’ve never visited New Orleans but this author makes me want to really bad, and during Halloween would be awesome!!
I loved it and read it in one sitting and absolutely can not wait to read more!!
This novella grabbed my attention immediately. I appreciated the detail, the plot development, and just the way in which the author wove the tale. I couldn’t put the book down and found myself greatly enjoying it. A first from this author, I look forward to reading more from them and for the series as well.

I’m not sure if this book was suppose to be funny but I laughed a lot. The story is a little confusing at first because you don’t really know what’s going on. Chole leaves her cushioned life behind to head to New Orleans. I always associate all things mysterious and weird with New Orleans. It’s a place a feel anything can happen. Old friends reunite and even old lovers. The author did really well for a short story. I usually want more details and more background. But I was content with how this story began and ended.
A Kiss to Build a Dream On by Jolie St. Amant was a fast, sweet, entertaining read.
This was first time reading a book by this author as well in this series. When I say it was a quick read, I mean it clocks in at 83 pages, so less then a hour reading. It’s a perfect little book for a lazy afternoon, beach, or even work commute.
Lets get into this, I will say that this book wasn’t as solid as I would have liked it to be, it felt a little choppy in places. Not so much between the hotel staff, they were sleek and mysterious, but when Chloe enter the picture. Don’t get me wrong she had a strong opening, it was just, she was a bit all over the place. Her and Jared’s romance was for me, felt forced at the start. I did warm up to them towards then end, but their meeting and, just him being her old high school friend/nerd.. just didn’t sit well with me.(Not that he was that, it was, I don’t know, I wish his appearance wouldn’t have been the polder opposite of what he was then.) This would also be because there wasn’t much meat to the actual plot.
As for the plot, I did like it. Chloe is trying to find herself after years of being under her ex-husbands thumb. I liked her drive, and the power I felt from her when she walked away form that asshat. As for said ex, there is a scene at the end where karma gets him, I just wish that scene was showcased, it was still creepy, but I just wanted a little more.
I think half my problem with this short was that it was just that, too short. There wasn’t enough time for me to connect with the MC’s. Which is weird because the Hotel staff, I felt a connection to them. Maybe because they are featured in the other books, and the author has has more time to develop and write about them. I think a full length novel about them, and their hotel would be freaking outstanding.
Overall this wasn’t a bad read, I very much enjoyed myself. There are so eye roll moments, I mean, cheese, holy hell there are some cheesy moments.. but guess what? I love the cheese! A guilty pleasure of mine, and this book, even though I wasn’t sucked in as much as I wanted, still had me hooked. There was this, easy to it, a mystery and it felt smoky.. like a old speakeasy.
So please Ttke my high recommendation that you will enjoy this snap of a read, with all the passion, glitter and magic that is New Orleans.
Happy Reading

A Kiss To Build A Dream On is the third book in the That Voodoo That You Do series by Jolie St Amant.
Chloe leaves a loveless relationship and moves to News Orleans for a better job opportunity and a fresh start.
“I’ve been offered a job at a hotel in New Orleans,” Chloe Devereaux Montgomery said. She looked down at the gleaming black marble countertop. She refused to look her husband, Chandler, in the eye. Instead, she focused on the swirls and sparkles on the kitchen counter.”
She is drawn to Chateau Rouge Hotel where she works as well as the town. There she meets into an old classmate, Jared Petersen. Will this a second chance at love?
I really enjoyed this novella. It was a magical short read that really drew you into the world.
From the beginning, I was hooked.
I need to go back and read the rest of this series.
What an enchanting, fun read! It was just a straight up joy from beginning to end. This is the first I’ve read by this author and I loved it. Set in New Orleans, and filled with fun places, tradition, and the beauty and uniqueness of the location.
Chloe is looking for a fresh start, and it looks like she will find that and so much more. This is a bit of a second chance romance, mixed with a bit of magic and mystique. I enjoyed all the characters from the hotel as well. There was a happy ending and I would totally read more in this series.
A quick novella that packs quite a punch. There are so many elements to this story. It can up be a travel journal or an app recommendation, a romance and more.
We get to revisit characters from previous books and see how the puzzle pieces fit.
FANTASTIC
A great read about trying new things. Wanting to escape her loveless marriage, Chloe Devereux applies for a new job at the Chateau Rouge hotel in New Orleans. When she bumps into an old friend at a ghost tour, they reconnect instantly and chloe continues her grand adventure.
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. The sense of adventure and Chloe’s exuberance to try everything was perfectly written and made for a captivating
read.
Well developed characters like Chloe standing up for herself while exploring new things or Jareds kind nature while not giving up.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the decor of the hotel and the blue paint or the Halloween decorations in the street eerie but beautiful.I also loved the use of contrasts in particular between the cathedral and the street with all the senses which was beautifully written and immersive as if you were there. I also adored the sound of the city being like a heartbeat which was beautifully done and a great addition to the sense of family in the novel.Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.
What an enjoyable read my eyes were glued to the pages and i read the novella in 20 mins just couldn’t put it down. It kept me guessing and i really enjoyed the journey i was taken on. I was able to visualise everything which made it such a wonderfully written story one that i was left disappointed and i certainly can’t wait to read more from this author. It can be read as a standalone but i would say read previous books from this author you will not be disappointed at all!

Another amazing 5 star read by Jolie St. Amant! I absolutely love her stories and again I couldn’t take my eyes off this one! I read it in less than 30 minutes. I loved seeing all the characters from the previous books and meeting Chloe and Jared too. I liked Chloe straight away, I loved her ghost app and the things that popped up on it, and I knew she was perfect for a role at Chateau Rouge. I still love how (trying not to give away spoilers here) that the author keeps you guessing about the characters and who they actually are. They are definitely amongst my favourite set of characters! Again I loved the author’s descriptions of New Orleans and I felt like I was right there along with Chloe and Jared.
I hope there is more to come from this series there are still a few characters I want to know more about!! Fabulous novella that you should definitely one click today!!!! This book could be read as a standalone.
