Lies, love, lust and power. Bestselling author Ella Fields delivers a sexy, gritty, wickedly addictive fantasy romance. All my life, I’d known my marriage would be arranged. What I never expected was to fall in love. My betrothed was arrogance dressed in royal finery, and I longed to both disappear and step closer whenever he entered the room.As princess of the Moon Kingdom, and daughter of the … Moon Kingdom, and daughter of the cruelest king our land had ever seen, I was well-versed in deceit and debauchery. The Sun Kingdom’s sly prince was no threat to me.
Assuming that was a grave mistake. For the ever-present smirk, irritating charm, and adoring gleam in his eyes began to melt the ice encasing my heart.
All too soon, hatred turned to love. I was captured by something I’d rarely experienced before—happiness.
But I should’ve known better.
After all, I’d been raised by a monster. And little did I know I was about to marry one.

“It was ice and fire and wine and water— a world of contradictions that should never meet.”
Let me start by saying this book is so far beyond phenomenal ,its absolutely amazing, the world that ella creates is something to be completely mesmerized by.
Audra a beautiful queen who’s heart was turned cold and brutal by the ultimate betrayal .
“I want him to look at me and see what he’s done. To feel it all and suffer beneath the weight of his betrayal.”
2 kingdoms at war ,blood will surely be drained … this is fantasy at it’s best and romance that makes your heart whole.
“Find me in the darkness”—my favourite line EVER!!
A super fantastic read that will leave you needing more, its dark and oh so steamy with lies and deceit around every corner throw in magic and betrayal and you know you’ve got an epic fantasy.
Brilliant characters that keep you gripped and a storyline so in depth you loose yourself within the words ,I’m so excited for what comes next .

I love a good fantasy book but A King so Cold is absolutely phenomenal. I truly don’t think I can put it into words how much I loved this book!
First thing first, I have always been an Ella Fields fan. If you haven’t read a book by her you need to stop everything and start right now. Ellas writing is always extraordinary, she never fails to wow me but Ella has truly outdone herself with A King so Cold. The story line, the characters, this world she has create is everything you need and more!
The mix between fantasy and dark romance was incredible, and when I say incredible I really do mean it. It consumed me and my every thought. I couldn’t put it down, if I had to I was left constantly thinking about it and wanting more.
The characters, were all so interesting! I don’t think I have ever said that about a book before, where every single character just pulled you in. But they truly were just all so damn intriguing, I couldn’t get enough. I don’t want to say to much but.. what I can say is that they will all put you through an emotional roller coaster. They had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
The storyline blew my mind, if you think you know which way this book is going to go, you probably need to think again. The twist and turns were all executed so well, you didn’t have time to think about it you just need to know more.
A King So Cold was one of those books were my heart was in my throat the entire time. It is captivating, vengeful, dark, magical, angsty and sinfully romantic.
If you love all those things you definitely need this book in your life.

I am going to start my review by saying I normally don’t like fantasy novels. I’ve only read a handful that I’ve enjoyed so I was quite nervous to start this one. One of the main reasons I did want to review a copy though is because Ella Fields wrote it. She’s a wonderful author and if you look at her novels, you’ll see most people would agree with me because they are all highly rated. So, I went into this one with an open mind and was SHOCKED and EXCITED to find that I enjoyed it! Ella, girl you can write! This one was dark, intriguing, and completely consuming. I started it at 11:30 pm the other night and didn’t realize I was halfway through until the early morning. I honestly didn’t want to put it down! I felt like I was transported into a new world where fantastical creatures flew in the night sky and warriors fought. It was intense but so exciting!
If you’re like me and don’t normally read this genre, I highly suggest reconsidering for this particular book. As I mentioned, Ella wrote is so well that it’s hard NOT to like it despite reservations towards the genre. If you are a fantasy read, you won’t want to miss this one! I feel like she writes like the pro’s! I may not have a lot to compare it to, but for the ones I have read this one stands EXTREMELY high on the EPIC list!
A King So Cold is not a book to be read in one sitting. It needs to be devoured slowly to enjoy the remarkable journey and the many plot twists you do not see coming. It was amazing in every way imaginable and I can not rate it highly enough. Another masterpiece! Thank you Ella!!
A King So Cold is Ella Fields latest book. This book is not like anything she has written before but it will keep you hooked from the very first page. Ella Fields embarks on a beautiful visual journey to a far away land governed by Kings and Queens that are driven by greed, power in their quest to finding love.
In true Ella Fashion she creates memorable characters that we grow to love, they are strong willed and will do anything to find the happiness they know they deserve. Secrets lies and betrayal are on the menu; but all is nothing like it seems! Just when you thought you had love figured out it throws you a curve ball forcing you to question everything you knew. Great storytelling at its best! Embark on the Ella journey you will not be sorry!
Ok, this is very hard to put in words. I’ve never read fantasy, not even Harry Potter. Because I need real people, real lifes, real stories. I know, it’s also fiction but I can’t relate to elves, faes, werwolves, vampires and the likes. But I had to give this story a chance (because, let’s face it, it’s Ella), broaden my horizon and try. The first 20 pages were really hard. I swear. And then it happened!!!!
I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know how this story evolves, how the creatures in A King So Cold live their lives, how they grow into the exceptional beings they are, how they deal with all the difficult situations they are in and how they fall in love. How they link. Ella Fields glued me to my reading chair for the length of this story and I want to read more about Audra, Zad and Raiden.
Honestly, it’s a very nice picture I painted in my head to her words. The story was intriguing, the characters are dark and beautiful. The surroundings, the creatures – everything is described in such details, you feel like you wander through the places where Audra lives and reigns.
After I got fully involved in the story, I enjoyed every word. So much. Thank you, Ella, for showing me something new and wonderful.
The fantasy genre is not my first pick honestly there are only three series that I read however this is an Ella Fields book so of course I was going to read it. I regret none of the time or the emotions expended whilst reading this book because it is EPIC and a must read.
In a King So Cold Ella transported me to the new worlds she created. The Moon Kingdom and Sun Kingdom. The imagery is absolutely amazing, you feel like you are there you see the buildings the sounds and smells are so real. In a way I didn’t expect I was captivated by both the story and characters. None of the things I love about her storytelling was missing in this book. The characterisation was insanely good. The emotions I felt gave me more mood swings than I could count. Love betrayal subterfuge she weaves it all into this amazing story that is full of angst. A royal romance, a love triangle that is intense and steamy get ready to be consumed by her best book to date.
A huge five is not enough stars.
Wow! Where do I even begin? This book was like nothing I have read by Ella before. It was amazing It’s more a fantasy setting which is a genre I haven’t read in a while. The strength in the characters, the storytelling itself, the twists and turns that have you asking yourself “WHAT?” All of it was amazing.
I loved how she portrayed Audra, the Winter Queen as tough, ruthless, but as the story went on, you realize that she is only doing what she knows, what she has seen growing up. Deep down she is capable of love and compassion but she has to keep her mask up. She only shows compassion to few and love to really only one.
I was a bit surprised at the way it all ended, but given the story and circumstances of the characters it was the only way a HEA could be found.
Am I surprised that Ella did the damn thing, again? *smirks* no. Even with branching out and writing genres Ella hasn’t tackled before it didn’t matter, because anything that she imagines turns to gold. And this world and characters she’s created is only a testament to just how brilliant her mind is.
A King So Cold consumed me. It isn’t like anything Ella has written before, but her writing remained the same. It flowed seamlessly and captured you and didn’t let go even when you reached the end. The elements within this story are just astounding. I got lost numerous times with the exceptional writing and these larger than life characters. There were times I didn’t know where this story was going, and whichever way it went though I trusted in Ella and in what she had envisioned.
With this being Ella’s first dip into writing fantasy she did it impeccably. Her storytelling is just masterful and with this book you can’t help but be transported to this magical and alluring world she’s created. I was completely awestruck and I hope Ella continues writing this genre because I need more of these extraordinary stories.
A King So Cold was a mesmerizing tale of love, friendship, heartache, loyalty, redemption, and sacrifice. I felt every emotion and then some. And it wouldn’t be Ella if she didn’t have you gasping for air with the amount of angst in this book. I was blown away with this story and these characters. A truly stunning, magical, and phenomenal book—absolute perfection.
This book was so different from any of her other books, and I loved it! I really don’t read fantasy novels, but I will read hers! This is a fantasy novel about a Queen and her King, but there are other characters throughout this book that become important. Their magic is magical. (I know I know. You have no idea how hard it is to write this review and not give too much away.)
I loved Audra. She is very young to be Queen. Most of her kingdom think she is a bad Queen because of her father’s tyrannical rule. She doesn’t show her true self to many people. She grows a lot during this book. I think a lot of that growth was because of Zadicus. I loved Zadicus. He loves her. He sees her.
I loved King Raiden too. The more of the story we get the more all of it clicks into focus. He loves Audra too, but things didn’t work out as well as he thought they would.
This story was so good. I can’t wait to see what comes next. Even if you think you don’t like to read fantasy, please give this book a chance. I can’t say I will seek out more fantasy, but I will read more of hers!
A KING SO COLD
“If you let them see your heart, do not complain when they tear it apart.”
I don’t know what to say. This story was truly beautiful. I don’t know how Ella does it! How she can write all these different stories so wonderful. And we can still recognise her in them. Whether it’s dark suspence, contemporary or fantasy. In true Ella fashion, she will mess with our hearts. She always give us heartfelt characters, with a unique and unforgettable storyline. A love that is for all eternity. She has created the perfect world of creatures, magic and royalty. The characters are everything. This story is so much more than just Audra and Raiden. Every single one was so special in this story. Every character had a purpose.
I have never read a heroine like Audra. She is definitely a favorite of mine. I loved her so much. She is dark and wicked, and is never afraid to speak her mind. If this story was told from another characters point of view, she would be the villain. But this is her story. We are in her mind. And I loved her wicked mind.
If the queen is ice, the king is fire. After the king is sent away for an unforgivable betrayal, the young queen is now ruling her land with an iron fist. Cruel and unforgiving, Audra learns of her husbands upcoming marriage to another woman. Furious, she captures him and locks him in her dungeon. But everything is not as it seems. And with a war coming, truths are reveald. And this cold queen will soon be reminded why her heart wasn’t always this cold.
This story was intense from the first chapter. It’s dark, gritty, filthy and completely magical. The angst was slowly killing me. The characters are complex. They are cruel and horrid. Caring and devoted. There’s so many truths and lies in this story. Who can you trust. Who is the villain. The twist and turns. You really need to go in blind. Don’t read any spoilers. And even if you normally don’t read fantasy, this book will grab you and never let go.
“Certain beings were better left inside the pages of a book in order to sleep well each night.”
Well, let me start with saying that this was a beast of a book. If you can finish this book in one sitting, more kudos to you. I’ve read every book Ella Fields has written simply because her writing speaks to me. She pulls you in, embraces you, rips your heart out, and somehow puts the pieces back together again. A King So Cold was no different.
I’m struggling on how to write this review without giving anything away. A King So Cold was filled with twists and turns that you just don’t see coming. There is a definite push and pull throughout the book. Now, if you have read Ella before, this is a completely different genre for her. I would classify this as fantasy romance which I’ve not really read in the past. It’s generally not a genre that I read. However, I gave it a chance because Ella Fields wrote it. I’m generally obsessed with anything she writes. This was no exception. Even with this book not in a genre I normally read, I found myself constantly trying to find times to read because it was soul consuming. Audra was one of the strongest characters I’ve read about. Then you have Zad and Raiden which both have their own perspectives and stories.
I’m not sure how Ella did it. The amount of time consuming story weaving and relationship building. Her writing kept me entertained and wanting more from this story. A King So Cold is about a world inside Ella’s mind and it is fantastic. If you are on the fence about it, but love Ella’s writing, I would say to take the plunge. If you are already a fantasy fan? What are you waiting for?!

**4.5 Stars**
Is there a genre Ella Fields doesn’t excel at? After reading A King So Cold I would have to say no. She truly is a gifted and talented author. The world building in this book is mind blowing. Flawlessly crafted and executed to perfection. This story captivated me. Not only the characters but also the world itself. The Moon kingdom and Sun kingdom. I was utterly fascinated and I also formed a crush on a certain character. The way he smoked that pipe;)
A King So Cold is a thrilling and entertaining fantasy but most importantly it’s a romance. The romance is ever so present in these spellbinding pages. It’s the heart and soul of A King So Cold. Add in all the elements of the fantasy genre and I was hypnotized and transported to another world.
All I can say is just go in blind and hold on. A King So Cold is a riveting ride that while I was reading I was hoping for more. More of this universe and of these characters. I might just get my wish.
4.5 Find Me In The Darkness Stars
What a wonderful fantasy tale woven so perfectly that I was biting my nails with every single twist. The characters were brought to life so vividly that they were almost coming off the pages. Audra is the evil, dark Queen who was betrayed by her new husband, Prince…now King Raiden. Lord Zadicus is willing to fill King Raiden’s shoes and her bed…but at what cost? I adore an angsty love triangle and believe me…I was freaking out over this one and what would happen next! My mind kept flipping between who I could trust and then I was thrown for a loop again. What an amazing adventure this story took me on and I’m so excited we get more of this fantasy world soon!
WOW, she just blew me away with this! I’ve been a fan of this author for some time but this one was out of my wheelhouse, I’m not a big fantasy reader, I’ve tried but I have trouble remembering who has what power, that being said, maybe I just hadn’t been reading the right ones because I had no trouble following this one. I think thats because the author is so great at storytelling and drawing the reader INTO her world it keeps you fully engaged. I did not want to put this down even for a second. Plenty of action, the world came alive, and I was pulling for Audra and Zad, while having conflicting feelings about Raiden and their obligations and ties to each other, translation – EXACTLY the right recipe for the BEST kind of love triangle! Betrayal, smoke and mirrors, lies and half truths, this book is a twisted tale into a world that was fun to get lost in and proves Ms. Fields can succeed in being a wonderful writer in whatever genre she so chooses!
Let me start out by saying, I don’t typically read the books that fall into the fantasy genre, but this book sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down. Ella Fields is an author I discovered last year, and I swear with every book I read of hers I love her more and more!
Ella created a world unlike any other, and the characters she created within this story. Mind-blowing, Audra is nothing less than amazing, and I love how unapologetically herself she is. She speaks her mind and takes action when she needs to. She is seriously one badass heroine! I also couldn’t help but fall in love with Zadicus. That man, he seemed really arrogant and I didn’t think I was going to care for him, but he won me over. As for Raiden, he was something else too, I could never quite put my finger on what it was about Raiden that I needed to know more about.
This book has changed my outlook when it comes to the fantasy genre, and that is all because of Ella. She has an amazing ability to transport you into the world she’s writing about. You can picture everything happening in your mind because of the vivid pictures that she paints. Even if fantasy isn’t your normal genre, I encourage you to read this one, it’ll blow your mind!
When Ella Fields said that „A King so Cold” is not a book like books written by her I was more interested than ever. New book written by one of my favourite authors? I need to read it!
So I started „A King so Cold” and I’m gone.
This book is really a new Ella Fields and I really love this version! Give me more!
With „A King so Cold” Ella shows us that whatever she will write, it will be great.
„A King so Cold” is a fantasty/romance novel. We can meet here the cold queen Adura. Her Kingdom is on her head, but also she has a problem with her husband Raiden, which is a traitor. Adura discovers that her husband has a more secrets than betray.
Will she stay a cold heart queen?
Or will she finally finds a true love?
This story is PURE MAGIC! OMG! I love Adura and Raiden so much! Both of them are strong, true and totally bad. Yep, they are bad and brutal too. But they are perfect in all of these and I am really in love with them.
The world which Ella Fields serves us is (I won’t be original) magic. This book is like a tale, but the main heroine is broken and she is covering herself under the cold mask.
I absolutely love this book and I can’t wait for the next book written by Ella.
Also I am happy that I could have had such a wonderful adventure with „A King so Cold”.
Will be the next book with Adura?
This is a really good question.
If you have read any of Ella Fields works, I’ll just begin by saying that this book is different than anything else that she’s published. Different but no less amazing. In A King So Cold, this author creates a beautiful story of royalty and fantasy. It’s a modern day fairy tale complete with betrayal and lies, arranged marriage, heartbreak, and war. I will admit that this isn’t a genre that I typically read, but this book is so well written and just so good, that I found myself fully engrossed in this story and in this fantastical world. I would give it more than 5-stars if I could.
Fantasy romance is usually not my jam, however, I love Ella’s writing and this book was no exception to that. The moment I started reading I was sucked into this magical world and I never wanted to leave.
Queen Audra is ruling her kingdom alone. Her parents are dead and her husband is a traitor. She is ruling with a cruel, cold heart these days. Audra learns her husband is set to marry another woman, so she kidnaps him and keeps him in her dungeon until he remembers everything he did. Can a queen with a cold heart also find herself?
I loved Audra, despite her coldness you could feel there is something more to her. She used her coldness to protect her heart. When she was telling Raiden of the former life together my heart was breaking. I honestly loved those two together so much. There is so much chemistry between the two. Zad, well he has been in Audra’s life for a long time, there are times she questions him and there were times that I was questioning him and trying to decide if I should like him or not. Though, towards the end I was leaning more towards the liking him side of things.
Even if fantasy romance isn’t your thing, you will still enjoy this story. There are plenty of fantasy elements to the story, but there is plenty of other romance elements. It is the perfect balance of the two.
Ella created a magical, fairytale world that is captivating and beautiful. Fall in love with these characters, this story and this world. A King So Cruel is a MUST READ!
