“[Leine Basso] is a sassy, kick-arse, no-nonsense, I’ll-eat-your-balls-for-breakfast type of woman. She simply rocks. Berkom’s books are ones when you almost forget to breathe. They’re fast-paced, taut with tension and sheer joy from start to finish.” ~Cath’n’Kindle Book Reviews
“[A Killing Truth] introduces one of modern fiction’s deadliest heroes…” ~Reviewer Charles A. Ray
“This is my third Leine Basso, and like the others, the action never lets up. Leine is the female Jack Reacher only she does it all without being 6’5” and weighing 265 pounds, so that makes her more incredible. If you like page-turners, you’ll love this book.” ~ Polly Iyer, bestselling suspense author
“A Killing Truth would make an excellent introduction to D.V. Berkom’s writing…she’s one of my favorites… love how she just puts you right in the pages and you just don’t want to end.” ~Hornfan2
“The Leine Basso series by DV Berkom is jam-packed with action and adventure and Leine Basso is one bad*** protagonist…” Fundinmental Book Reviews
“As someone who has read all of the other current Leine Basso books first, I can say that A Killing Truth had me in suspense the entire time.” Maranda, Amazon Reviewer
“Non-stop twists and turns. An excellent thriller that pits Leine against not only international criminals but her own boss.” ~USMC-Mike
“What the world needs now is more female characters like bad ass Leine Basso. Bought the trio of books that follow this one because of how much I enjoyed the plot and twists along the way.” ~shzann

A short easy to read with a lot of action and well writen
Leine Basso is one tough lady. Many of today’s action/thrillers depend too much on bad choices by the main characters instead of developing the plot to provide the conflict in the story. Thankfully Leine makes a lot fewer stupid choices than found in many of currently available tomes.
Original
This is another exciting Leine Basso Thriller but it takes place before the rest of the series and gives an insight into what made Leine into the person she is today.
Leine is an expert assassin but after almost getting killed on an assignment, her lover, Carlos, thinks someone set her up – their boss, Eric. Carlos believes their boss is trying to get them killed and hiding any evidence.
When Leine’s assassination job gets messed up because of Ilya who was attempting to assassinate the same target, she came up with another plan. It was a little hard to carry out, though, because she had decided to keep Ilya with her. She felt she was better off letting him work with her so that she could keep an eye on him and make sure he didn’t cause more trouble. Which she was sure he would do if left on his own.
I have always love Leine! It is so great to have a strong, capable female protagonist in a story but her skills go beyond being capable.
Since I loved the other books in this series, I was looking forward to reading this. While this was a good book, I found it a bit confusing at times and didn’t always know who was being talked about – especially near the end which is why I gave it 3.5 stars.
Worth reading.
it is a girl power, feel good story. Fast pace, page turner. No lingering, a good easy and fast read for a weekend.
Great read- mixed emotions
This book was very good. I recommend it for all readers
Good book. The story moved along at a good pace. Had some great twists.
Characters are stereotypes and one dimensional.
Decent start to the series. I was surprised at the amount of time that passed in the book as it progressed. Plot was pretty straight forward, although I don’t understand how the main character couldn’t figure out where to find the villain.
This is the second book I’ve read in the Leine series and will make it a mission to read more. Really like the writing style considering the seriousness of Leine’s “job”. Good description without going on for 3 pages of detail. I could not believe I didn’t see Eric being such a threat.
This was a wonderful beginning of an exciting series. I loved the character’s. The plot was forever turning and full of suspense. I read the book in one sitting and I need to know what happens next of course! I love how the author writes which kept my attention throughout the book. I want to read more from this author!
Well written , action, plausible, even though the hero is a girl still it’s believable kept my interest. Scott
I love it when I find a new character that is so entertaining. Leine Basso is a fantastic leading character. Sometimes she is larger than life but you are always waiting to see what she will do next.
The female main character was hard to like. There wasn’t much character development, but she sure was busy killing everyone. Don’t want to spoil the end, but her reaction to her fiance’s death and how he was killed was pretty muted and she sure found a possible replacement quickly. Probably won’t read more of the series.
Love this series, have bought them all. About time we had a woman who kicked butt.
Too violent
D. V. Berkom has created a thriller full of assassination and betrayal. Her characters seem like clichés to me. Their interaction seems stilted.
Again, I am not finding deeply drawn characters in many of the books I’m reading. This story relies too much on plot. The story was short enough for the author to have drawn out better characterization and insight into character motivations and emotions. It was an okay read, but more of a blow-by-blow account than a fully-developed story. Many missed opportunities.
