Welcome to the Bean Hive Coffeehouse where the coffee is as hot as the gossip!“Fabulous fun and fantastic fried food! Kappes nails small town mystery with another must-read hit. Don’t miss this one!”– Darynda Jones, New York Times Bestselling Author of Eighth Grave After DarkLight, camera, lattes!A film production crew is wrapping up a major movie filming in Honey Springs, Kentucky. Everyone is … Springs, Kentucky.
Everyone is excited. The production crew has brought the bright lights to the tourist town and The Bean Hive has been supplying the production crew with unlimited treats and coffee.
When film actress Daisy Lemon comes in for a taste of the Star Studded Latte being served at the Bean Hive, Roxy Bloom is excited to serve her one. It would be good for promotion for Roxy to get a photo of the famous actress drinking her creation, only Roxy is witness to Daisy’s kidnapping.
The Star Studded Latte is now know as the Kidnap Latte, bringing national attention to the Bean Hive, attention that’s not necessarily welcome.
With production on hold and Stephen Lemon, Daisy’s husband, as the number one suspect, Roxy puts back on her law hat to help Stephen not only clear his name, but find Daisy before Honey Springs is no longer known for the cute, southern, lake tourist town due to the sudden spotlight on the cozy town.

This cozy mystery is a great addition to a wonderful series by this author, and I was so looking forward to reading this new book. I love Roxy and Patrick, and there are a lot of good secondary characters also. The addition of the Hollywood element enhanced the story, and the flawed character of Daisy was especially touching. This has a very original plot line, with an ending that was a hard to guess, although I was getting close. I adore the sweet charm of Honey Springs, Kentucky, and sure wish I could visit—as long as there are no crimes going on. I’ve read all the books in this series and can’t recommend it enough. I received an advanced reader copy, but these views are my own.
Roxy Bloom is happy that a Hollywood movie is being filmed in her town of Honey Springs. It will help bring in tourists. On the last day of filming Actress Daisy Lemon comes by to try one of Roxy’s special lattes. As the actress leaves to enjoy her treat, she’s kidnapped. Can they save Daisy? Roxy begins her own investigation. After all her coffeehouse is trending on social media with talk of her kidnap/killer latte. I like Roxy. She has spunk and sass. She has found her perfect niche I life. She loves her small town. It’s filled with family and friends. Patrick Cane, Roxy’s husband, is such a sweet and caring man. I loved how he did special things to make her happy. Their fur babies add love and warmth. This southern style cozy mystery is a special treat. The story has unexpected twists that wouldn’t let me stop reading. Aunt Maxi manages to keep things interesting. The action is nonstop. Tonya Kappes doesn’t disappoint. Her characters are easy to care about. The dialogue is sharp and the setting is a place I would like to live. I’m looking forward to coming back soon.
“A Killer Latte” earns 5/5 Kidnap Lattes…Clever and Totally Fun!
This is one of my favorite Tonya Kappes series…small town quirks, coffee talk, and murder! What’s not to like?! In the sixth book of Kappes’ Killer Coffee Mystery series Roxy Bloom’s coffeehouse, The Bean Hive, is all a “buzz” about a film crew invading Honey Springs, Kentucky, and spotlighting their little resort community. But, as Tonya Kappes does so well, mayhem pops in for a coffee break! At the “wrap,” the lead actress comes in to try the newest specialty drink created for the occasion, the Star Studded Latte, but instead of being a business coup, The Bean Hive becomes a crime scene. The actress is kidnapped, her husband and film director is a serious “person of interest,” and the image of Honey Springs is in jeopardy.
Wow! With a delightful splash of “Southerness,” of which Tonya has first hand knowledge, I was totally engaged in the investigation, informal queries, perilous predicaments, and final solution in this clever, twists and turns. I always enjoy the first-person narrative putting me in the middle with Roxy’s “I” perspective sharing her inner thoughts, concerns, and fears. But, the best part of this series, something I appreciate in other Kappes series, is the plethora of quirky, realistic, and enjoyable characters residing in her Kentucky towns. Some to love, some that just makes me groan. I do love Roxy; she is a favorite heroine with a calm demeanor, intelligent sense, and protective of her family and friends no matter how often they make her “groan.” However her Aunt Maxi, who has her fingers on the pulse of the town’s gossip, is my absolute favorite with a boa around her neck, snoopy manner, and “don’t mess with me” attitude. Roxy, of course, also deals with her mother’s antics, local personality conflicts, and her “still going strong” relationship with Patrick. All in all, the story, the characters, and Tonya’s southern sense makes this a big favorite!
Newbies can start here. There are enough references to backstory and character connections to keep a newbie in the loop, but Roxy’s journey from the beginning to now is very entertaining and shouldn’t be missed. Tonya is also great at providing readers a little something…Recipes from The Bean Hive: Star Studded Latte (not coffee…chai-flavored tea with caramel flavoring), Easy Peasy Lemon Cookies, Blueberry Crumb Cake, and Kentucky Benedictine Tea Sandwiches.
As always this is another wonderful cozy mystery by Tonya Kappes. I love the characters in this town. I am not a coffee or tea drinker but I would love to go to this coffee house to just get all the gossip in the town and to see what animal will be there that day. I loved the mystery and how it is solved. Looking forward to more . I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
I love Honey Springs the town and characters. This is the first I have read in this series but won’t be my last I really enjoyed it. A great cozy and clean read. I would recommend
I received an ARC for my honest review.
A Killer Latte is the sixth book in the Coffeehouse Murder Series by Tonya Kappes.
Everyone is star struck in Honey Springs, Kentucky while a movie is being filmed there. It’s time for the final production meeting and Roxy is in the Bean Hive when actress Daisy Lemon comes in wanting a special latte Roxy has made just for the making of the movie, called the Star Studded Latte and a ham and cheese quiche. After Daisy is served she takes a leisurely stroll down the boardwalk where she’s kidnapped right before Roxy’s eyes.
This book has several different turns that I wasn’t expecting but throughly enjoyed and I couldn’t put it down until the very end!!
Miss Kappes has as always written a wonderful story.
This is the sixth book in the Killer Coffee series. I like that this book has well-developed characters that are each unique. There isn’t any animosity towards the police as being incompetent.
Our amateur sleuth is a lawyer and business owner and recently married.
She is trying to keep her coffee and eatery going. She has taken on a catering job to provide the local shooting crew their coffee and pastries for the movie set while on location in her town.
She has developed a special latte for them called the Star-Studded Latte but is quickly renamed by social media as the “kidnap latte.”
Roxy tries to figure out why the star is kidnapped at the end of the movie, where her aunt has disappeared to, and what the director is up to.
There are plenty of twists and turns. Nothing is as it appears. A great read!
I was given an e-copy ARC and am not required to leave a positive review.
A movie filmed in Honey Springs, Kentucky has just wrapped and everyone is excited for the cast party that evening. Roxie has been asked to help serve at the party and she had provided the crew with drinks and snacks during shooting. When the star of the movie, Daisy, asks Roxie to meet her at the coffee shop privately, she shoos everyone out. Daisy shows up and wants a special latte Roxie has made just for the movie explaining she can have it now that she doesn’t need to worry about gaining weight and adds a ham and cheese quiche. As she is walking away with her secret treats, she is kidnapped to Roxie’s horror. When her director husband shows up with a ransom text almost immediately, Roxie’s radar is set off. She is off to find Daisy and the guilty party even though she knows her new husband is not going to be happy with her.
As with all of Kappes’ mysteries, you have humor, romance, friendship, family, lovable characters, and adorable pets. There are plenty of twists and turns that will have you guessing until the end.
I love this series and would love to spend a week end in Honey Springs.
I voluntarily reviewed due to receiving an ARC.
Honey Springs, Kentucky, is all abuzz with a movie crew in town wrapping up filming. Before the star, Daisy Lemon, packs up to leave, she splurges on The Bean Hive Coffee Shop owner Roxy’s movie themed specialty coffee and a snack. Roxy is shocked when Daisy is kidnapped as she leaves the shop and feels obligated to help locate her. Roxy finds herself putting on her lawyer persona to assist Daisy’s husband Steven, but when things take a dangerous turn, she does not know who to believe.
I enjoy the Killer Coffee Mysteries, and A KILLER LATTE is a nice addition to the series. It is a quick read that can be read as a standalone, but I think the most enjoyment comes from reading from the beginning of the series. Roxy is a smart, interesting amateur sleuth, and the supporting quirky characters are, at times, laugh-out-loud funny. I particularly enjoy that pets play such a prominent role in the books. The mystery in A KILLER LATTE is complex enough to keep me guessing; I did not figure out whodunit, which is usual for me. My only quibble is that it felt like the story moved along at a steady pace only to be rushed at the end.
A KILLER LATTE a clean, light cozy read sure to please Kappes’ loyal readers and fans of the cozy genre.
I received an ARC of this title from the author and voluntarily shared my thoughts here.
The timing couldn’t have been better – even though the calendar says Spring, I still want to stay indoors with a blanket, a mug of coffee and a good mystery to take me away. My solution to the gloomies? Dive into the world of Roxy and her coffeehouse, the Bean Hive. Roxy took care of me very well, giving me a mystery that kept me guessing to the very end. A couple of times I was sure I had it figured out but, nope, didn’t solve it before Roxy and that’s a good thing.
Honey Springs, KY is high energy these days dealing with a movie company filming in town. The glamorous star, Daisy Lemon has everybody’s attention and that includes Roxy. She is thrilled when the star comes into the coffeehouse and Roxy gets to serve her a Star Studded Latte, created in Daisy’s honor. Talk about star studded! Daisy is covered in more than a couple of million dollars of jewelry and before Roxy has a chance to catch her breath, Daisy and her jewelry are snatched! The press renames the latte, calling it the Kidnap Latte. Roxy knows what she has to do – investigate aka snoop, according to her newlywed husband. Roxy has several excuses – first, she is a witness to the crime. Second, it’s her business reputation in peril and third? Well, Roxy is also a lawyer and Daisy’s husband hires her to defend him and then the jeweler -wow, all those millions worth of jewelry – hires her, too. So that’s not snooping, it’s a lawyer working for her clients, right?
Roxy has a lot to deal with, especially now that she is newly married to Patrick. As well as the mystery there are some rocky patches on their horizon that have nothing to do with the kidnapping. I think that this may just be my favorite entry in the series but I have been known to utter those words after reading previous books in the series. To those of you who may be new to this series, no worries, it works well as a stand alone but I’ll bet that when you finish A Killer Latte you will want to go back and fill in the rest of the series.
Once again another great cozy mystery with Roxy & Patrick. I was glad to see Roxy get some real recognition for her great coffee and sweets but b was short lived due to a movie star being kidnapped while seen drinking it. This is not the kind of press and reviews Roxy was hoping to get from the movie being shot in her quaint little town. Lots of twists and turns and it kept me entertained from start to finish. Great book!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy.
A movie has just wrapped up in the small town of Honey Springs, Kentucky and there is excitement in the air. The star Daisy Lemon gets kidnapped after walking out of the Bean Hive with her latte.
Kidnapping, stolen phone books, what else is going to happen? Plenty of twists in this story that will keep you turning pages and guessing till the end.
I love the characters in this series by Tonya Kappes. Check out the recipes at the end of the story.
I received an ARC prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it. Opinions expressed are my own.
A movie is being filmed in Honey Springs and the Been Hive Coffeehouse is busier than usual. Roxy created the Star Studded Latte especially for the occasion. Unfortunately, it gets a new nickname later in the book when someone is kidnapped. Leave it to Roxy to stick her nose into Spencer’s investigation and come up with some good info. Not only does this book have good characters in a wonderful setting, but the plot was awesome. This is a fun read. I didn’t want to put it down!
Glad to be back in Honey Springs with Roxi and the gang. A film crew is shooting a movie in Honey Springs and Roxi is doing the catering for them. When the star, Daisy, is kidnapped in front of Roxi, she does what she can to have her returned. But, things aren’t always what they seem. There are a couple of twists to the plot.
I am packing my bags and moving to Honey Springs, Kentucky. When I get there I will immediately go to the Bean Hive Coffeehouse. As a I open the doors the rich aroma of coffee spills out the door as my new best friend Roxy gives me a hug. After reading this book I want to live in the quaint town that oozes with southern charm.
It’s not everyday that a film crew comes to Honey Springs so the town has their welcome mat out. The story is such fun to read with characters that make me want to grab a seat and chat with them. Roxy is charming and makes the best concoction of coffees in town.
The star of the film sneaks to Roxy’s place to get a Star Studded Latte but on the way back to the set an unforeseen kidnapping happens, Bye bye Latte . Bye Bye Daisy, star of the film that was was just wrapped up. Now the action begins as the town is in a tissy over the crime and a ransom has already been asked for.
It’s nor your usual kidnapping and there are so many twists in the story I was trying to write down all the suspects. The author has out done herself in this charming mystery. Aunt Maxie is a hoot and will stop at nothing to get the scoop on the missing film star. After all, she has been promised a spread in the People magazine. She is very astute and has no problems listening to other people’s conversations. I can feel the author’s personality all through this book. With the southern charm, coffee at the ready and little four legged friends surrounding her, she writes exactly what she knows. Her creative flow is flawless and gives readers a great mystery filled with laughs, excitement and intrigue. You don’t want to miss the yummy recipes at the end of the book. Perhaps you could have a book club, make all the recipes and discuss A Killer Latte.
I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.
I had fun trying to solve this mystery. I loved that there were several twists along the way. I definitely didn’t expect the mystery to unfold the way that it did. A Killer Latte is a great addition to the Killer Coffee series! I look forward to my next visit to Honey Springs, KY.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
How disruptive is a filming production to your daily life? Especially when you create a drink to honor them and it gets it name changed in a not pleasant way. the star get kidnapped and now you have to put on your old other hat to help others.
THINK YOU KNOW the story? Guess again! This story changes and has several twist and turns you never see coming. Read it and tell me if you agree.
This book 6 in this series but can definitely be read by itself and not get lost. Yes there are references to previous books but you are not lost at all. It is a fast quick easy read.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
I just love my visits to Honey Springs, Kentucky…vicariously, of course, through Tonya Kappes’ wonderful cozy Killer Coffee Mystery Series. In her sixth and newest book, A Killer Latte, a film crew has been shooting a movie in Honey Springs, and Roxy Bloom has been busy supplying the crew with yummy treats and delicious coffee from her coffee shop, the Bean Hive. I so want to stop in and have a cup of coffee with Roxy and the gang! Roxy is super excited when megastar actress, Daisy Lemon, secretly stops by the Bean Hive to have one of Roxy’s specially created “Star Studded” lattes and a quiche. Roxy’s excitement quickly turns to utter shock when she witnesses Daisy being kidnapped in broad daylight right on the main drag in Honey Springs! Who would want to kidnap Daisy and why? It isn’t long before the media get to town and rename Roxy’s special drink the “Kidnap Latte.” Since this is definitely not the kind of attention Roxy envisioned for her coffee shop, she gets involved with solving Daisy’s kidnapping before this unwanted “advertising” gets out of control. Lots of twists, a superbly written mystery, laugh out loud moments, memorable and lovable characters, a surprise reveal at the end, and a strong feisty heroine make this book another wonderful edition to this fine series.
I volunteered to review an ARC from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It was great to be back in Honey Springs, Kentucky. The town is buzzing with excitement because a Hollywood movie has been filming there. It is the final day of filming as the book opens. Roxy and The Bean Hive have been supplying all of the drinks and sweet treats to the cast and crew during filming and Roxy even came up with a special drink for their stay, the Star-Studded Latte. The star of the movie, Daisy Lemon, asks Roxy to have a secret meeting with her in the coffee shop before the final town meeting. When Daisy shows up she asks for a Star-Studded Latte and a ham and cheese quiche. Roxy delivers the treats to Daisy and as Daisy is walking down to the waterfront to enjoy her treats she is kidnapped. Roxy sees the whole thing and immediately contacts the Sheriff. Aunt Maxi is writing an article for People magazine about the movie and Daisy and is determined to get an interview with Daisy no matter what it takes. Roxy wants to help solve the mystery so that the town’s reputation and the tourist season won’t be effected. There are several good suspects and I didn’t want to put the book down until I reached the end. I love that recipes are included at the end and can’t wait to try them.
I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from Tonya Kappes Books Cozy Mystery Reader Krew. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A new latte named after the actress who is filming in Honey Springs, missing phone books and a kidnapping. Roxy has her hands full with extra customers, her new husband and now a kidnapping. This one has many twists and will keep you guessing. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing
