Elizabeth DeCaro, a 28 year-old mother of four was found dead in her own home, murdered execution-style with two bullets to the head. Her husband Rick was immediately suspect, having previously struck her “accidentally” with the family van after taking out a $100,000 life insurance policy on her. A Killer Among Us presents the true shocking story of Elizabeth’s family and their search for justice … justice against the man who continued to play father to the children whose mother he had killed.

This was a true story of how one family found justice for their murdered daughter/sister. A gripping novel that kept you on the edge of your seat. I could hardly put it down. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes true crime novels.
At first I wasn’t getting into this book. It needs some good editing, and the descriptions of the family who is the subject of the book were almost over the top. They just sounded too good to be true. But I stuck with it and by the third chapter I was staying up way too late reading, rooting for this family that I didn’t know, and the next day taking any chance I got to snatch it up and read more.
You’ll be angry, you’ll want to cry for the families and especially the children affected by it all, and you’ll keep reading to find out what happened next.
I could not put this book down. It was riveting and sad. It made you mad but at the same time you needed to turn the page again and again. I recommended it to my daughter. It was already on her radar to read.
It never fails to amuse me how smug some people can be when they do bad things. They think they are untouchable. Too funny when it comes undone. Not funny, but justice wins, as it should be.
Author needs more training ….
I put this book down. I found it terrible uninteresting. it was really boring and there was nothing to keep your attention……….
Definitely a page turner!
It was rather repetitious but maybe it was just the author being thorough.
True crime can’t be beat. Of all crime books I have read there is never a valid reason for why some people choose to hurt other people. However I am hooked and continue to read well written true crime stories.
The author walks you through all the evidence in the case, the trial, and the conviction, really giving you an inside look.
Enjoed the book but it went on just a little bit.
What a heartbreaking story. Very well written.
After hearing about this murder in the news it was amazing to hear the back story. Very well written!
Unbelievable !!
I especially liked it since it was a true story. I got a little tired of all the legal stuff toward the end.
A dull take on a serious subject
This story went on about 100 pages too long..?the trial scenes were repoted in way to much detail and even though it is a true story of a family’s terrible loss it could have been presented much quicker and better
Since its a true crime tale the twists and turns and criminal investigation were well described but frustrating and I felt for the family members who stood by waiting for justice. Truly hard to believe someone could do this to the mother of his children. Or anyone really. Glad he got his due.
.
I really enjoyed this book. Was sad for the children involved. They lost out on a Mother’s love and presence in their lives due to a greedy, self absorbed father.
Sincerely FD
This book told a true story about a tragic incident. The final justice was obtained several years later. A good book.
