READ THE SENSATIONAL BLOCKBUSTER THAT STARTED IT ALL! Take it from the top in #1 New York Times bestselling author Sue Grafton’s knockout thriller that introduced detective Kinsey Millhone–and a hot new attitude–to crime fiction… A IS FOR AVENGER A tough-talking former cop, private investigator Kinsey Millhone has set up a modest detective agency in a quiet corner of Santa Teresa, … agency in a quiet corner of Santa Teresa, California. A twice-divorced loner with few personal possessions and fewer personal attachments, she’s got a soft spot for underdogs and lost causes.
A IS FOR ACCUSED
That’s why she draws desperate clients like Nikki Fife. Eight years ago, she was convicted of killing her philandering husband. Now she’s out on parole and needs Kinsey’s help to find the real killer. But after all this time, clearing Nikki’s bad name won’t be easy.
A IS FOR ALIBI
If there’s one thing that makes Kinsey Millhone feel alive, it’s playing on the edge. When her investigation turns up a second corpse, more suspects, and a new reason to kill, Kinsey discovers that the edge is closer–and sharper–than she imagined.

Love these and have read them all. Hard to wait for next ones as has been 2 years apart.
Love this series.
One of my favorite authors who writes without dragging down the story line. and keeps the action moving. I also like the continuity from one book to another.
Read this years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the character. Am anxiously awaiting the last two letters of the alphabet.
An anjoyable read …
A great series of books from A to Z
All Sue Grafton books are wonderful; great story building & characters, wish there were more letters in the alphabet!!
Sue Grafton is a MUST read!!
I’m eagerly awaiting “Y” and have it on my pre-order list. I didn’t like Kinsey in “A” or “B” but began to feel friendlier toward her by “D” or so. She’s a complicated character, and I’ve always thought Ms. Grafton had gifted her with keen instincts. However, in “X” I was very disappointed in the nearly deadly jam Grafton put Kinsey in and didn’t find it true to her character (Kinsey’s) that she would have allowed herself to be drawn into that trap. I’m sure that plot will play into the last two books in the alphabet. I don’t like knowing that, but I’m still looking forward to the next two books.
Be warned – once you start this series you fill quickly go through every book in the series. Wonderful characters – great story!
Sue Grafton is a master of writing. If you can put yourself in the 80’s you will enjoy. This is like a favorite movie. You can read it again.
Love all the alphabet books she has written!
I have read A -X and cannot wait for “Y” to come out this summer! I hope the stories of Kinsey continue after “Z”.
Great characters. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I have read all books in this series. Interesting characters and good mystery. Interesting that it takes place in an earlier time before cell phones etc. Good reads.
An excellent series, you will fall in love with the characters!!!
I am reading current book, and always a delight to follow the life of the main character.
At the time it was written and I first read it, this was a pretty groundbreaking book. About the only other author writing modern American women heroines in mysteries was Sara Paretsky, and while I greatly enjoyed both, Grafton’s always seemed more accessible to me.
Good story teller.
love this series
