READ THE SENSATIONAL BLOCKBUSTER THAT STARTED IT ALL! Take it from the top in #1 New York Times bestselling author Sue Grafton’s knockout thriller that introduced detective Kinsey Millhone–and a hot new attitude–to crime fiction… A IS FOR AVENGER A tough-talking former cop, private investigator Kinsey Millhone has set up a modest detective agency in a quiet corner of Santa Teresa, … agency in a quiet corner of Santa Teresa, California. A twice-divorced loner with few personal possessions and fewer personal attachments, she’s got a soft spot for underdogs and lost causes.
A IS FOR ACCUSED
That’s why she draws desperate clients like Nikki Fife. Eight years ago, she was convicted of killing her philandering husband. Now she’s out on parole and needs Kinsey’s help to find the real killer. But after all this time, clearing Nikki’s bad name won’t be easy.
A IS FOR ALIBI
If there’s one thing that makes Kinsey Millhone feel alive, it’s playing on the edge. When her investigation turns up a second corpse, more suspects, and a new reason to kill, Kinsey discovers that the edge is closer–and sharper–than she imagined.

Masterfully written mystery
I was addicted after I read this book
Easy, quick relaxing read.
I fell in love with this series. Have read them all.
She will be missed!
Read every one through to 17 in this series and she’s good! The author. Will hold your attention for sure.
I read the series years ago and enjoyed it.
Loved all Sue’s books!
First read this book in the 80s and have read all of her books through the alphabet, until her death. Great writer, laugh out loud sentences, then unsuspecting action.
I read this years ago and followed up with all of her books.
I loved Kinsey Milhone back in the day, but her character didn’t come forward in time, so as technology progressed, she kept being stuck in tight circumstances that would be solved by a cell phone. I’m sorry that the series got stuck like that.
I have been a fan of Sue Grafton for years, ever since I started the series with “A”. They are, always, a fun read of a murder mystery and Kinsey is perfect as a surly private investigator. Start with this one and read them all!
I enjoyed all of Sue Grafton’s alphabet series. I feel like I know the characters and can visualize the locations, descriptions are great. A book I couldn’t wait to finish. It’s before cell phones, information a lot harder to gather than in today’s world.
Can’t go wrong with a Grafton alphabet mystery.
Loved all of them from A to Y. So sad she’s gone
all of her books are wonderful
Introduction to Kinsey and her world. Sue Grafton sucks you in and you become involved whether you want to or not.
I had never read a book by her before and I thought I’d start at the beginning. I wasn’t disappointed. I am looking forward reading the rest of the alphabet.
My first Grafton book, an introduction to the wild world of Kinsey Milhone, PI. I read this one and never stopped
It’s a 5 STAR series for me.
The Sue Grafton series is one of the best detective series ever
