READ THE SENSATIONAL BLOCKBUSTER THAT STARTED IT ALL! Take it from the top in #1 New York Times bestselling author Sue Grafton’s knockout thriller that introduced detective Kinsey Millhone–and a hot new attitude–to crime fiction… A IS FOR AVENGER A tough-talking former cop, private investigator Kinsey Millhone has set up a modest detective agency in a quiet corner of Santa Teresa, … agency in a quiet corner of Santa Teresa, California. A twice-divorced loner with few personal possessions and fewer personal attachments, she’s got a soft spot for underdogs and lost causes.
A IS FOR ACCUSED
That’s why she draws desperate clients like Nikki Fife. Eight years ago, she was convicted of killing her philandering husband. Now she’s out on parole and needs Kinsey’s help to find the real killer. But after all this time, clearing Nikki’s bad name won’t be easy.
A IS FOR ALIBI
If there’s one thing that makes Kinsey Millhone feel alive, it’s playing on the edge. When her investigation turns up a second corpse, more suspects, and a new reason to kill, Kinsey discovers that the edge is closer–and sharper–than she imagined.

Loved Sue Grafton!
The alphabet ended at ‘Y’ , so sad
love all her books
I’ve read all of the alphabet with Sue Grafton and I really like them
Great introduction to the series. I like the development of the main character and the plot it’s easy to read —- makes you want to find out what’s on the next page. Doesn’t rely on a love interest to move the story along like so many female detective stoties do. Recommend strongly
loved all of her books enjoyed them all
Every single alphabet book by Sue Grafton is worth reading. Kinsey Milhone was a character before her time. An independent woman who was fearless in life and career. RIP Sue G
and many thanks for the hours of entertainment and each anxiously awaited adventure!
I’ve read the entire series, starting when I was a young mother… pure escapism for me. I always wanted to be like Kelsey. I miss her.
This was the first Sue Grafton Book I have read and was disappointed that is wasn’t more interesting. I know people who have read all of them and have raved about her heroine.
Began reading this author with book one. Bought many in the series before I read it and am glad I did. Am now reading C is for corpse. Easy read. Kept my interest.
Have read A thru H and all have been great.
I enjoy all of Sue Grafton books. They all are remarkably different, and most of the time one cannot figure out the ending until you get there.
Laurence Fife was a cheating divorce lawyer, so no one was too upset when he was murdered. Still, his wife Nikki hires PI Kinsey Millhone to find out who did it. The catch? Nikki is out of jail on parole after being convicted of committing the crime herself. With the case closed and cold, can Kinsey find any fresh leads?
I’ve long heard of the series and wanted to start it, and I’m glad I finally did. While the book does fall victim to a few clichés of the genre, it’s still a very enjoyable book. The plot is strong and the characters real, both of which kept me engrossed. I’m looking forward to more of the series.
I loved the fact that the P.I. in the story was a female. I have read only one other series like that and find it delightful. It is easy to read and worth the time.
I have read every one of Sue Grafton’s “alphabet” mysteries. Kinsey Milhone is a charming character. The books are entertaining and very well written.
Kinsey is a fun character and gets into some crazy predicaments.
Loved it,read nearly all of the series.Tragic auther died before completing
Great b beginning to Sue Grafton’s alphabet series
