Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, is a lord with a plan. Hades’ Lair, London’s top gaming hell, is for sale, and Tristan intends to buy it. He even has an investor in mind: a foreign prince. Unfortunately, this investor will only work with married men, since he sees marriage as a sign of responsibility. The rule doesn’t faze Tristan: he’s hired an actress to play his wife at a house party to impress … impress the prince.
When the actress doesn’t appear, Tristan is in trouble.
Confirmed bluestocking Irene Carmichael would rather study weather patterns than dress in fine gowns, but when the best friend of her older brother asks her for help, she agrees, even if it means sneaking into his manor house every night for a week to play his wife.
Unfortunately, neither of them had counted on the snow.

Desperate for a stand-in wife, Tristan climbs up to Irene Carmichael’s balcony and persuades her to play the role. Despite his long-suffering servants’ confusion, they do play along with him, but even so, things do not go to plan. Combined with a snowstorm and unexpected events, Tristan sees his future unraveling before him. That is until he comes to the realisation that there are some things one cannot buy. The story is generally well written, lighthearted and romantic is a standalone. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Tristan is looking for a moneylender to start a gambling hall in London. He finds him in a Russian prince, but he only deals with married men. Tristan does not have a good example of marriage and is looking for a woman who can pretend to be his wife. The actress he has hired for this does not show up and so he has a problem.
Irene has admired Tristan from a distance for years and when he asks her to play the part of his wife, she agrees. Knowing that it goes against all rules of society. But what if feelings predominate? How do you keep going?
A wonderfully light novel for a cold winter evening on the couch

Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, was a businessman, and was very interested in Hade’s Lair, the gaming hell run by the Duke of Vernon and the Earl of McIntire. Both of them were now happy married men, and they no longer wanted this kind of work.
Burley already had his target to negotiate the house, Prince Radoslav.
However, the prince had on principle only to deal with married men, and Tristan was a famous bachelor.
To resolve this issue, Burley hires an actress, Francesca, to pretend to be his wife. And her price had not been cheap at all. And to make matters worse, Francesca stood him up.
Desperate not to lose the bargain, Burley asks the butler, George, if there was a lady nearby who would be willing to play his role as wife, and the answer was Miss Irene Carmichael.
Irene was admittedly a bluestocking, and aimed not at marriage but at her research on weather patterns. She wasn’t interested in balls or fashion, and she had known Burley for years and secretly developed a crush for him. But she was well aware that he would marry a beautiful lady.
When he breaks into her room through the glass garden door and proposes to her to be a fake wife, she doesn’t accept it at first, but then reconsiders, and helps him.
But over the days, as Prince takes his decision, Burley and Irene get closer and closer together.
He knew her family, had even saved her brother during the war, but only now did he pay attention to her.
The scheme that should happen during the day begins to go wrong when the storm comes and leaves them in the same house longer than allowed.
And the more Irene found herself in love with Tristan, the farther she got from the realization of her dream.
She would have to choose what future she wanted, and Tristan would have to admit to himself that what had started as a scam had become the strongest and noblest feeling he could ever wish for.
4 stars
This was a lighthearted, charming story that would have been 5 star-worthy had it not fallen apart a little at the end. Despite that, it was entertaining, and I’m looking forward to reading more books by Bianca Blythe in the future.
I received a free copy of A Holiday Proposal, but that did not affect my review.
A Holiday Proposal is book 6 in Bianca Blythe’s Wedding Trouble series. I thought this was a very witty and charming story. Blythe writes wonderfully sweet romances. “His scent did funny things to her heart. It trembled in his presence, fluttering like a trapped butterfly. Dancing with him would be dangerous.” I think I fell in love with the hero Tristan. His sunny outlook and graciousness won me over. I liked the heroine Irene. She’s not a typical Regency romance beauty, but I discovered that she grew on me as the story progressed. Looking forward to more by Blythe. I was given a copy of this book.
This was such a delightful story to read and it proves that the heroine doesn’t have to be a beauty to be loved:) Irene has a very scientific mind, she’s a bluestocking, isn’t beautiful and would rather be on her own, reading her books than going to balls and such.
Tristan is handsome, a known rake and wants to buy a gaming hell but needs a pretend wife to get the backing he needs for the purchase of the gaming hell. When his first plans don’t work out, he convinces Irene to help him out and that’s when the fun begins!!
I thought the story well written, fast paced and the ending truly made me smile:)

Bianca Blythe books are always enjoyable, and this is no exception. This book is about Tristan who needs a fake wife to make a business deal. Irene, who is a bluestocking interested in studying weather patterns, agrees to help Tristan out and pretend to be his wife. Reading about Tristan and Irene was a nice clean enjoyable read. You will enjoy this book.
I love this story and the wonderful characters within…
Fun, twists and surprises until the end…
A young lady, known as bluestocking… a young lord, known as rake…
He needs a fake wife to obtain an adventure… but the hired wife doesn’t show up and so the fun begins…
A story for all that love Regency…
Words cannot adequately describe how much I loved this book. It was a clean and stunning story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
Top Rogue to Avoid
Tristan, an earl, needs a temporary fake wife to secure funding to purchase the Hades’ Lair.
Irene is the sister of a duke but a bluestocking interested in science. She even has eyeglasses.
So, since he lied to a prince, Tristan needs to procure Irene as his fake wife.
Even if he disparaged her looks.
Still, she shows up to pretend to be his wife.
Tristan takes a long while to change his mind about marrying. And his lies are catching up to him.
I enjoyed this book and especially liked that Irene was interested in weather.

This is the 2nd book I’ve read written by Bianca Blythe; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Book six of the Wedding Trouble series a well written story that kept me smiling as I read. This is Miss Irene Carmichael and Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, and the lie that gets them both in trouble. Tristan needs a wife for a business deal with Prince Radoslav and Princess Natalia so he lies and says he has one. Irene decides to help Tristan so she goes along with him. I liked when they first meet. This was a fun Regency Christmas story to read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Will his charade lead to a forever love?
If you’re looking for a lighthearted Christmas Regency romance, that is also very sweet and clean, then A Holiday Proposal should be your next read. Bianca Blythe has deftly written a witty and endearing tale that will make you smile. The main characters are charmingly cute together, the supporting characters fit in well and the story is delightfully tender with a smile-worthy ending.
All in all, this is a enjoyable holiday novella.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.
I liked this romp. The tone and silliness reminded me of The Perfect Fiancé and How to Capture a Duke (Wallflowers books 0 and 1), which remain my favorites.
However, I must ask, if the h cannot leave the earl’s estate due to the heavy
snowfall one evening, how can someone from London reach the estate the very next morning?
I read a free copy; the thoughts expressed are my own.
A bluestocking and a Gambler.
Oh, when you practice to deceive all sorts of things can happen. Tristan needs a wife to impress an investor now he does not need a real wife so he comes up with an idea. Damn if that did not work so next he asks Irene in a true romantic way to be his pretend wife. This lighthearted gem was a joy to read. It was well-written some downright funny moments, great twists, and overall a lovely story. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

The sixth book in the series & whilst it could easily be read on its own I did enjoy catching up with some characters from earlier books. I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging, fun read. Irene is the typical bluestocking, wallflower & Tristan the good looking rogue but he very soon realises that Irene is truly beautiful. Their fake marriage does cause some humorous scenes especially at the ball. I read the book in a sitting& finished it with a smile on my face
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
A Holiday Proposal is the sixth book in the Wedding Trouble series. This is an entertaining holiday romance with charming characters that learn a lot about themselves and the person with whom they have a fake relationship. The storyline is engaging and well written, with drama, humour, a snowstorm, and an unexpected chance of love.
I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
This is such an interesting story. Irene and Tristan get themselves into such a problematic situation that all the way through I was wondering if they would ever be able to get themselves out of it – without anyone getting hurt or having regrets.
The story is so well written, full of humor and tongue-in-cheek situations that I couldn’t help but love everything about it and I highly recommend it as a book to be read!
I read an Advance Reader Copy of this story and my review is given voluntarily and is also unbiased.
