I’ll I really enjoyed this book. I loved the character
Miriel! I felt bad for all her struggles and the constant pursuing of her lecherous uncle! She was a strong yet still compassionate woman! I loved all the characters with their different strengths and weaknesses! The plot was original and fast paced to keep the reader engaged. I had several mixed emotions when reading this book. I think the author intended it this was. I love a fast paced book. Barbara Bard is an amazing author. I try to read all her books! I highly recommend this book and this author!
A sinister phantom of the night rises up to inflict the most heinous crime for a young Miriel to witness a murderous act that will haunt her for years! A Highlander to Set Her Free is well-written, filled with a magnificent cast of characters, a strong plot that brings this read together perfectly! Miriel must avoid her evil lecherous uncle Cradoc who will do anything to get his way with her. Edan a brawny Highlander, Laird of the Tosh clan is traveling from clan to clan looking for a suitable husband for his sister. When he arrives at Cadwell keep he meets Miriel and is filled with a stirring of attraction for her. With an evil web of violence, danger, lies and treachery Edan will fight to keep Miriel safe. With their passions building in this heart pounding story full of drama, sizzling passion, secrets, action, trials and tribulations and while the suspense builds and tensions escalate with twist and turns abound that makes for one outstanding story! Barbara Bard has written one heart stopping novel that kept me turning the pages to the very end! The Extended Episode is a must read!
He is looking for a match for his sister and meets her. He comes to her clan and sees just how insane her uncle is and how badly he treats her so he decides he can’t make a match here for his sister and have her be safe. She wants to sneak out with him and his sister when they leave. A very well written story with lots of excitement, danger, twists and turns, suspense, surprises and much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
The characters were wonderfully created and the storyline was so well written that I remained totally captivated throughout the entire book!
This is a great read.
This is the story of Edan & Miriel. Edan is a Laird of the North and is trying to find a husband for his sister, Cairstine. Miriel is the daughter of a Laird who was killed when she was eight years old and her uncle is now Laird, whom she despises. She feels like she is a prisoner in her own home. Her uncle has untoward feelings for her, and it is getting worse day by day. Edan and his clan come to find out if Artair, Miriel’s cousin will be a good husband for Cairstine. Miriel and Edan first meet in the garden where Miriel is. She doesn’t know he’s a Laird, and he doesn’t know she’s the son of a Laird. The attraction is immediate. This is a go back and forth love story on the part of Miriel. Miriel keeps running away from Edan. She is a very frustrating character, but in a good way. It’s a sign of very good writing on the author’s part. A lot goes on this story and it had my attention from page 1. This is an excellent story and I hope you decide to read it. I highly recommend it.
At the beginning I was not enamored by the h. However, when I thought about her situation it was understandable why she was the she was. She was an orphan living on the charity of her father’s brother. She was not allowed to have any friends or suitors. She lived in constant fear of her uncle. He was a malicious vicious man. She was terrified knowing that her uncle had sinful thoughts about her and tried to get to her time after time. He was getting bolder with his advances and there was nothing she could do. Her cousin nor her aunt would not stand up to her uncle on her behalf so she lived in constant fear. When the H appeared at the keep his objective was to see if her cousin would be a good match for his sister. Her uncle was greedy and welcomed the possibility of uniting the two clans and the money it would bring to him. Both the H and the h were attracted to each other but the h had to be careful lest her uncle caught on. The H tried to get to know the h and they would take one step forward but then she would throw them two steps back. That part of the story was frustrating as it happened a lot. But again, I had to remember she was young, naive and terrified. The uncle and his right-hand man were despicable. The story reveals how ugly, dark and black the uncle’s soul was. The H was amazing. He never gave up on the h no matter how many times she ran from him, avoided him and refused to tell him what was wrong. In the end it saved her life. An interesting story.
I enjoyed the book very much.
Miriel was brought up under the horrible thumb of her uncle. He had started to look at her in an inappropriate manner. He was getting even more determine to have her.
Edan has been searching for a groom for his sister and the son of the Laird of Cadwell Keep is the seventh man they had tried to meet.
When Edan get to the keep, he sees Miriel in the garden and when she snaps at him for being in her garden, she doesn’t realize he is a Laird.
Will he be the saving grace she needs to escape her uncle??
A really good story with twists and turns that will keep you interested.
