The third book in this captivating new series from USA Today Bestselling Author, Tessa Layne. Featuring five stand-alone books with HEA’s and your favorite characters from the Cowboys of the Flint Hills series.Former Navy SEAL Cash Aiken assumed he could leave behind the trauma of war and settle into life as a bodyguard. Why not? He was big, smart, and nothing ever got past his eagle eye. But a … past his eagle eye. But a split second of inattention nearly cost the life of his asset, and cost him his job. When his old buddy Travis Kincaid invites him to come work at Resolution Ranch, an organization helping wounded vets, he clings to the lifeline and hopes it’s a chance to start over. But Cash is stunned to discover that the beautiful woman he nearly let die is hiding out at the ranch, masquerading as a stable hand.
Country Music’s Superdiva Kaycee Starr is done with the music biz. After a terrifying encounter with a crazed fan, she goes underground and answers a help-wanted ad in a place the paparazzi would never think to look. Prairie, Kansas. While she finds solace and healing among the horses, handsome ranch hand Cash Aiken lights her up in ways she only wrote about in songs. He’s the only person she’s met who seems to ‘get’ her.
Cash and Kaycee fall hard and fast for each other, but when their secrets are exposed, will they have the courage to trust each other? And more importantly, themselves?

So, so good! This is everything you want in a romance. It has two people, Cash and Kate, who each think they are broken but, together they are completely whole. The vulnerability, the passion and the unconditional love is emotionally charged throughout their story. They are perfect!
Once again, the town of Prarie and the Resolution Ranch are full of spirit, hope and love that is too irresistible to ignore! This book, as well as the series, should be on your must read list.
I liked this book much better than the previous one. I listened to the audiobook via Hoopla and thought the narrator did an excellent job.
Cash had his own issues that resulted from his time in the service. One of his last attempts at moving past those issues didn’t work out, and he ended up at Resolution Ranch. Kate needed her own brand of healing which brought her to the same place.
Cash and Kate had a rough start, but discovered they fulfilled a need in one another. I liked that although they started out feeling broken, they didn’t seem to wallow in it through the entire book.
I have to be honest. If you read the previous book, “A Hero’s Heart”, some of that dialogue repeats in this book. The previous book shows Emma and Kate’s encounter as well as Sterling, Cash, and Kate’s encounter from different perspectives. Therefore, Emma makes a reappearance. I found her even more irritating.
The other unlikable person in this book was Kate’s mother. Kate’s friend Cheyenne, was Kate’s rock.
Cash and Kate had this instant attraction, but their relationship seemed to move forward, grow, and they started to heal. Their lives changed and they reached their HEA.
This was an evenly paced, sweet, steamy romance. You could read it as a standalone, but I think you get a fuller picture if you read them in order.
Kate needed to get away after firing her agent, she wants to do something besides sit around resting her voice. Her best friend Cheyenne suggests Prairie, she works the Walnut Valley Festival there every year and really loves the people.
Cash knows who their new hand ‘Kate’ is right from the start. He wonders why Kaycee Starr is there and using an alias. But he also finds himself seeking her out. They first enjoy ice cream and playing cards, when she can’t talk.
Cash invites her for a steak dinner and that starts a very sensual, beautiful, loving relationship.
Now Travis has some problems stemming from having information withheld from him, especially after Kate’s identity is leaked in a video hacked from Emma’s stolen phone.
However, no one has more problems when this information leaks than Kate aka Kaycee Starr. With everything out in the open, she has decisions to make. Decisions about her future without the concerts, her mother’s harping and without her manipulative agent but maybe with a certain cowboy named Cash.
Family drama in the form of her overbearing mother, love and support from her best friend Cheyenne and best of all lots of love and affection from Cash!
I laughed, I cried and couldn’t put this book down. I really love the way these books intertwine with the Cowboy’s of the Flint Hills series.
I hope Cheyenne has a book in the future, she should be close to her best friend.
Loved this book and the entire series.
I love it ! A story of heartbreak, pain, friendship and support. It also has love, passion, and emotional drama. Both Cash and Kate feel they are damaged and broken beyond repair. As the chemistry, spark and emotion develope between them they learn from and help each other. This story will grab your emotions and keep you reading until the very end. This is another great and emotion story of redemption, recovery and healing by Ms Layne. It will pull at your heart strings and make you fall in love with all the characters and want to move to the small town.
Cash is a veteran with a lot of demons chasing him. He can’t forget the loss of a team mate during a mission. He goes to Resolution Ranch to get help.
Kate is a famous singer who loses her voice and decides to get away from all the paparazzi and her annoying mother.
Since the very beginning, they feel a current between them. It is incredible how they sense the need and feelings in the other person and help each other to feel better.
I like this series and one of the reasons is because the characters from Prairie we already know from Cowboys of the Flint Hills are still there.
I like how Cash and Kate trust each other and how complete they feel when they are together.
The book is well-written and the characters well-developed. There should be more places like Resolution Ranch to help people in distress and learn how to turn the page of their past lives and get on with a new one.
Cash and Kate are both staying at Resolution Ranch. Cash is invited by Travis Kincaid to help get the ranch ready for the opening. Kate is laying low and healing from throat surgery. Although they came separately to the ranch, they’re both there to find out if they have what it takes to trust themselves and others.
Cash is finding it hard to forgive himself for things that he has done in his past. He feels he’s let down his family, friends, former boss, and even a client because of his past actions. He can’t trust himself. He needs to find peace. Can he do it at the ranch?
Kaycee is a Country singer who has a stalker. Her best friend arranges for her to hide out on the ranch as a stable hand. No one knows who she is and why she’s there. Kaycee aka Kate has also had vocal surgery and has been advised not to talk. She needs to rest her voice. She loves being on the farm and is enjoying the peace and quiet. She needs to figure out what’s next in her life if her voice doesn’t come back.
When Cash and Kate meet it’s like two halves becoming a whole. They truly complete each other. They’re helping each other heal without even realizing it. When things start to escalate, Cash and Kate need to make decisions that could affect the ranch.
Tessa’s books are standalone but are so much better reading in order. Her writing style is incredible. She does a wonderful job of introducing characters with just enough information that you feel like you’ve none them forever. The information never seems to be the same as in the other books in the series. So the characters seem to be fresh and new, (even if you already know them). Tessa’s books seem to take me through every emotion. The best part is after reading her books I feel like love is possible for everyone.
I originally received this as an arc (advanced readers copy) …..BUT, once again I finished and had to buy and add this to my collection. This is a must have series. Thank you as always Tessa for writing such amazing men and women. I love how you portray the individual who served in the military. My wish is that all Veterans get the help and guidance they need to make them feel at peace with themselves. They deserve that much.
I loved reading Cash and Kate’s story!! finally understanding the problems and openings from the other books in the series!
A Hero’s Haven: Resolution Ranch (Flint Hills Military Heroes Book 3) by Tessa Layne. This is Cash and Kate’s story.
I fell in love with Cash and Kate’s characters. I loved how Cash and Kate interacted with each other. They both have issues that they haven’t dealt with and secrets so neither are looking for a relationship. But the chemistry and the attraction is so strong between them. Will they give in to this attraction and take a chance on love?
This was a fun, emotional, heartwarming, and steamy read. This is another great addition to this series.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A Hero’s Haven is book 3 in the Resolution Ranch series by Tessa Layne and like her other books in this series she shows how the ranch is helping veterans get back to living after serving their country.
Cash Aiken has come to the ranch after encouragement from Travis when his mission as a bodyguard fails when he freezes and almost costs a huge country music artist her life. Now he needs to find a way to deal with his PTSD and rebuild his life. That is until he meets the new person on the ranch, Kate Montgomery (aka Kaycee Starr) the person he was to protect.
Even with sparks flying between them he worries that someone will find out she is hiding out on the ranch to figure out where her life is taking her after she received the devastating news about her voice. This time can he protect her and show her that she has more to offer than just her voice and maybe build a life together or will he fail her and himself one last time??
Cash is a man who is working on his demons at Resolution Ranch. Having been in the military and a bodyguard, he has seen action and some things didn’t go as planned. One of his ops had to do with protecting a country singer who he instantly felt a strong pull towards. After that assignment, he ends up at Resolution Ranch knowing he needs to seek help with his PTSD.
Kate is the newest member of Resolution Ranch. She is also there incognito hoping from a break from her mother and the paparazzi. She needs a break to clear her head after some devastating news. At the ranch she find comfort among the horses and good people.
She is drawn to Cash and the sexual chemistry these two have is off the charts. They both are dealing with demons that they need to work on while falling for each other.
I will admit there were parts that were hard to read, they were necessary but yet when you grow to love a character, you feel protective of them. These conversations were between Cash and Travis.
Is it possible to get a second chance to be with your soulmate even though you feel you are unable to truly love anyone?
Cash Aiken knows that working for Travis Kincaid on the Resolution Ranch is the only hope he has of ridding the demons from his mind, and making peace with the loss of his Navy Seal teammates. He lost three men including his best friend Hamm, whose son is now being raised by his grandparents. Cash feels that he has let everyone down that he has ever loved, including a beautiful and magical woman that almost died because of his fears. He loves the quiet peacefulness of the ranch and he hopes that over time, he will once again be the man that people can depend on, not the useless shell of a man he is now. He needs to be strong again so he can help the other veterans at the ranch realize that they will always be important to their families and their communities.
Kaycee Starr used to always have a song in her heart, ready to be played on her guitar and shared with her fans. All that was taken away when she was terrorized by a crazy stalker and was forced to become a prisoner in her own home. Even though her stalker was caught, she feels that she needs to get away from her demanding mother so she can hopefully become the woman that she wants to be. Her best friend and bandmate told her about a small town in Kansas that would be just the place to hide out and reevaluate her life. Kaycee got a job as a stable hand and horse groomer at Resolution Ranch, which came with a cozy cabin where she could hide away at night. Of course she brought her guitar, but it sits idle in the corner of her room. She was sheltered by her mother all of her life and has no experience with men, so when she met her sexy neighbor Cash, she didn’t know what to do about the immediate attraction she had for him. He seemed troubled and sad and she hoped that she could take away his pain and make him smile again.
Will Cash let Kaycee into his heart for a life filled with happiness? Or will his past behavior push her away?
Will Kaycee be strong enough to pursue her dreams and will Cash be by her side on her journey?
I am so excited that Cash and Kaycee finally have their story. She is a talented and beautiful person who deserves to be loved and cherished Cash fell in love with Kaycee when he first met her and together, they were able to help each other heal and look forward to the future. I love the Resolution Ranch Series because it highlights the struggles that all veterans have when they come home and how with teamwork and love, they can feel whole once again.
