Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. The Academy of the Devil is waiting, and there will be no mercy. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the girl who didn’t fit in, the girl who collapsed in the middle of class, just because my brain decided to turn on me. I can’t really complain, though. We don’t live in the Middle Ages, so I have yet to be subjected to an exorcism. I can get treatment for … get treatment for my condition. Epilepsy aside, I can mostly be a normal person and have a normal life.
There’s just one problem. I’m not a normal person. I never have been. And the first time I find this out is upon receiving an exclusive invitation to The Academy of the Devil.
Unfortunately, The Academy of the Devil isn’t like other schools and the current princes of the school have a lot of experience in ripping whatever contender they have to shreds. First, there’s Callum, incubus extraordinaire and leader of the house of Lust. He thrives on making students fall in love with him and then breaking their spirits. Then there’s Mikael, the envious cambion, rumored to enjoy feeding students to the school’s dragon. And last, but not least, the leader of the house of Wrath, the hell hound Stefan. I hear he doesn’t bother with the dragon and just takes care of pests himself.
All of them despise humans. All of them sneer at anyone who displays any kind of weakness. All of them hate me and everything I stand for. That’s fine. I don’t need friends, lovers, or even valued mentors. All I need is to survive my school years with my soul, my sanity and my brain intact.
It’ll be a challenge, but I’ve dealt with worse. I might not be ready for the Academy of the Devil, but they’re not ready for me either.

Alyssa Michaelis’ (the MFC) life is hellish (cue the title!) or more to the point shes living in Hell. Well at least shes going to the academy there but not by choice. Her first day there and she realises that nearly everyone there doesnt want her there. Of course they let her know that at every opportunity. Most unwelcoming of all is Callum, Mikael and Stefan. Three students that take an instant dislike to Alyssa. Not that shes bothered by it all. She has more than enough problems in this book but i love how she doesnt dwell on it and stays upbeat with all thats going on around her. Shes a great character. I loved her wit and sarcasm which she needed with some of the things that happen to her in this book. I love books about Demons and Angels so this book is right up my street. Absolutely Brilliant
It is hard to know who to trust when you are told from the beginning that not all is what it seems. Those who are nice want something, and those who are mean care. But what happens when it goes from mean to nice, nice to mean, and the cycle repeats? Yeah….trust me, it doesn’t help matters at all.
Alyssa had so much to juggle in such a short amount of time. Having been told she needs to attend The Academy of the Devil, having to stay clear of the ‘princes of the school’, managing and hiding her epilepsy, passing her classes, and trying to avoid death was a lot easier said than done. You cannot show weakness in this world because you are most likely to be eaten alive.
Well this book has officially made it on my top favorites! It was ridiculously amazing! I cannot wait for the next book!
This story was so well written that it took a life of it’s own. I felt myself teleport to this world and experience life through Alyssa’s eyes. The twists and turns in this book were incredible because so much was unpredictable!
That epilogue though…. did not see that coming! Worth the read!
