I just didn’t like it.
Different but good
Great series. I like the unconventional characters. The story lines are creative and interesting. All in all, a fun read.
Fantasy – enjoyed characters .. good plot
I love all of her books! This series is a winner and with Emerald and Joe as a couple with a mature relationship that includes respect and dedication to each other as well as love, it cant be beat! The paranormal activity is not pushed as the main source of the book, so the story pushing along with many of the characters I already loved from her prior books! In this book, they uncover a home foundation, lose a cat, wait for Halloween and include all the ordinary homely things necessary in life. Well done!
Ok
Good read. I like Ms Galenorn’s chintz and china stories. Em and her clan are fun, engaging characters. the ghosts and things that go bump in the night keep her o her toes. And yet Em displays real fears and doubts about her life and what she’s supposed to do with it. And Joe is the perfect husband. Any woman would want to be married to him.
I don’t usually read witchcraft /occult books but these characters are really engaging, looking foreword to reading the rest of this series!!
I liked the book it was one that kept my attention.
Enjoyed the paranormal and how it’s dealt with.
It was cute. Not a bad little story.
But ….
As a tea drinker, I was appalled. She is said to own a tea shop. All she ever mentions are herbal blends and weird flavored stuff. A good tea shop sells tea. You know, blacks, greens, oolongs — actual, real tea. The owner would talk of the nuances that distinguish, say, 5 different varieties of Assam. That sort of thing.
The character’s chief “quirk” is her obsession with extra strong lattes and such. A coffee shop would have made a lot more sense.
I know this seems trivial, but it was so silly, it distracted me all the way through the book. If you’re going to give a character a job, and an over-mentioned quirk, they should align. Or at least make them understand the parameters of the job.
Like the people but the story just felt too long.
I enjoyed this book. The characters were likable and well developed; the plot was interesting and moved quickly with some unexpected twists and turns.
fun read , something out of the ordinary.
Fun, quick read. Interesting characters.
Fun read
Emerald O’Brien and Joe Files are an item, and Joe has bought an empty lot next to Emerald’s house thinking that they’d expand to the new lot after they’d married. In the process of clearing the lot, they uncovered a skeleton along with a fifty year old mystery. One thing I like best about the Chintz and China books is that the author treats different beliefs (spiritualism, native beliefs, ancient ways) with respect. The details of special cleansing rites, fo example, become teachable moments for readers. The romance in the book is true and family-centered, not lurid. Friendship is a cornerstone of the book, but the author doesn’t try to push any agenda onto the reader.
This book is very enjoyable & a fast read.
I have enjoyed this series. Clever whodunnits with a little mystic added in. Easy reading.
Good cozy read.
