Holly Hart is strong, dependable, a beloved teacher—and lonely. Though she loves her middle schoolers deeply, Holly long ago left behind thoughts of romantic love. When Valentine’s Day rolls around each year, she struggles to deal with painful memories. Instead of attending yet another awkward middle school dance as a chaperone, Holly escapes into Copper, Colorado’s, great outdoors for a picnic … picnic to clear her head. In the distance, a snowstorm looms.
Duke Cartwright and his family have been on the same land for generations. The bighearted cowboy never takes much time to think about the future—he’s too busy tending to the wide array of animals his family rescues. He certainly doesn’t have time for love.
Though Duke is no stranger to snowstorms, this one is a doozy, and he blows a tire. Whether it’s luck or part of God’s plan for him, it’s while he’s tending to his truck that he spots an unconscious woman in the snow. He’s able to get Holly to the safety of an old mining cabin where they ride out the worst of it.
Neither wants to admit that something warm still lingers between them even after the storm ends. When another accident strikes, will they be open-minded enough to see the love of a lifetime God has placed within arm’s reach?

This is the first time for me reading one of Kellie Abbott’s books and I’m so glad I did! It’s a very clean and sweet feel-good romance that captured my attention right from the start. I couldn’t help but being invested in Holly and Duke’s happily ever after. Both are in need of love and are perfect for each other. Thay also had such great chemistry. This is a really delightful read and I would highly recommend for a nice cozy afternoon!

This sweet romance was a very enjoyable read with a well written storyline and wonderfully created characters that kept me totally enthralled until the turn of the very last page!
A Valentine’s Day Novella by an Author I have not read before, I see she has another Valentine’s book which I will be reading. This is a well written story with a very good storyline, the story flowed smoothly across the pages. The description made you feel like you where there watching teacher Holly Hart and cowboy Duke Cartwright meet, he finds he unconscious in the snow. I will be reading this story again.
Holly Hart was in college when she started dated this guy, and they were very serious. When she thought he was going to propose on Valentine’s Day, he left a card at her dorm room door breaking up with her. After that she could never enjoyed Valentine’s Day again. Years later teaching sixth grade at Copper, Colorado middle school she was always trying to figure a way out of being a sponsor at the school Valentine Day dance, but without fail she would be one of the teachers called upon to attend to watch over all the students. One thing she liked to do to rebalance herself was to up into the mountains and spend time alone. She knew that in winter she had to take provisions in case she was caught in a storm. She knew a heavy snow storm was coming, but she thought there was time. She was enjoying her time so much that she did not start back early enough and got caught in the storm. It became near white out conditions to the point, she thought she had taken the wrong turn as a result she was going to turn around going back to start over. As she was trying to turn the truck slipped on the ice going over some rocks throwing her from the truck and knocking her out for some time.
Duke Cartwright along with his parents and brother, Travis lived at the top the mountain outside of Copper. He needed to make a trip into town to pickup some feed before the storm hit, since he had not picked it up earlier in the week. He took off down the mountain to pickup supplies, but on the way back he had a flat on his truck. After he changed the flat and he was getting back into the truck the dog that had stowed away started howling and wanted out of the truck. Duke let the dog out, and he took Duke to where Holly was laying practically snow covered by now. Duke remembered, they were not to far from an old cabin that would give them some shelter until the storm let up. He got her to the cabin and helped her into some of his dry cloths. They managed to survive on emergency supplies Duke had in his truck and each other’s body heat until Travis found them a few days later during a slight break in the storm.
Holly was always the tomboy type of girl, so she liked going out to the barn with Duke to help with the chores. They had leads to all the out buildings for safety as the storm had started back up in full force again. Holly needed medical attention, but there was no way to get her off the mountain. Nothing was broken, she was just black and blue, including her face. Duke and Holly spent as much time together a possible, but Duke knew Holly was holding something back from him. He wanted her to trust him, but he did not know how to get her to open up to him. He finally pushed her one day to open up. She did some, but not all the way. He knew that, so he knew he still had a lot more thinking to do. He went off to the wood shed, and after awhile he made a decision, and on his way back to the house the lead snapped leaving him stranded helplessly in the blizzard. Holly and Jude had finished a game chess and Duke had not joined them for the evening, and Holly thought she needed to talk to him after their talk earlier that day, so she went to his room to see if he was reading. He did not answer when she knocked. Upon returning to the family room she told his family that Duke must have turned in early. Travis ran from the room to check on Duke and his parents immediately became alarmed. Travis returned saying Duke was not in his room. The two male Cartwright’s argued with Duke’s mother that she could not go out, and Holly was on her way to the mud room to dress to go searching for Duke. You need read this surprising fun short romantic story of a couple that waited a long time to meet the right person. Will they find Duke in time and how will they find him? Holly only thought she was alone little did she know. Check it out you will not be sorry.

This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Kellie Abbott; she has done a great job at writing a good short story; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Holly was foolish heading out before a winter storm started because she wanted to get away for awhile. She’s lucky Duke and his dog Baxer found her after she was thrown from her vehicle. They become closer as they’ve stuck together first in the remote cabin and later at his family’s ranch. She had her heart broken before and he has to show her that she is worthy of being loved. This was a clean christian Valentine’s romance with a bit of instant love as the couple only knew each other a few weeks at the epilogue.
An appealing and well-written tale.
I like Holly from the start an all American girl who had a jerk of a boyfriend. Holly was not into Valentines so this year she was going to do something different. Now wouldn’t you know good old fate has something up its sleeve? Meet Duke our cowboy and hero of the story. This is a faith-based story it is a delightful tale that will brighten up your day. I know not everyone likes a feel-good romance but this one was so appealing and so well-written that it would have been hard not to be entertained by it. Do yourself a favor and check this one out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Loved this short sweet romance with Holly who is a lonely school teacher who just wants to get away this Valentine Day so she goes on a picnic in the rustic outdoors. Luke spends all his time taking care of his ranch and does not have time for anything else but when he finds Holly on side of the road he takes her in and cares for her. This is a well written book and had great characters.
