She has no idea what she’s doing. Loose cannons never hit their targets. And they take out plenty of collateral damage.Four years ago Lindsay experienced the unspeakable right before me, and I couldn’t stop them. But that’s all changed now. When her father, Senator Bosworth, contacted me to ask — demand — that I protect her, it was a second chance. A shot at redemption. An opportunity to right an … redemption.
An opportunity to right an unspeakable wrong.
Controlling Lindsay as she seeks her revenge on the monsters who hurt her won’t be hard.
Containing my own out-of-control feelings for Lindsay and keeping up this ruse of cold-blooded distance will be.
Even harder than admitting to her what really happened that night four years ago.
It turns out I don’t have to, though.
Someone else did it for me.
And I’ll make sure they regret it.

What a rollercoaster!! That cliffhanger would kill me if the final book wasn’t already out. This audio has me ready to jump right into the conclusion
3 stars
This one just moved a lot slower than I thought it would. I still want to read the next one to find out some answers.
Sebastian York did a good job narrating.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Part 2 of Lindsay and Drew’s trilogy is just as thrilling as part one. Damn my nails are gonna be terrible after this.
Great read!
4.5 Stars
I loved it!
This second book is entirely from Drew’s POV and I actually liked this even better than the first from Lindsay’s.
The Story:
Four years ago not only Lindsay’s life was changed by three men but also Drew’s. Lindsay is enraged but so is Drew. Those three men have still not received their deserved punishment and now Lindsay’s receiving threats and text messages by them. Drew is on high alert but his feelings for her have a negative effect on his work and his emotions are getting harder to ignore with each day.
Thoughts:
The story picked up where the first book ended though was now from Drew’s perspective. It’s equally suspenseful as the first book if not more because Drew’s alertness made me really tense.
I loved the book for its suspense but the romance part or rather the rushed intimacy was something that bothered me already in the first book as well as in this one. I had to push through the middle part because it felt rather slow to read but after that I was captured again by Drew and his struggles.
The book was well written and Drew really grew on me though Lindsay was still annoying sometimes because I never knew what she was thinking and she had constant mood swings.
OMG the huge cliffhanger at the end was killing me! I can’t believe that the author ended this book at such a suspenseful part! It was killing me to read the last few pages! I want the next book now! I need to know who’s all involved in that scheme. Give those Bastards what they deserve!
This series is actually one of my first political thriller read’s and I really like it a lot so far even with the constant hate towards Lindsay’s family.
If you’re looking for a suspenseful book that keeps you on the edge until the very end – or at least until the end of each book so far – than this will be a good story for you.
Again WOW!! A Harmless Little Ruse picks up where Book 1 ended and is told from Drew’s POV. Just like the first book, there are so many facets and layers to this story. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. There is no way to know who can be trusted, who is not what they seem, who can be bought or otherwise coerced, or how deep the lies and betrayal go. This is a political thriller at its finest. This is Book 2 of a trilogy so there are still so many unanswered questions. I can’t wait to find out what happens in Book 3.
3 -Disappointed- Stars
I had high hopes after reading A Harmless Little Game. Those were dashed pretty quick.
Seen from Drew’s perspective, the author gives us more paranoia, lack of trust, and a twist that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.
The paranoia is justified to an extent. The set-ups and frame jobs are spectacular. Lindsey’s parents are unfeeling morons. The little emotion they show is quickly hidden and overcome by their ambitious nature. Drew has moments of trust issues where Lindsey is concerned that seem ridiculous. After what she’s been through and all he knows, he should expect her to act the way she does.
Her reaction to his secret from the night of the “incident,’ on the other hand, is total bull. He’s happy she doesn’t reject him, but what the hell? She’s happy? She feels like this makes them equals? Where’s the empathy? The appalling feeling that someone you love was abused in the same way you were? Where’s the outrage on his behalf? I felt more for him in that moment than she did! I was actually disgusted with her then.
I’ll read the next one to see how it ends, but I’m not going into it with any enthusiasm. I doubt Lindsey can redeem herself.
So here we have the second instalment A harmless Little Ruse (Harmless, #2) By Meli Raine.
I read this immediately upon finishing book one, I was that gripped by this story.
This begins directly where the first one ends and unlike the previous tale is told from Drew’s POV.
This was a major plus point for me for as I believe I mentioned in my previous review that even though I liked Lindsay there were certain times I still found myself getting slightly irritated at the girl’s choices.
So I found this a complete breath of fresh air in contrast and we also get the added bonus of understanding Drew much more.
Drew is brought fully into the spotlight here and we get to witness his inner thought process and understand in more depth the events of four years ago.
If I had to pick a favourite out of these two rating them both four stars this would so be it.
I found Lindsay Doubly irritating in “A Harmless little Ruse” as she seemed to be blowing hot and cold throughout.
I also struggled with how she wasn’t telling her parents to piss off in regards to her relationship with Drew.
She’s a bloody twenty-three-year-old Adult woman for christ sake!!!
Can’t believe she let them paint him in such a bad light with the media either.
Shaking my head in disbelief here girlfriend, what were you thinking, he loves you so much.
As for Drew, what I learned, well all I can say heartbreaking.
So This gets four stars all on the merits of Drew who I absolutely adore.
Lindsay herself can go suck eggs, I’m hoping she is able to redeem herself in book three.
I am crossing my fingers in hope, but not holding my breath considering her past behaviour your free pass from me has now expired my girl, get with the program.
So this ended on such a cliffhanger yet again and I so need to fast forward to see if the bad guys get there comeuppance in spades.
everything I can cross is crossed here.
Well on to book three for the conclusion to this addictive trilogy.

What can I say the second book loses me. It is written from the man’s point of view. I’m not super excited by switching the characters point of view but I’ll roll wth it. It continues where the first book ended and dives even deeper into the characters emotions. A little to deep I think, the female lead from the first book does an about face on her character every 5 pages or the male leader is reading her completely wrong. It felt like in an effort to add a twist to the plot everyone became really stupid and predictably unpredictable.
