Two lives forever changed… will they find healing in the journey?
Leighton is finally beginning to recover from the loss of her husband. Trying to move forward, she and her daughter move to a new town so she can begin a new job as an occupational therapist. But she never counted on the way her heart would respond to the wounded firefighter who is battling for his own version of recovery.
… firefighter who is battling for his own version of recovery.
Brexen was living his dream until a tragic accident ended his firefighting career, leaving him feeling like half the man he used to be. His intriguing new therapist is just as stubborn as he is, and comes with a little girl that wriggles her way into his heart.
Torn between their pasts and their futures, can Leighton and Brexen finally break down their walls for good and realize that together they can be whole again?
A Half Made Whole is the first book in the Finding Home series. This is an inspirational story of healing and overcoming loss.

This book. *sigh*
It’s no secret that I love romance books with some sexy times in them. But I also love a really good, well-written sweet romance. And A Half Made Whole is one of those stories that I just fell in love with. This is K. Leah’s second published book and there’s so much growth in her writing since her first book. Full of emotion, there were scenes that literally made me have to take a step back and breathe a moment before I could continue reading. Leighton’s & Brexen’s journies are powerful and heartwrenching, yet full of hope. And I hope you’ll dive in and ride the emotional waves of a truly sweet story as it ebbs and flows to their happily ever after!
The characters were great and the romance slow building… It was predictable, but that’s not always a bad thing.
I was a little put off that no one but the main couple were interested in the ethics of keeping the therapist/patient relationship in a professional/business level.
Brexen and Leighton are both dealing with wounds from the past, she from losing her husband in a car accident and he from a fire that took part of his leg and the full use of his left arm. He’s bitter and lashes out at the beginning of the book, but he finally decides to stop feeling sorry for himself and his sister Bristol, his occupational therapist Leighton, and her four year old daughter Kamryn give him plenty of reasons to change. Kamryn was precocious and provided a lot of funny moments in this book. Brexen and Leighton are friends and are afraid to risk it by asking for more and when he sees her with a whole man Brexton starts to wonder if he’ll ever be good enough. I was frustrated when he just abruptly shut her out without asking her who Chase was. He hurt not just Leighton, but her daughter who was very attached to him.
This book kept me reading far into the night. Leighton, Braxen, & Kamryn were not just characters in a story. They became friends. I ached to help them through their pain and I rejoiced in their happiness. Speaking of Kamryn, she is the most adorable toddler ever. Every word out of her mouth made me smile.
The occupational therapy and firefighting themes in the book are realistic and add to the storyline. I appreciate the research that obviously went into creating the book.
The minor characters are an integral part of A Half Made Whole. They are very relatable as family and friends. I think several of them are worthy of their own story.
I highly recommend this sweet, clean romance.
This book broke my heart and put it back together. The characters are raw and real. It was a perfect example of overcoming your past and seeing what you deserve after all the heartache. She creates a canvas that is clean, wholesome and pretty darn amazing!! I loved this book so much and I highly recommend it.
Brexen and Leighton are absolutely stunning together. They have such strong feelings, but their past makes it so hard to tell the other how they feel. The miscommunication makes things so much harder as well. This book hits every heart string you have and you will go back for more from this author!
Can I possibly give more than 5 stars? I think this story deserves all the stars and more. This was just perfectly brilliant. I loved reading this book so much. Once I started reading I found myself not stopping for anything. I was hooked. The characters were amazing and the storyline was fantastic. Definitely one of my top reads this year.
With the unexpected death of her husband Avery, Leighton was not sure if she was ready to move on.
After an injury on the job Brexen didn’t believe that someone could see past his limitations enough to care for or love him. K. Leah did a great job of writing a good clean romance. I was rooting for the two of them the entire book. Leighton and Brexen needed each other to be whole. True love always finds it’s way home! And can I just add that Leighton has an adorable daughter, Kamryn who I fell in love with. I love the way Mrs. Leah captures her cute language. You’ve got to check out this book….hummm…now will Chase (You’ll have to read to find out who Chase is.) get his story??
After losing her husband, Leighton is broken but attempting to start a new life with a new career. Brexen, who was seriously injured in a fire, is also finding the motivation to start fresh. Their paths cross, and it’s a beautiful story of two people coming out of tragedy together. I thought both characters were written with a lot of emotional depth. The romance element is charming and sweet while still being realistic.
Thank you to K. Leah for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review!
