I fell in love with A Guy Walks Into My Bar and the main characters. Their love story had me feeling all sorts of emotions! The chemistry between the two was beautiful, breathtaking and explosive!! The narrators (Audible Version) performance was like no other PHENOMENAL, AMAZING, and SPECTACULAR!! I enjoyed this book so much Thank You!!
I’m going to start my review by telling you there was one thing that grated on my last nerve from almost the first page about this story but when I realized the grating was interfering with my enjoyment of a really great romance journey, I *paused* and came back to the book almost two weeks later and started over. I did that because I recognized that it had nothing to do with the writing or development of the story, it was 100% a me issue and I wasn’t in the right head-space to continue. You’re probably asking yourself why I’m even sharing this with you since the book is a ridiculous 5+ star story in my book … I’m doing it because it doesn’t happen often, but it does happen and a lot of readers don’t *pause* and therefor don’t enjoy the book they’re reading. If it happens to you at some point in your future, take the *pause*, you won’t regret it 🙂
About this swoony, sexy, utterly delicious story … it was engaging and humorous, it was sexy with sizzling chemistry in and out of the bedroom, it was a burst of pure joy and happiness! Dean and Fitz were all these things wrapped up in a well developed insta turned to so much more story!! I especially enjoyed the world that Lauren created where the conflict was within them and not society. I couldn’t have asked for a better fell-good romance! If I had to use only one word to describe this book, it would be joy!
So I went into this kinda blind, I mean I read the blurb and thought what the heck, I’ll take a chance on it. Boy am I so glad that I did! This book… This book has so much and sucked me so hard(haha play on words). Anyway, back to Dean and Fitz.. These two have instant chemistry but Dean isn’t ready to commit just yet. Despite this being a short fling, there’s a real connection between the two of them. I love the sarcasm, the wit and banter between them. Fitz is American and a extremely hot hockey player.. Honestly his personality and his love for his family made me love him so much! He gives back so much to them and isn’t afraid to show his feelings especially with Dean. Both of these guys are mature and know exactly what they want in life. I really enjoyed reading their story and how despite living almost 4,000 miles apart, they make it work in the end. This was a beautiful, sweet and sexy book with characters you will love, laugh and swoon for. This is exactly what you want in a M/M book!
A Guy Walks Into My Bar is a stand alone M/M romance by Lauren Blakely. Now normally I don’t read M/M romance. In fact, I never have before. Well, until now. Thanks to me not reading the blurb. I just saw Lauren’s name and jumped at the chance to read this being she’s one of my favorite authors. And surprisingly, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Dean and Fitz were well matched with a connection that couldn’t be ignored. They were sexy, witty, charming and lovable. The undeniable chemistry, the banter, the intimacy – I enjoyed each and every second of it. What started out as a no strings attached fling quickly turned into something so much more. It was a sweet and highly addictive love story that I could hardly bring myself to put down.
Being this was her first foray into M/M romance, Blakely did a fabulous job. All of her stories are wonderfully passionate love stories, and this one was no different. I loved the easy relationship between Dean and Fitz, and how they fell for each other despite their reservations. These two captured my heart from the very beginning. If you’re looking for a fun, super hot and sweet romance, then look no further. Five stars for Dean, Fitz and A Guy Walks Into My Bar!
Lauren Blakely hit it out of the park with her first attempt at M/M romance! She is always a go to author for me when I am in the mood for easy and nice romances, she focuses more on the connection between the two main characters and doesn’t add unnecessary drama just for the sake of it! Fitz has made appearances in the last couple of books and I loved his carefree personality, it was a great switch to see him so laser focused on Dean once they saw each other! I can’t wait to listen to the audiobook because I keep picturing Dean’s accent to be sexy as hell! The chemistry between Fitz and Dean was off the charts and the sex scenes were flippin hot, seriously some of the best I’ve read in a long time! I always love Lauren Blakely’s epilogues because she usually gives more than one and they wrap things up nice and neat for me, it makes me so happy to see into their future and know their relationship is thriving!
I’ve not read many M/M romances, but I can say with 100% certainty that if Lauren Blakely writes another one, I will read it! A Guy Walks Into My Bar was a dreamy instalove romance featuring Fitz, a sexy American Hockey star and Dean, an equally delicious British Bartender. Dean is determined to fight his attraction to Fitz, but he is no match for the sexy determination of Fitz. Fitz just wants a one week fling, but Dean changes it all. Did I mention that this book is smoking hot? You better keep a tall glass of water on hand to put out the fire!
I loved this story! Fitz and Dean were hot and I loved their dynamic. Both certain they were looking for a hookup and it working because Fitz was visiting London and would be back in New York in days. But chemistry got in the way and wow did they have chemistry. I loved their dirty talk and how they couldn’t resist PDA. These two were so hot together and I couldn’t get enough of them. Lauren Blakely killed it with her first MM book!
I couldn’t love Lauren Blakey more than I do in is moment. Ms. Blakey never ceases to amaze me. She’s the queen of rom-com but I have to say this story took it to another level.
Fitz intrigued me in “The What If Guy”, I was excited when I found out he would get his own story. This is a fun, witty, entertaining and heartfelt journey to go on with Fitz and Dean. This was possibly the sweetest and most enjoyable romantic stories I have read in a while. Well done Ms. Blakey!
Heartfelt and captivating, with a whole lot of ‘cheeky’ love.
Dean and Fitz have a story not to be missed!
Get your hands all over this steamy novel!
First of all can we all stop and stare at this gorgeous cover for a minute or two???
I mean come on; I wouldn’t mind him walking into my bar for sure….H-O-T!!!!
Now back to the two men that will steal your heart for the get-go. I loved Fitz and his easy-going nature. I absolutely loved Dean with his pro and cons and thinking everything through before acting on it. These two had such strong chemistry that I could feel my fingers burning while I was turning pages. I was loving the funny banter and the side characters that gave this story that something extra for me to feel all the fricking feels.
Its been a while from my last book by the amazing Lauren Blakely and I feel silly it took me this long to return because this book just showed how much I love her writing style. I can’t wait for the next book to come along.

۵A Guy Walks Into My Bar is the highly anticipated, and phenomenal third installment into The Guys Who Got Away series by Lauren Blakely۵; and let me tell you, this has been one of the most spectacular storylines I have EVER listen/read in this genre. A Brilliant Masterpiece of a world full of love, and acceptance with richly drawn characters that’ll still your heart!!
This wonderful story is a Brilliant Masterpiece of a world full of love and acceptance, brilliantly and expertly brought to life by Joe Arden and Shane East. You’ll love their compelling dual narration that perfectly captures, and evokes all the emotions. This amazing audiobook also includes ten narrators playing their friends and family, to give listeners more of what they’ve been asking for – another full cast audiobook from Lauren Blakely!
All in all, this is an amazing full story of EPIC proportions that I truly loved and enjoyed from start to end. Author Lauren Blakely delivers another un-put-down-able gem, that you don’t want to miss. I FREAKING LOVED IT ON BOTH VERSIONS (EBOOK & AUDIOBOOK) BECAUSE THE EXPERIENCE WAS TWICE REWARDING!!
A book slips into my tablet and walks away with my heart. I have three people to thank for that: a genius of an author, a cocky American athlete, and a sexy British bartender–Lauren Blakely, James Fitzgerald, and Dean Collins. When Blakely announced that she was going to release her first-ever M/M romance, I must confess that I was both excited and anxious. I’ve read a few–a lot of…A WHOLE LOT OF–M/M romances, and if I’m being wholeheartedly honest, it’s my favorite romance sub-genre. So, when one of my favorite go-to authors tells fans and readers that she’s got a book that about two guys who meet in a bar, well, suffice it to say that my curiosity was more than piqued. And now, I’m done reading A Guy Walks Into My Bar, the third standalone in Blakely’s The Guys Who Got Away series, and I am gobsmacked, not because of her quality of writing because I’ve never had a sliver of a doubt as to the fact that this author has a gift for creating romances worth reading, but because Blakely did NOT disappoint when it came to her first foray into M/M romance. Heck, she absolutely knocked me off my feet. I was expecting a great read; instead, what a got was a phenomenal one. All the stars for A Guy Walks Into My Bar. Every single star.
I *bleep*ing love this book. That is all.
See that cheesy, dopey, lovestruck smile on my face? That is a direct result of Lauren Blakely’s newest release, A Guy Walks Into My Bar. I loved this book! I love every fun, sexy, swoony thing about it. Love, love, love. From the outstanding character connections to the top shelf caliber flirting and the hot AF moments, it’s easy for me to claim that this is one of my favorite reads in 2020.
Dean with all his sexy Brit wit and Fitz, the uber charming and confident American hockey player are amazing together. Their chemistry was evident from the start. What started as a short fling grew into something so powerful. The way they fell so easily into a natural banter made me squeal with delight. It’s no secret, I love a good verbal back and forth. Lauren Blakely’s dialogue in this book was simply perfect.
I have to say, seeing Fitz fall in love is probably my favorite male character falling ever because it’s such a genuine wonderment and shock for him. He didn’t know what to do with his feelings making a few mistakes here and there because of those feelings. Still, it was so cute to see him truly care for Dean.
This may have been Lauren Blakely’s first MM romance but she nailed it flawlessly. Their sexual orientation wasn’t for – lack of a better phrase – a big deal. Dean and Fitz were simply two people falling in love and they just happened to be men. How beautiful.
I wholeheartedly recommend picking up A Guy Walks into My Bar. Especially if you want to laugh, swoon and feel all kinds of giddiness.
It’s like the biggest start to a joke but really Fitz (a guy) walks into a bar and meets Dean, the man that is destined to be the love of each other’s lives. It is sexy, sweet, romantic and a overall a great story. This is one of those stories that I am thankful to be able to witness the characters falling in love.
“…my head goes hazy and my body heats to supernova levels just from the way he kisses me. From how he grabs my face and yanks me close. From the way he wants to resist me but can’t whatsoever.”~ Fitz
So we’ve met Fitz in previous stories and I was so excited to hear he was getting his own story and let me say I was not disappointed! When Fitz walks into Dean’s bar there is an immediate spark, feelings come fast but what do they do when their lives are on different continents….fun book to read, great dialog, great characters and plenty of heat. Another great Lauren Blakely read
Okay Lauren definitely needs to write more MM books because A Guy Walks Into My Bar was fantastic! Fitz and Dean are everything. I adored their flirty banter so much and I just loved seeing them fall. These two are so much fun together and I was just sucked into their story and I just couldn’t put it down. I just adore how freaking cute they are together. Their story was super sexy, very entertaining and packed a bit of heart too. I became so invested in them so fast and I am so glad I got to experience that!
Simple… he walks into a bar… he’s hot….. he wants him…. and he is leaving….. sounds like an amazing time.
Until Fitz and Dean truly fall for each other. This book gives all the feels of great banter and fun and chemistry and the of 2 people who fall in love and how they make it work!
Lauren Blakely delivers an amazing book that I could not put down!
Every time Lauren releases a book, I become more and more enamored with the characters she has created in this amazing interconnecting world. A Guy Walks into my Bar is Lauren’s first M/M and it blew me away. A week before training camp is supposed to start, James Fitzgerald a/k/a “Fitz” travels to England to help his younger sister, Emma (who is going to be studying art there) get settled. Having made a deal with his teammates not to hook up with anyone during training camp, Fitz wasn’t opposed to a fling during his week in England. Hot, Sexy, English Bartender Dean Collins, owns a bar in London with his best friend Maeve. Dean and Maeve had a pact not to hook up with any customers. Fitz walks into Dean’s bar and that sets off a chain of events where the two find themselves unable to fight off their mutual attraction. The chemistry between these two had my heart beat accelerating and my entire face burning. It was off the hook scorching.
This is seriously one of those books that you try to describe, but there aren’t enough words to properly do it any justice. I want to share my favorite parts but the entire book was my favorite part. Every interaction between Dean and Fitz was either extremely sexy, hot, passionate, sweet, affectionate, caring, hilarious, and so much more. We were able to witness these two strangers evolve into lovers while at the same time becoming friends.
Apart from the amazing chemistry that Lauren brought us with this book, she also gave us this epic love story with no boundaries. Dean and Fitz relationship was a same-sex relationship that was out in the open. They were accepted by their family and friends. They were not afraid to hold hands, kiss and be affectionate in public. At the beginning of the book, Lauren did state she wanted us to experience Dean and Fitz story in a world without homophobia and I LOVE HER SO MUCH FOR THIS. My heart was filled with so much joy. Stories like this is why I love to read romance; stories like this is why I love romance authors; stories like this (although fiction) give me such hope that one day we will witness a world in which LOVE ALWAYS WINS!
Oh….also, Haven makes an appearance int his book! Haven and Josh are two of my favorite characters ever. ALSO, Leo and Lulu!! (Now I know that A Guy Walks Into my Bar took place before Birthday Suit).
Waiting for Lauren’s next book to release feels like waiting for the next episode of your favorite TV show to air.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review**
Dean likes to make things interesting at work. I liked to see that he has a supportive family. Fitz also has a great support system. He has me wishing I was a fly on the wall or at the very least on his shoulder so that I could follow him around. With Dean, I wanted to be his shadow so that I could find out what he was up to. And like always, this author gets me to laugh and that’s a hard thing to do.
She has made both these men comfortable in their own skin. I’ve been pleased to see how things have changed, for the most part, since the ‘70’s. For some people, they haven’t changed their way of thinking but thankfully I’m not one of them. It was a great pleasure to read this work of fiction.
I didn’t feel uncomfortable in any way – nothing felt awkward. All I see are two human beings with feelings and emotions. We get to see the connection that Ms. Blakely gives them and see a little slice of time from their perspective. It didn’t even take me a second to know that I have to get the audio version of this book.
I’ve listened to both the narrators before – sigh! This is a case of both reading and listening more than once. Although I may like to listen to the book just a smidge more since I just want to hear the men talk. I just have to remember to keep a fan handy.
This is one of those books that helps you forget your frustrations and your bad or stressful days. The only thing I have to remember is to have a drink by my side. I’m not a fan of hockey but I don’t think Fitz would mind. Especially if he ever came to realize that I’m a fan of theirs – and that’s the most important thing. It was comical to watch how these two men got to know each other. I certainly enjoyed getting to know them through their conversations. The author impressed me with her ending but I’m not saying any more than that because I want you to experience it for yourself – you’ll get your money’s worth.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
