So Lauren Blakely has written her first m/m and I was very impressed. Not going to lie, I was hesitant to read since I really enjoy this genre and since this was the author’s first time writing it, I wanted to give her a chance.
Dean is a co-owner of a bar with his best friend Maeve. His focus is his bar. He doesn’t have to time nor wants a relationship. Relationships can get messy especially when your focus is your business at hand. Sure he doesn’t mind the occasional hook up, but at his terms because the last one did not get the memo. Enter, James Fitzgerald, or Fitz as you will, hot, bearded and tatted but most of all cocky. He was immediately taken with the sarcastic, yet flirty bartender whom he wanted in his bed. I mean, he’s only in London for six days, what can happen, just some hot sweaty sex, right?
I think this may have been one the author’s longest books, but then again, I have not read her in a while, so I may be wrong. As I mentioned above, I am glad I took a chance in reading this book. The chemistry between Dean and Fitz was all consuming, yet there was an expiration date, sort of speak for these two. For two men that thought it was just a six day jaunt. But it was much more to say the least.
Kudos for Ms. Blakely on taking the chance in writing m/m. She put a lot of thought process and character development into Dean and Fitz. Also, Dean is English, so it was especially good to know she got his nuances and his English speak, if you will, really well.
I am looking forward to reading her next one in this series.
Holy cracker jacks! I love this book so much. All. The. Stars!! Lauren Blakely’s debut into M/M romance is RED HAWT!! I’m over the moon for Dean and Fitz. Both strong, charismatic, smart characters. Their chemistry is off the charts electric from their meet cute. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from them. Instant chemistry and connection is 100% my jam and they have it in SPADES! The whole book is littered with fireworks. Their witty banter, charming smooth talk, and unfiltered passion for each other makes them a favorite couple for sure. Lauren’s writing is on point, as usual, topping my list for rom com authors. This book left me feeling all tingling and warm with a huge smile on my face. Love is love, friends I feel it in every page of this book
5 smokin hot stars for Lauren Blakely’s first step into MM romance!
If you want to read or listen to the ultimate sexy romance story then A Guy Walks Into My Bar is definitely the book you don’t want to miss!
I was mesmerized with this wonderfully written story and I couldn’t get enough of these two amazing men! The connection and passion between Fitz and Dean oozed off the pages. They are sweet together, but they also both have that smoldering quality about them that just warms the heart because after all ‘love is love’!
I had the added enjoyment of listening to the audio version and OMG these two narrators and their swoon worthy voices will ignite all of your senses!
HELLA HOT!!!
These two are too delicious for words.
I had so much fun reading their banter, quips and all that sarcastic wit. And, admittedly, I did shed a few tears along the way too.
Their journey to love was so satisfying, beautiful
and HELLA HOT…lol
Fitz and Dean are devilishly wonderful in A Guy Walks Into My Bar. Fitz is an American hockey player that is visiting London while he helps his sister get settled into a program at one of the universities. Fitz is getting ready to begin the next hockey season and knows that once he gets back to the states it will be all hockey all the time. He is hoping that his time out at the Magpie will have him hooking up and getting in some “fun” before he leaves London. Enter, Dean, the sexy bartender, and the owner of the Magpie. Dean has worked hard to make the Magpie successful is by not allowing himself to date any of the patrons of the bar. Fitz and Dean have this instant chemistry that develops the first night at the Magpie. With a little assistance from Fitz’s sister and Dean’s partner, Maeve, set them up to casually run into one another. From there Fitz uses his power of persuasion to get Dean to go out on a date with him. They begin to develop a very sensual and sexy relationship, one that has an expiration date. Or does it?
This was such a fun read and shows the reader that all relationships are worth the time and fight!
Way to go Lauren Blakely. Thank you for writing this amazing book.
This M/M Romance is HOT! Love is Love, and Dean and Fitz’s love story, drama free, is beautifully written, sweet, and ultra hot sexy. They share an instant attraction and a sizzling ultra hot chemistry! The supporting characters are wonderful. I love the Epilogues! The Fireside Chat with Shane East and Joe Arden, and the Bloopers, are a great addition to this audiobook! Shane East and Joe Arden did a wonderful job with the narration. I love their voices together. They are hot! The cast of supporting narrators is amazing! M/M Romance is not my usual romance, but I believe this one is great. If you like M/M Romance, you will love it!
A Guy Walks Into My Bar by Lauren Blakely is a standalone MM romance novel that is so hot, flirty and dynamic that it will pull you right in. Dean Collins and his friend/business partner Maeve have rules. And to enforce those rules they have made a bet. No shagging the customers. When Dean tries to scope out a guy to make Maeve stumble and win the bet, he runs full on into the guy of his dreams. Hot, American, Hockey Player (with all his teeth) James “Fitz” Fitzgeral. What ensues is flirty, witty and hot. More than anything Lauren Blakely has done it again with complex, dynamic, amazing characters that pull you into the story and bringing the world to life.
I wholeheartedly recommend this addition to Ms. Blakely’s stockpile of awesome stories.
A different story from Lauren Blakely, but no less awesome. A hot and steamy story between Fitz and Dean with all the feels. Loved it!! Don’t miss checking out this one out!!
So happy that this book was released. I have been a fan of Lauren for a while so was nice to read/listen to the story of Fitz and Dean. It was a sweet journey of their friendship.
One of my favourite reads for 2020. Lauren Blakely smashes it with her first MM novel.
This story was full of chemistry, sweet romance and a touch of drama, happy and sad tears flowed. I thoroughly enjoyed the read from cover to cover, I couldn’t put it down.
The story of a Hockey player and a Bar Owner, neither are looking for love, neither have time in their life for more, and a 5 day long fling sounds perfect, until it’s not enough and it’s time to say goodbye.
Fitz is a NHL superstar and meets Dean when he steps into his bar. Dean is taking a break from dating and relationships. He didn’t count on a hot guy like Fitz. The two only planned for a steamy night but things are too good to pass up a chance at more. This was a good read with plenty of steam and dirty talk.
I always love a good Lauren Blakely read. They are usually fun, sometimes emotional and always steamy and this one was no exception. #1 Rule, don’t go home with the customers. Easy enough, plenty of the men in the sea right? But why did he have to walk into MY bar? Hot, beautiful, amazing man and only here for 5 days. Dean can handle that. He doesn’t want anyone to fall for him anyway. Fitz just needs to get sexy time out of the way so he can focus on the season ahead AND well, he lives in another country. Fitz can handle that, right? Both of these men will soon find out that sometimes fate and life has more in store for them. Are they willing to bite the bullet?
This book…. Oh My God I LOVE this book. Lauren Blakely’s first MM romance and she hit it out of the park! A Guy Walks Into My Bar is going immediately onto my favourites list!
One night while he’s in London helping his sister get settled there, James Fitzgerald, star NHL defenseman, walks into The Magpie, a bar co-owned by super sexy bartender Dean Collins. He immediately decides he wants Dean, but what he doesn’t bargain for is that Dean is more than just hot. He is the most amazing person Fitz has ever met. Dean doesn’t give in right away, but eventually Fitz’ earnest, open personality and amazingly sexy body become impossible to resist. Neither of them is keen on any kind of romantic attachment, but a fling sounds great. Given that Fitz heads back to the States in just a few days, their time together has a very defined expiration date. And that suits them both just fine. Naturally, neither one of them is able to stick to their original plan of keeping it just a fling, and they fall hopelessly in love. The ride is SO much fun to be on with them.
Fitz is one of the sweetest heroes I’ve come across. I want to be his sister, or his best friend or something. I just want more Fitz in my life. He’s just the best person. And Dean is sweet and funny, and sarcastic and all kinds of fun. I seriously want this couple to be my neighbours and have them over for dinner all the time!
This book was SUCH a joy. Of course it was going to have a happy ending, but I wasn’t sure how it would work out, given that each of them was so settled in their respective lives. It’s SUCH a satisfying ending, and the multiple epilogues give us a glimpse into their lives several years into the future which I loved. A Guy Walks Into My Bar is absolutely one of my favourite reads so far this year. I can’t wait for Lauren’s next MM romance!
I enjoyed Lauren Blakely’s “A Guy Walks Into My Bar,” a funny, charming story that featured endearing characters and a whole lot of PDA. The chemistry between main characters Fitz and Dean was explosive from the first time they met, and they didn’t hesitate to act on it whenever (and wherever) possible. Their emotional connection grew just as quickly as the physical one, however, and it was easy to see how much they enjoyed just spending time together. Their flirty, teasing banter was sometimes silly but always entertaining, and their conversations made me laugh out loud more than once.
As for the story itself, I have to say that it felt a little long to me and I found myself starting to skim in some places. I’m sure this was only a matter of personal preference, but after a certain point (and a certain amount of PDA), I was ready for the plot to jump ahead so I could find out how Fitz and Dean were going to make their relationship work. When they did finally get to that point, I was very satisfied with the way things worked out, and I enjoyed the extended epilogues that even included a bonus HEA for two of Fitz and Dean’s friends.
Overall, “A Guy Walks Into My Bar” was a sweet yet steamy story that was heavy on the PDA but light on angst, and I recommend it for all fans of romantic comedy. I look forward to Blakely’s next book!

I listened to the audio version of this book. It’s a full cast narration headed by Shane East and Joe Arden. Both excellent narrators and the entire cast brought the characters to life. This is much steamier that Lauren’s most recent books but unless you’re a prude, you’re going to love this. These guys are so hot, you’re going to think you’ve hit the menopause and the hot flushes have started. I was getting ready to order sage tablets on Amazon. That said, the story isn’t lost in all the bedroom action and the two men each have their issues to deal with and their own demons to fight. I loved this book and would highly recommend it either in the traditional form or even more so on audio. Just don’t listen to it anywhere your boss or kids could walk in on you listening to it.
A Guy Walks Into My Bar was a swoony, passionate and sexy love story. From the start there was fiery chemistry between Dean and Fitz that continued to grow until it combusted and boy did it ever. I loved the witty and flirty banter between Dean and Fitz as well as their entertaining interactions. One of the things I enjoyed the most about this book was how utterly relatable both characters were. They each had their moments of doubt as they dealt with ghosts of their pasts and what they each truly wanted.
Fitz’s cocky yet persistent personality as well as Dean’s sweet and fun one were brought to life in an extraordinary manner by Shane East and Joe Arden. I adored listening to their witty exchanges as this narrating duo completely blew me away. Both narrators had me laughing, smiling and tearing up until the very end as they pulled so many different emotions from me with this book. Without a doubt A Guy Walks Into My Bar was one of my favorite books this year and this narration was heartwarming perfection.
WOW you guys! Lauren B wrote her first MM book and it’s awesome. I am kind of a sucker for MM romance. Dean and Fitz are both adorable. Fitz is a hockey star confident, cocky, sexy as sin. Dean is sweet, kind, charming. I like that he is close with his family and friends. When Dean met Fitz, you guessed it … at his bar … these two hit it off right away. The chemistry is palpable. Fun and flirty banters. They agreed on the “fun and now” hot fling knowing Fitz will go back to the States to play hockey and Dean has to stay in London where his business and family are. What supposed to be two weeks no strings-attached turned into so much more. I really like that both of them have a sensitive side. They are not afraid to show their feelings. Their relationship is sinfully sexy, majorly HOT but also very honest, heartwarming, and romantic. Love the plot, the secondary cast of characters, and of course the HEA Mauve seems like a ballbuster – can’t wait for her story. Over all, this was a fun, flirty, sizzling read!
This is Lauren’s first MM book and she completely NAILED it!!
I couldn’t get enough of Fitz and Dean! They were hot and I so loved their banter and flirting, made me all hot and bothered and left me swooning hard!
What more could a girl want then a cocky athlete and a sexy bartender?? The chemistry between them was so hot I’m sure steam was coming off my kindle. I couldn’t put this beauty down from when I stated it to when I finished it and I honestly didn’t want it to finish!
Well done Lauren on your first MM
The story is told with a full cast and the main characters in a duet style. Joe Arden was perfect as Fitz, the young hockey player who was at the top at his game. In London, Dean owned a bar with his college friend Maeve. They had a running bet against dating customers, so when Fitz walks into the bar Dean tries to avoid Fitz until they decide to have a fling, which would end when Fitz returned to the U.S.
Listening to Joe and Shane was amazing; the emotions, the timing, the accents (British!) and the chemistry. Fitz was the more outgoing one, liked to cuddle, was like a puppy, but also very vulnerable. Dean was more solid, liked to think things through while Fitz was more spontaneous. The flirting was hilarious, the shared love of the Harry Potter books was a nice touch, and sex scenes were smoking hot. There was a great cast of friends and family, it filled out the story.
Overall, it was just a lot of fun to listen to, and the bonus was an interview with Joe Arden and Shane East at the end of the book.
I was very lucky to get an ALC of Guy Walks Into My Bar. Sometimes you are lucky and you connect with a character in a meaningful way, or maybe a few characters. This book connected with me on so many levels I still feel a bit of shell shock. From the moment the forward mentioned a world without homophobia I was emotionally invested and deeply moved. From there I quickly progressed to entertained on so many levels – and deeply grateful for everyone who worked on this project!
The fact that I finished this book and immediately listened again should tell you what I thought about it. In typical Lauren Blakely fashion, this book has top-notch banter with the perfect amount of snark, innuendo, teasing, and naughty mixed in to deliver next-level-sexy flirting and seduction followed by some of the hottest scenes I’ve ever listened to! What starts out as two hot guys with serious chemistry who are both commitment-phobic coming together “just for fun” turns into one of the best love stories with all the feels! I love their supportive friends & Family! I laughed, giggled, and swooned from beginning to end! Quite simply, I was immediately hooked and hopelessly in love with Dean & Fitz falling in love! This book is full of hilarious situations, great arguments, and seriously hot situations & dialogue. Not to mention all of the hilarious parts… I will never look at penguins the same again!! #PenguinTime
Duet done right is my jam! I am very Narrator Motivated and this book truly delivered some of the best multicast duet narration by the entire cast! Shane & Joe deliver flawless dialogue with epic levels of dirty talk that had me hopelessly lost in the story. I love the way they play off each other in a way you only see with duet-style narration! I also really enjoyed all of the supporting cast members adding that extra kick and beautiful narration to the story!
Don’t miss the extras at the end with great bloopers and chat with Shane & Joe! Even if you don’t know the #Eaden & #BigDecks history of their bromance on Twitter, their playful banter is the perfect way to finish this excellent listen!
I have now listened 4 times and I know this will not be the last time. #LoveIsLove #PenguinTime
