I love this story and the main character’s adventures. I was cheering her on in every page!
It held my interest very well as it pertained to my age group and also developed the characters quite well. My only complaint is that if she would have been told about her new love’s heart condition she may have been able to help him live longer, especially since as a wine/maker he drank too much, as did she for her age. Giving up wine is difficult but compulsory if you have a heart condition such as his and you want to live longer. I know this from personal experience.
Funny, sad, life affirming, satisfying ending.
I did not like the ending though
Entertaining book about a 75 year old who decides she is not ready for a nursing home. After running away you experience all the adventure and travel that Evie goes through in Europe
Very enjoyable reading. Liked the character. Surprised at ending.
A fun read.
I was expecting a funny, light-hearted book. This was not it! It was not “laugh out loud” funny. I probably snickered once at one line. Otherwise, it was a dreary book with all too much time devoted to the marital problems of the son/his wife.
Inspiring read about a 75 year old woman who takes her life by the horns and isn’t willing to spend her last years in a retirement home!! I loved this story – a bit of sadness, but uplifting all the same.
Evie’s spunk in running away from the “0ld peoples home” to live life on her terms is inspiring
Great story !
Gives hopefulness to aging.
A 75 year old women escapes from a senior care center in Dublin, ,wins money on a horse, travels to England and France, buys a camper and travels the country on her own. Meets many people with her endearing personality.
The premise had promise which is why I chose it. Easy reading with some humor but just couldn’t get into it. Plowed through to the end. However, the characters did not compel me to latch onto them and I did not really enjoy the book for other reasons that remain obscure to me. Different readers may like it a lot more than I did so I won’t give it a dismal assessment. The author did a creditable job. This simply wasn’t my cup of tea.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were wonderful. It made me laugh,it made me cry.It as just a fun readi
One of the best stories I have read in a long time. Evie is a delightful character that makes the story!
Wonderful look at not being stuck in a place or how we have outlined our own lives. Truly inspirational and a damn good read. My husband kept asking me what I was cackling about. I will read anything by this author it was that good!
I enjoyed this book. It was thought provoking to me because I’m 72 and I could relate to Evie’s situation. The ending was disappointing.
Wonderful book. Great characters. Good story. Makes you smile and makes you cry. Realistic ending. I really liked this book, and recommended it to my cousin, who also likes good stories.
Even though this book has some slow, just jump ahead spots, the story was worth reading. It did have some depressingly realistic, uncomfortable scenes, I can’t help but recommend it because as a whole it was an enjoyable read.
