Magic can solve all your problems. At least, that’s what Ruby would have said a year ago, before she learned she was a witch. Now, all magic does is create more problems. There’s a giant tear in the fabric between the non-magical world Ruby lives in and the magical one her boyfriend is from. Every time Ruby uses her powers, the tear grows larger. The only way to stop the magical world from … the magical world from swallowing up Ruby’s home is to journey into the unknown forests of the other realm that contain frightening creatures such as acid frogs, poison moths, and banshees that terrify you at night.
And that’s just one of Ruby’s problems.
Her other issues are bigger and threaten every piece of Ruby’s life, from the skeletons hidden deeply in her boyfriend’s closet to the truth about her absent, half witch father that abandoned her before she was even born.
But no worries, she has a dragon to help…
And everyone knows, a good dragon is hard to find.

A Good Dragon is Hard to Find
Quarter Witch Chronicles Book 3
Joynell Schultz
Wonderful story, and an amazing ending to the trilogy!! Ruby is the best heroine. I love her attitude, and sass. The story is full of adventure, and has a great storyline. I could not put it down. Great read!!!
Loved this witty, fun, exciting and action packed emotional adventure filled with danger, magic, mystery and so many thrilling twists and turns…. the entire series was an excellent read from beginning to end and I really enjoyed getting to know each intriguing charter in this magical world.
A Good Dragon is Hard to Find #3 – The perfect ending to their journey and this trilogy. Well written and always interesting, this mesmerizing story makes it difficult to put the book down. Fast paced from the beginning, the action and events they face are intriguing and there are several surprises to boot. There’s always humor and good imagination in Ms. Schultz’s stories, along with good characters, dialog and adventure. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
The Quarter Witch Chronicles:
Dragons are a Girl’s Best Friend #1 – One of my favorite authors regardless of what she writes. I appreciated the humorous overview since I never know what most stories are about and I don’t have the time to look them up. The last dragon I cared about was Puff and I left him behind with my childhood, but this dragon is so sweet and intriguing, well.
The humor throughout this story made even the sad parts better. Yes, the first chapter is full of sadness and then the beginning of the second kicks her teeth down her throat. But then we met Liam and things improve drastically. Of course, there’s Luke the Dragon to help make the storylines interesting and intriguing. Although I don’t care for this age group, I liked the characters and their most of their dialog. Ruby’s constant state of panic and her bad thoughts were a little too much at times, but she’s eighteen and learning.
The author’s vivid imagination and descriptions always keep me entertained and there in the story and this story is no different. I’m glad the next two books come out in June; so far, this has been an interesting and fun read. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 4*
While the Dragon’s Away #2 –This story picks up about six months after Ruby discovers she’s a witch. She has a lot on her plate and now she needs sideboards to contain everything. There’s a powerful hunter from Ty’s realm and it’s about to hit the fan.
The storylines are engaging and intriguing. I like the new character, although she’s very dangerous for Ruby and company, you’ve got to admire her. Add to this mix, finals. Yep, what a couple of wonky weeks can do to a girl. There are secrets that come out in the wash, too, which I’ll keep to myself, they’re secrets! Good imagination and descriptions keep the reader immersed and then too quickly, the last page is read. Squawk!
There’s an overview, which I appreciate knowing about a book before I read it. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 5*

The Quarter Witch Chronicles end.
So I wasn’t prepared for this diversness of characters. They work well together and enhance this book between two worlds
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ruby and Ty venture into Ty’s dimension to find a witch that can tell Ruby how to close the tears between their worlds. Ruby is also having dreams about her father. And there is a mermaid in the lake in Ruby’s dimension that doesn’t want to go back…and she wants legs whenever she wants to have them and not just at the full moon. Crazy stuff already, right? Just wait until they get to Ty’s world and find out who’s ruling the kingdom now! Yikes!
This is the 3rd and last book in the trilogy and I’m sad! This series has been fantastic and now I have to say goodbye until the start of the next series that features an important person and dragon that Ruby and Ty meet in his world. While the story won’t be about Ruby and Ty, we have been promised that we will hear how they are doing. That makes me happy! I can hardly wait!!
If you choose to read something, choose this series. You won’t be disappointed one bit!

With this final book in the trilogy, Quarter Witch Chronicles, every loose end is tied up and no stone has been left unturned. The wild ride for the two main characters has been non-stop and filled with one twist and turn after another. A very wonderful ride from a very gifted author!
This is the third in this series, Quarter Witch Chronicles. You could read it as a stand alone, but it would be better to read the first two so you can understand a bit more about the world that Joynell Schultz has created with both the humans and the magical realm. It was enjoyable to read this story because it continues from the first and second stories. You are alone for the adventures that Ty, Ruby and Luke are on. It’s like visiting with old friends and watching as they come into their own growth.
Ruby is having a hard time trying to deal with wanting to be a normal college girl with being a witch and the responsibilities that she and Ty have with maintaining and trying to close the rift between their worlds. She knows how she feels about Ty and would like to tell him those all important three words, but had a hard time spitting them out. She knows that Ty is a prince in the other realm and should they become intimate, that would seal them together. She would become his Queen when he assents. She has a hard time trying to figure out what she wants to major in in college, she definitely doesn’t know if she is ready to become a Queen. She has had dreams that her father has come back to her. It is all too much for a college freshman to handle.
Ty is enjoying his time in the human realm with Ruby. They only have one more magical creature to send back, a mermaid. He doesn’t know that the mermaid told Ruby that she wants to be able to walk on two legs more than only on the full moon. When they check on the tear, they see that it has grown and the only way it grows is if Ruby uses magic. Only to find out that she has been using a bit of magic for mundane things of no importance. Then they find out that his parents have passed away. What to do, what to do.

I am so very sad that this is the last book in this series but look forward to seeing what the future holds for Joynell. This series was truly a delight to read, the drama, mystery and romance kept the book interestimg from beginning to end. I wanted the story to never end as well as the series. This is a must read and is great for all ages!
Ty, Ruby, and her dragon Luke, continued searching the lake for signs of a mermaid escaped from Ty’s world. They hadn’t had any luck so far, but Ty said the signs were there to indicate a mermaid’s presence. Ty dove out of the rowboat to investigate a likely spot for the mermaid to hide. But as Ruby waited, something rocked the boat and a pink-haired mermaid popped up to ask for her witch help. Ruby told her they would help her return to her realm, but she refused to leave. Instead, she wanted to be able to have legs whenever she wanted, not just one day per month. But hearing Ty call out to Ruby, the mermaid grew concerned and swam away. Ruby was not willing to take the mermaid forcefully, so Ty had to find a way to bargain with her to return to her world.
Still struggling about when to tell Ty she loved him, Ruby panics when he asks if she is ready to become his Queen – even though he doesn’t intend to return home to ever rule his kingdom. But if they made love even once, they would be forever bound to each other and that was too big a commitment for her right now. They decided to check on the tear between Earth and his realm, which Ruby had been stitching regularly to keep the creatures out. But today there was a larger tear to fix! And when they went to negotiate with the mermaid about returning to her world, Ruby was told that the King and Queen of Mortia had died 2 months ago. Would Ty have to go home to assume kingship? And what was the dream Ruby had about her father showing up during Chemistry final to talk to her?
This is such a great series that I hate to see it come to an end. It was good to find out more about Ruby’s father and Ty’s realm. It was nice to see Ty and Ruby getting closer and their relationship maturing. The increasing size of the tears between the realms are becoming a serious problem and Ty and Ruby have to find a way to permanently seal them. Grab your copy and enter their world to see what the future holds.
Once again Ms. Johnson has stepped up the the plate & finished off this series with bangs & fireworks. There are lots of surprises too. I loved this series because I love stories with dragons. I think you would like this series too. I received an ARC. This is my happy, honest, voluntary review.
This installment wraps up the story of Ruby and Ty. As I had hoped at the end of the last installment, we learn much more about the magical realm that Ty comes from. It is a much harsher, darker world than I had imagined. Ty and Ruby had to make hard decisions as they ventured to the magical realm in order to try to figure out how to close the tears that caused unnatural passages between the realms. Their relationship grew by leaps and bounds, and it was a delight to watch unfold even if there were difficulties. Ruby also learns more about first father. I am actually sad that this is the last book of this series, as I did enjoy Ruby and Ty’s adventures. At the end of the book, though, the author says that we will continue to learn about Ruby and Ty as she starts another series that revolve around some of the other characters from this series.
As always with Ms. Schultz’s stories, she is able to combine some humor with personal growth and conflict in a way that engages and keeps you turning the pages. She has envisioned a difficult magical realm that has far more depth than one would expect in a series like this. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the rest of the series.
More than a cozy or a sweet romance, this story is about finding your best true self, and making your own family with those you love reciprocally- biology aside.
Ruby discovers it is not her magic alone causing a rift between worlds. Darker forces who are kin are at work. She may find family with Sophie and Ty, but there seems to be at least one positive genetic find in the world Ty comes from, and more Ruby could do without.
It is also time for Ruby and Sophie to move on to the next adult phases in their relationships with Ollie and Ty – and this likely will find the ladies moving worlds apart.
Love and loyalty means more to some of those Ruby already holds dear – and means less than power to others.
Lots of learning curves- and self and love doubts – some justified.
A good dragon may be hard to find, but true hearts may be even harder to find and hold onto.
Powerful KU series.
I received an advance copy of this book from Booksprout. I read it on Kindle Unlimited. I either bought or borrowed the books in this and other series from this author on Kindle or KU.
A new favorite trilogy!
I absolutely loved this book! It is the third, and last, installment in Ruby’s story – The Quarter Witch Chronicles – and I could not have imagined a better conclusion for the series! It had love, friendship, family, magic, adventure, twists and turns, revelations, heartwarming characters, and great world building.
Despite the magical elements, the characters all have realistic personalities, complexity and challenges. This is one of the biggest reasons why I always love Ms. Schultz’s stories; the relatable nature, and the sweet, heartwarming characteristics of the players simply pulls me in and keeps me hooked straight to the end. In this book, we saw some major growth and learning by both Ruby and Ty and I love, love, love where they ended up at the conclusion! And Luke… I don’t think I could love him more! What an amazing character Ms. Schultz created with him! I loved the revelation about his relationship with Ruby and his role in her life!
The revelations about Ruby’s family were… wow! Unexpected, on my part at least; and not only did they wrap up Ruby’s story so nicely, but they have us perfectly set up for the next trilogy that will be set in this world. Which I can hardly wait to read, by the way! I feel so totally invested in these characters, I just want to binge read book after book after book about them and their world!
There are lots of fairy tales with commoners who are revealed to be unconventional heroes – the Brave Tailor or Rose Red for example. In each of those stories, those unconventional heroes somehow end up on world-changing quests – saving kingdoms, killing giants and the like. Ruby and Tyler, like those unconventional heroes, end up on a quest that requires them to face their most difficult fears and enemies and are revealed to be unconventional heroes themselves in a fairy tale style happily-ever-after that changes worlds. Not bad for a student planning on dropping out of college and a prince who refuses to claim his obligations.

This is the third in a series by Joynell Schultz and it’s been a delightful series to read! In this installment Ruby, Ty and Luke go to he magical world to see if there is a spell that can seal the riffs between the worlds to prevent magical creatures from escaping. Ruby meets a couple of people one in particular who answers some questions she’s had for a long time. Add the adventures in this new world and you have a
book you will certainly enjoy.
I would urge you to start at the beginning of the series so you will see how things unfold and progress. It’s a great way to let your worries and troubles take a backseat for awhile as you immerse yourself in this fantasy. Imagine having a dragon as a familiar! Young and old alike will enjoy the escapades of Ruby, Luke and Ty. Start it today-you won’t be sorry!
This is the last book in the Quarter Witch Chronicles and I am so sad to see it end. Ruby is struggling with her college workload along with trying to capture and return magical creatures to the realm where they belong. She has the help of her boyfriend Ty and her friend Luke, who just happens to be a dragon. I highly recommend this series.
