From USA Today bestselling author KL Donn comes the all new Uncontrolled Heroes series where the heroes took over and decided they all get a little lovin’.Cade Larrabee is…done. Done with love. Done with women. Done with basically any and everything that isn’t his kids or his bike shop. After their mom decided she was done with family life, Cade knew where his focus should be.In need of … where his focus should be.
In need of childcare, and someone to help around the house, Cade goes in search of a nanny. One who is as plain as Jane but can be compassionate enough to handle Mac–a boy who keeps acting out–and Lily–his sweet girl who needs a woman’s touch.
Petal Davies proves to be the perfect nanny. The perfect friend. The perfect…everything. Not only does she put up with his cranky attitude, but she gives it right back to him.
Petal shows Cade day after day, time and again that not only is she the perfect woman for him, she’d be the perfect mom to his kids, and she’s mostly certainly A Girl Worth Fighting For.
Falling in love isn’t always planned and when you least expect it, your heart decides for you. Come on over to Long Beach, California to find out who falls in love, who gets naughty on the beach and if family truly is everything.

A Girl Worth Fighting For might have been a quick read but this story doesn’t leave you questioning whether it required more. The words for this story were enough, it might have been fast paced but who doesn’t love a little insta love. Cade was the broody single Dad and Petal was the nanny who might have had a name of flower but in no way was this woman delicate like one. She had backbone and strength and just enough sass to make you laugh. The chemistry between these two is enough to ignite a fire without a match being required. The connection and love that Petal feels for his children is felt right through to your heart. A wonderful quick read that ticks all the boxes for passion, love and so much heart.
Don’t wait to pick this one up! KL Donn is quickly becoming one of my one-click authors!
This book has all the feels – which is per usual with any KL book you read. Cade and his kids are literally to die for with their dynamic relationship and fun loving moments. Petal is complex and looking for something even though she isn’t sure what it is….until she finds Cade. This is a short and sweet, jammed pack with love and angst book that will hook you from the beginning and make you wish there was another couple hundred pages for these two. 100% one click.
Also – there’s a dog. A big, lovable, amazing dog. So go read this book!
Cade And Petal
Petal was not expecting to fall for all 3 people she’s taking care of as a nanny. She was just looking for a job, in come Cade and his two wonderful children, he’s not ready for Petal either. He swore off relationships and marriage for life, Petal took him for a surprise he didn’t see coming. Will they make it? With Cade’s brother and best friend playing matchmaker there’s no way they wouldn’t make it. Great read author K.L Donn, I love this couple
This is one of my favourite tropes, and I really liked this book.
Petal is a badass. She’s so damn smart and sassy, but her way with children was what made my heart melt.
Cade is closed off, he’s got that asshole, standoffish attitude, but the love he has for Mac and Lily was just precious. And the kids? They are so damn cute, I loved them.
This was my first read from this author and I’m quite addicted to this series already. I was hooked from beginning to end and devoured this quickly.
I loved the characters from the beginning and became completely invested in Cade and Petal. They were perfect together and the chemistry was off the charts HOT!
Add in 2 gorgeous children and a dog that will completely steal your heart and this book is everything.
I have now brought the next book in the series as I want to know what happens with Jace’s story.
This book had a good storyline…single dad needs a nanny for his kids. I liked it, but struggled a bit with the relationship between Petal & Cade. There wasn’t enough good interaction or build up to create a loving relationship. The kids characters were great, and the relationship with Petal and them was strong which made sense considering all their backgrounds.
.5
The phrase “It takes a village to raise a child,” comes to mind immediately after reading A Girl Worth Fighting For. I enjoyed this story about a single dad and his adorable children. Cade Larrabee’s village includes his life-long best friend, his brother, and Petal, his new nanny.
This romance is a slow, slow burn until it spontaneously combusts in the closing chapters. There is mention of attraction between Cade and Petal. There is lively and angsty dialog between Cade and Petal. There are even aggressive verbal exchanges between Cade and Petal. However physical contact is almost non-existent until a threshold is reached. When the dam breaks, there is no containing the violent rush of the torrent released.
The best part of the book is the relationship Petal builds with Cade’s children. There is instant absolute love and devotion on both sides of the relationship. His devotion to his children makes him irresistible. The way his falls for Petal as she falls for his children is quite wonderful.
The book is quick and easy to read. It is fun and has a good plot. I enjoyed the time spent reading A Girl Worth Fighting For. I simply wanted more from this story.
The nanny gets a family
I am leaving my review voluntarily. This is book 1 in a series.
Triggers: none other than talk of child abandonment
Spoilers:
Cade, single dad. Fed up with women. Needs help with his kids.
Petal, abandoned by her mom as a kid. Loves children and working as a nanny.
Insta lust when these two meet. A sweet, “safe” story. Brief moments of sexy time. HEA
Great characters, but the storyline is jumpy and has huge time lapses. It’s really well written that you still get a great story. But I like the stories that follow the build up of the relationship. The HEA happened too easily in my book.
I hate that I didn’t like this book, but I can’t pretend otherwise. There’s instalove and then there’s this. Cade interviews Petal, the next day they go to the beach, and after that they’re pining for each other. It seems like I’m leaving something out but I’m not. That relationship had the worst pacing. There’s limited interaction with them on the page or even described in flashback, but after maybe a month they’re in love. Befoe Cade even asks Petal out he’s telling his kids he’s going to marry her.
Lily, Cade’s daughter, was described by Petal as well adjusted when she first met her, but obviously she’s not if she’s wanting Petal to be her mother after what had to have been two days. Like, it’s a wonder she didn’t ask her ballet teacher or one of the other moms to be her mom.
Resolution in this book is non-existent. Cade called the police and filled charges against an ex. We don’t find out what happens. We don’t find out why Cade’s ex never stuck around or why Petal’s mom took off when she was a child. Cade’s friend walked in on him and Petal and they all gloss over that. I just needed more explanation. This is a lot of open ended conflict.
When fate steps in.
After Cade Larrabee’s ex walks out on him and their two children, Cade decides to focus on two things: his kids, and his bike shop.
Realizing that he needed help, he goes in search of a nanny.
Petal Davies was abandoned by her Mom when she was just twelve years old, and although she never lacked for the love of her Dad, she carried the pain of her mother’s abandonment to her adulthood.
Cade meets Petal, who proves to be not just the perfect nanny to his kids, she also
becomes the perfect friend. Not only does she put up with his cranky attitude, but she gives it right back to him.
This is the story of two souls brought together by fate, and their love for children.
This story is poignant, for whoever would want to be abandoned by one the very people who brought them to life? I can understand losing a parent through illness–after a time we learn to accept that our parents are not immortal, and that they are only here to guide us through life up to a point. To be abandoned and not knowing why, is different. It can play havoc to a child’s confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. That is why children, especially those born in this age of social media, should always have a strong support system that can teach them to become positive members of society.
I love the fact that A Girl Worth Fighting For is surprisingly light compared to other books penned by KL Donn. It shows to me that she is one I can come back to time and again and not be disappointed or bored every time.
I fell in love with Cade and Petal, and I hope that you fall in love with them too. And yes, I am definitely looking forward to fall in love with Calla and Jace’s story!
Great story. Great strong heroine. Loves it when k.l donn switches it up! Shows each one of her stories is different which makes them each even more intriguing. Petal is strong and confident without being obnoxious. Her interactions with the children are sweet and not forced and although her walk in life has been less than easy, she is knows who she is and does let anyone make her cower. Great read. I do wish it was longer but then again, I never want her stories to end
K.L. Donn is the author you turn to when you want a feel good read. You can’t go wrong with her books full of sexy insta-love and this one is no different! Case is smokin hot, alpha male that makes you swoon. Petal is my soul sister. She is strong, resilient and everything Cade never knew he needed. I absolutely loved this book, the perfect pick me up!
This was a quick and sweet story. I read it fairly quickly and I enjoyed the read. It is an insta-lust story with lots of beautiful moments. Cade is a brooding male while Petal is a sweet nanny who clicks with Cade’s kids right away. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series for sure.
I love a single dad romance especially when the female is a strong independent woman. Cade is all about his kids and his bike shop but he needs a nanny especially one with a motherly touch for his kids. Petal is the perfect woman for the job. She’s feisty, caring, smart, strong and adores kids. The chemistry between Cade and Petal is off the charts hot but Cade is gun shy and may destroy something perfect for him and his kids. Will Petal be able to knock down Cade’s walls? This book was sweet and fun to read. There’s nothing sexier than a dad who puts his kids first and Cade definitely fits the bill. I can’t wait to read about the other characters.
I know that may sound cheesy but this book had me thinking of the Mulan quote “ The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” Petal embodies this saying. She has been through so much at such a young age and yet has found her purpose in helping others with their children. Her job as a nanny is what introduces her to Cade and his family. But there is something about this family that feels different from the very beginning. And she is not the only one that feels it, but it takes Cade a longer to admit. But with the thought of losing Petal forever Cade mans up and owns up to his feelings and claims Petal like he should have from the beginning. This story gave me the feels in a major way, I cried tears of sadness, anger, and joy for what Petal and Lily had gone through. This story was amazing, as alway KL never disappoints. Definitely One Click this book, it is a must have add to your collection.
I love it.. Petal and Cade story has everything in it, hot alpha, a strong sassy women, loveable kids, funny friends/brother. The chemistry between Petal and Cade was off the charts. I highly recommend this book.
A Girl Worth Fighting For by K.L. Donn beautiful story!!! It features a beautiful and sassy heroine, a tattooed handsome single dad and two awesome kiddos. This is an amazing insta-love romance that will hit you in the feels. Petal and Cade had this chemistry and connection from the start which made this one of the most electrifying and steamy stories I have read. Ms. Donn writes characters that speak to readers and immediately afterwards are diving right back in to re-read. That’s how fantastic this book is. Its full of feels, romance, drama, angst, twists, turns, heat and forbidden romance (boss/employee). Petal makes one amazing nanny and her past speaks for helping Cade’s children. I can’t wait for book 2 in this series.
My Rating: 4.8 stars ********
I absolutely loved A Girl Worth Fighting For. It is one of a possessive male and a headstrong female! I loved the twists and turns and I loved how easy this story read. Petal had me cheering her on throughout the book, and her love for these kids closely matches my own of someone who doesn’t have kids yet wants them.
This story has its ups and down, the characters jump out of the pages at you and make you take the journey too. That’s what I love most was how much this story drew me in and how quickly it did so.
KL Donn knocked this light hearted story out of the park! Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
