A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4)
By Jean Wilde
5 out of 5 stars
The story A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde is a historical romance book. I loved reading this story as it pulled me in, and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had read the last page. The story has romance and two main characters that loved reading about, Lady Victoria Gilbert and Blake Hall. Victoria is a woman who doesn’t shy away from saying what she thinks. She has a strong personality and in the times that she lives in that is not always the proper way of things, especially when she is in the market for a husband. She soon finds herself at odds with Blake. Blake is a man who has been spurned in love and not ready to take the plunge again. That begins to change when he meets Victoria and the feelings that he has when around her. They then find themselves in a situation where they both become an unlikely pair and find a way to walk the thin line between love and hate. They can’t deny the attraction they have for one another. What does the future hold for Victoria and Blake? Read this book to find out. I enjoy reading historical romance novels and this book is a good example of the reason why. I enjoyed reading about the push and pull between Blake and Victoria. There are secondary characters that I enjoyed reading about and how they interact with Blake and Victoria. This is a book that will grab your interest the whole way through. I would highly recommend reading it.
I enjoyed this read. I liked Victoria a lot and her way of not really caring what people think about her. I liked how she says what is on her mind even when she probably shouldn’t. Blake is intriguing to me in that in reality he and Victoria are so much alike in personality that it makes them oil and water. I’m always a fan of a match where two that don’t want to be together are thrust together and have to find their way through. This very much delivered on that score. It was a real page-turner and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. The characters had a great banter that was really fun to read. Definitely recommend!
I love Regency London books!! This book did not disappoint! I just found this series and will be looking for more! You could read this as a standalone book, but if you are like me, you will probably want to find the other books, too! The author writes witty dialogue and intriguing word play between the characters. I couldn’t help but read this in one sitting!
Fun, witty, definitely an adult book.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde was a really good read! This book is part of a series, but if there were any past events that contributed to the storyline I didn’t notice or couldn’t tell so I would say this book can be read as a stand-alone novel. I loved the storyline of this novel, and the characters and events that transpired. I was instantly taken with this novel, regardless of not reading the previous installments. My only complaint were character names. I wish there was more clarification on the characters or an index of some sort. I stayed lost with the names for half of the book. Other than that I really enjoyed reading this novel and can’t wait to read more.
Jean Wilde delivers another historical, steamy romance with her “A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4).” Having read Wilde’s previous work, I had an expectation of sensuous scenes mixed with humour. Wilde didn’t disappoint with characters like Lady Victoria Gilbert who are occupied with finding a husband and Mr. Blake Hall. Lady Victoria is considered to be not marrying material and Mr. Hall doesn’t seem to be in the market for a wife. So, how does Wilde bring these two characters together? Well, with opposites attracting, it seems Mr. Hall’s lack of prestige and Lady Victoria’s sharp tongue pull the two towards each other. It’s this magnetism that makes for the writing Wilde is famous for and that has her fans returning for more! If this is your first time reading her, be sure to follow her for more delightful reads.
A gentleman’s stipulation is a great historical romance. I like how Lady Victoria says what’s on her mind and the real vulnerability in the characters. The differences in their class and their dislike for each other makes them fight their attraction. An unfortunate event forces them together leading to an edge of your seat story. It was so good I had to go back and read the first books of the series.
A steamy regency romance that was scorching to read. Blake and Victoria were irresistible. A marriage of convenience that turns quickly into so much more – passion and desire not to be denied.
The storyline was well written and the characters were so well defined which kept me totally enthralled throughout the entire book!
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde
Lady Victoria Gilbert, a noblewoman, is looking for a husband. Lady Victoria is a strong, confident woman looking to marry for love, not a contract marriage of title and money. The last person she wants in her life is the opinionated Blake Hall, a son of a mill tycoon. They despise each other until they agree to be civil because they both sincerely care for Patience Hall, Blake’s younger sister. After a while the two find themselves in a compromising situation when Blake suddenly hatches a plan to help keep Lady Victoria’s reputation intact. What happens next is something neither one expects…
This story grabs hold of you and you’ll want to keep reading it. I will definitely be reading more books by this author in the future.
5 Star
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde is a historical romance that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down till the end. Historical Romance is one of my favorite genres and this Author has done an amazing job. I felt like I was right there with them. Although this can be read as a standalone I do recommend reading this series. Lady Victoria and Blake ,she needs a husband and he has no need for a wife. What will happen when these two are put in a situation where date could change everything? These two have a love hate relationship that seems to work well for them and I loved bantering back and forth between them. Find out what happens next in this must read.i can’t wait to read more from this Author.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde. I’ve just recently gotten more into historical fiction and this one has definitely pulled me in even more. This author wrote characters that drew me into their world. The back and forth between the characters was great and had me hooked. Each character brings something unique to the storyline and they are relatable making easy to be lost in the pages. It’s a well thought out and well written story that has a nice pace. I’m excited to see where this author takes readers next. I’m giving this story a four star review and highly recommend it.
This is a historical romance book. I have found that historical romance stories are intriguing. Jean Wilde grabbed me at the beginning with her characters. They are fully developed and I could see the characters in my mind’s eye. The plot line kept me wanting to know what else was going to happen. Being that this is historical romance, it takes a minute to think back how things may have been. Lady Gibert is looking for a husband. Blake Halle, who comes from wealth, is being told he needs a wife. Will Blake Hall and Lady Gilbert start a relationship or will it fall to pieces before it begins? I recommend reading this book to find out the answers to this question.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation is the fourth book in Jean Wilde’s The Scarlet Salon series. It is my first encounter with the writer and her writing I was lucky that the story can be read as a standalone as it is number four in the series! I tend to keep to my ‘usual suspects’ when it comes to historical romance and it is not very often that I pick up a new writer and I am happy I picked up A Gentleman’s Stipulation. It was an intriguing and engaging romance that pulled me in from the beginning.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation gives us Lady Victoria Gilbert and her family secrets and Blake Hall, the son of a nouveau rich mill tycoon. On surface they have nothing together so you can start picturing already now what a ride the writer is taking us on with those two! She gives us some pretty scandalous scenes that were quite refreshing to read in an historical romance… add to this authentic historical details and you have something every historical romance lover can cherish!
After finishing book four, I went back and read the blurbs to the first three and I think that I need to deepen my acquaintance with Ms Wilde and The Scarlet Salon further!
A Gentleman’s Stipulation by Jean Wilde is the fourth book in The Scarlet Salon series. I am a sucker for a good romance book, and I was surprised to find one in this historical romance book. I was pleasantly surprised at how great this book was, it was so good I read it in an afternoon. Lady Victoria Gilbert and Blake Hall meet at Victoria’s cousin’s wedding. Though there are initial sparks between them, they quickly get on each other’s bad sides. Convinced they will never see each other again, they just try to get through the wedding festivities. Victoria goes to London to try to find a husband and ends up staying at Blake’s estate. Though Victoria may be looking for a husband, Blake isn’t interested in finding a wife. During a card party, they are found in a rather compromising position. They must work through it together and learn to get along. I loved watching their complicated relationship waiver from lovers to enemies.
This is the first book I have read from this author and now she has a new fan. I have never read a historical romance until now. This author introduced me into my new favorite genre. This is the fourth book of the Scarlet Salon series. This can be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story. I was excited to read this book. I stopped everything and started it right away. I could not stop until the end. I can’t wait to read more of this amazing series.
Lady Victoria Gilbert is trying to find a husband. She wants a family and home to call her own. Victoria knows what she wants but when Blake Hall puts the moves on her she denies him. She knows that he is not the one. Victoria figures out that Blake is the son of a mill tycoon. They don’t like each other in the beginning at all but when they get themselves into a pickle they turn to each other. Is Victoria’s husband right in front of her or does she need to look somewhere else?
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde. I loved this book. I read it one sitting and once you start you will want to do the same. Its the story of Lady Victoria Gilbert who is older than most debutantes because of a horrible mistake during her first coming. A rumor was spread because she made a friend mad and it ruined her chance to find a husband so she is desperate to find one now. She longs for a husband and children. Blake Hall is a new rick son of a Mill Tycoon and has been spurned in the love department because he wasn’t good enough. He has sworn off women especially debutantes until he meets Lady Victoria. Her sharp tongue makes him so confused…does he want to smack her or kiss her. After their first meeting knowing nothing will come of their relationship they banter back and forth until family and friends find them in a compromising position. Blake saves her and hatches a plan to save her reputation by saying they are engaged. Feelings get involved while they are spending time together and there is a lot more at stake than a reputation. Will they make their crazy situation work? Read A Gentlemen’s Stipulation to find out!
I enjoyed the love-hate in this book. It’s number 4 in the series but can be read as a standalone. Lady Victoria isn’t impressed with Blake and Blake isn’t impressed with Victoria. It doesn’t matter that shes attracted to him….she wants love, not convenience. Shes a bit brash which threw me off considering the genre, but it ended up being a decent book.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon book 4) by Jean Wilde was a great book. I got a great kick out of the nicknames that Victoria gave her fiancee, Blake.
In this enemies to lovers romance Victoria is on the hunt for a husband. Blake on the other hand is not looking to be married any time in the near future. Upon their first meeting things seem to be going well until a miscommunication of sorts happens. From there things between the two seem a bit rocky, until they are caught in a compromising position. This then thrusts them into the position of being betrothed in order to save Victoria’s reputation. While they are getting to know one another before the big day rumors from Victoria’s past start to circulate. Amongst the rumors is something that could bring shame on not only Victoria herself, but her whole family. What will Blake do once he finds out? Will he stand by her or will he leave her so as to not have his family name be tarnished by association? There are several twists and turns throughout this book that I wasn’t expecting, but it made it that much more exciting to read.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde
5-Stars
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde was intriguing and engaging. It was an entertaining romance novel that I struggled to put down. I loved that the author readily caught my attention and pulled me in. The storyline itself had an excellent flow with an interesting climax. It had a sweet ending.
This book can be read as a standalone in the series and follows Lady Victoria Gilbert and Mr. John Blake Hall junior. Victoria and Blake were excellent characters and it was fun to see them warm up to each other as the story progressed. I loved the secrets and scandalous scenes in this book. I enjoyed every bit of this book and easily give it 5-Stars.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde is a historical romance story where the characters usually start out not liking each other and fall in love. I really enjoyed the banter between the two and found myself wanting them to have their HEA. I like something where there is a little sugar and spice and the women are sassy and equal to their partners, well as much as they can be in this period of time. The story is well written and kept me intrigued throughout. There were times when I was extremely frustrated with the characters but I did enjoy it. I did start through the series so I will now have to go back and read the others. I am intrigued to read Isabelle’s story.
