Miss Sarah Crosby knows she is already considered a spinster. Sent to London in order to take care of her aunt and help her cousin to make her debut, she has no hope for her own future. It is only when Miss Bavidge introduces her to Lady Smithton that she finally starts to believe that she might be able to have a life of her own.Unfortunately, most of her time is taken up accompanying her cousin, … up accompanying her cousin, Miss Sophia Marks. Much to her shame, Sarah finds herself becoming greatly interested in one of her cousin’s suitors, Lord Daniel Ruddington. He is quiet and retiring, barely smiles and seems to carry a great weight on his shoulders but she is still drawn to him.
Lord Daniel Ruddington has no-one he can turn to.
Pretending that he is nothing more than a gentleman enjoying London society, he hides a great secret and a furious anger within his heart as he attempts to further his acquaintance with Miss Sophia Marks. However, his gaze is so often drawn to her companion, her quiet, kind nature contrasting with his determination for revenge.
Will he be able to take his revenge? Or will Miss Crosby be the one to stop him?
This book is the third book of a series called The Spinsters Guild, a group of unusual ladies who are almost “on the shelf”. Can Lady Emily help them find their perfect match?

This is a good, clean, regency read that is most enjoyable for sure!!
I just finished reading A Gentleman’s Revenge (The Spinsters Guild Book 3) by Rose Pearson. I have enjoyed all Rose Pearson’s Regencies and this is no exception. The book tells Miss Crosby’s story – that of a plain girl considered a spinster and how she ended up with a Happy Ever After with the help of some friends. It also tells the story of a Lord who struggles between increasing affections for Miss Crosby and the desire to bring revenge for a family wrong. This is a clean, fast paced Regency romance which is highly entertaining. I highly recommend this book for all fans of Regency Romance.
A Gentleman’s Revenge is a nicely written, clean Regency romance with an intriguing subplot.
Miss Sarah Crosby is an attractive, modest young lady with no prospects and is considered a spinster. Her cousin, Sophia Marks, is a beautiful but spoiled young woman coming into her first season. Miss Crosby is to be her cousins’ chaperone at events to make sure she does not compromise herself.
Lord Daniel Ruddington is determined to court Miss Marks, We soon find out he is holding a grudge against her father and wants to ruin not only Miss Marks, but the entire family.
However, after meeting Miss Crosby, Daniel begins to doubt his motives. He also finds he is very much attracted to Miss Sarah Crosby. And she is very attracted to him, even though she thinks she has no chance with him.
This is a nice, clean Regency romance that stays true to the period. The writing was very nicely done, and I did not notice any overt errors either in the writing, the period or the language. The characters developed well and there were a few surprises. I very much enjoyed reading it! I look forward to more “Spinsters Guild” stories.
The spinster guild series of Rose Pearson is quite different from her other series. It empowered its readers. It will make you root for the protagonist. It is clearly linked too, though stand alone.
Miss Sarah Crosby was being reprimand by Lord Britton her cousin’s father. Miss Sophia Marks, Lord Britton’s daughter, Sophie was difficult to keep up with and she laughed and flirted and conversed with almost every gentleman she met. Sarah kept trying to keep up with her but Sophie paid no attention whatsoever to what Sarah told her. She then went to read to Lady Britton because she depended on Sarah doing things for her. Ms. Crosby was a member of the Spinsters Guild and two weeks later she was talking with the Lady Smithton and she could not stop herself from crying on how things were turning out and she was not finding a gentleman who might marry her. She told Lady Smithton that her father Viscount March never believed that she would find someone to marry her. Lady Smithton said that she would look different if she wore her hair in a softer manner and if she wore a gown of some color other than gray. Lady Smithton then decided it was time to go and purchase new grounds for both Miss Bavidge and Ms. Crosby getting at least two for Ms. Crosby. Viscount Daniel Ruddington was at the ball and narrowed his eyes towards Ms. Sophie marks walked into the ballroom and headed directly to Ms. Marx running over Ms. Crosby causing her to fall backwards and hit the floor. He apologized and set her hand gently on his arm so he could accompany her and make sure she was not injured. They introduced themselves to each other. Daniel said that he would take her back to her chaperone and Sarah informed him that she was a chaperone herself and that she must do all she could to aid her cousin. Daniel had plans for Sophie but was drawn to Sarah. To find out which one Daniel finally chooses you have to read the book. It’s a very good book…
Sarah is considered a spinster. She goes to London to take care of her aunt and help her cousin make her debut. When she meets Lady Smithton she begins to believe she has hope for a future.
This is the third book in the spinsters guild series and a definite must read with a fascinating story line and well developed charters.

A Gentleman’s Revenge is another wonderful story from Rose Pearson. The characters are well written as you read to see if Miss Sarah Crosby can find her happily ever after. She has been almost demoted to servant status as she takes care of her aunt and chaperones her cousin during her debut. Even though there are sparks when she meets Viscount Daniel Ruddington, it seems that he will ask for her cousin’s hand. Unknown to Sarah, he is out for revenge against her cousin’s father, Lord Britton. Can this fine gentleman go through with his plan for revenge?
A great read that deals with women who have a harder time finding love in Regency era. This is book three from the series. You don’t have to read the others before reading this one, but I would recommend reading all of them for great reading.

The storyline was well written and the characters were written with such great detail and depth that this book was a very enjoyable and entertaining read! I always enjoy reading what this author writes!
A family-friendly look at character and revenge in Regency England which takes less than a day to read.

Another great story by Rose Pearson. A love triangle that is full of romance and what will happen. A story of a spinster who has the competition of her cousin in finding love.

What a wonderful addition to “The Spinsters Guild” series. I loved Sarah and Daniel’s story. It was so different than I thought it would be and I loved that. I also enjoyed reading more about Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham. I look forward to the next book in this series. If you love good clean Regency romance, you will love this book.

I loved reading this 3rd book about the Spinster Guild. Sarah is sent to help her aunt and act as a chaperone to her cousin. Her cousin has no desire to find a suitor and just wants to flirt with all the gentlemen. Sarah is introduced to Lady Smithton and is helped by her. Viscount Daniel Ruddington runs into Sarah and both feel sparks, or at least an attraction. Daniel finds Sarah may be an aide in getting to Sophia Marks. Daniel has ulterior motives, but will Sarah be able to help him or hinder him?

Sarah Crosby is a companion to her flirty precocious cousin, Sophie Marks. Both from titled families but Sarah is treated like poor relation with no prospects. Lady Smithton promises to assist as Sarah is sure she will end up as a companion with no husband. Lord Ruddington is a man on a mission to right a family wrong. He is determined to court Miss Marks but finds himself drawn to Sarah, who is also confused at her feelings for the Lord. An enjoyable story with twists. My only frustration was the spoilt and wilful Miss Marks and her pretentious father did not get their comeuppance.

A wonderful tale, full of adventure and intrigue. I absolutely love these Spinster’s Guild stories! Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham step up to the plate and come to the rescue of yet another young lady. The story line is great, it’s full of surprises, suspense, twists and turns. The book is very well written and the characters are wonderful and engaging. I couldn’t put the book down, and was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how things would turn out for Miss Crosby and Lord Ruddington. I loved the tentative, slowly developing sweet romance between them. This story was an absolute pleasure to read, and I can’t wait to read the next installment of The Spinster’s Guild Series!
The third book in The Spinsters Guild series a well written story of a man out for revenge against people who let some terrible thing happen to his sister. I enjoyed reading Miss Sarah Crosby and Lord Daniel Ruddington’s story. I hope there is more to come in this series. Another story of The Spinster club, with Mrs. Smithton and Lord Havisham coming to the aid of Miss Sarah Crosby, who comes to London to attend to her cousin’s first season. She has had one season herself, but did not secure a match. Therefore, she is lacking in confidence as well as funds to support much of a wardrobe this season.
At the first event, she meets Lord Daniel Ruddington, a man she finds attractive, but who seems taken with her cousin, Sophia Marks. He then pursues Miss Sophia Marks, but it is clear (to the reader) that his motive is not love. Miss Crosby is our heroine, a fine young lady that deserves an honorable man. Lord Ruddington vacillates from being honorable in his actions in public to dishonorable in his intentions throughout the story—a wishy-washy Hero at best, although his honor wins out in the end. At risk is his reputation as well as the good regard by a young lady whose respect he does not want to lose, Miss Sarah Crosby. A complicated story, that only becomes clear at the end.
I liked the storyline and Sarah. Sophia, her cousin, is a flirt that has little depth, intentionally so for this story. When we see Ruddington vacillate from being a gentleman to being a man with an ulterior motive in pursing Sophia, it is difficult to have much regard for him. When his motives and intentions become clear, it is easier to forgive him and think that PERHAPS he does deserve Sarah after all. But he certainly is a weak hero for our strong heroine. A clean story, appropriate for all ages.

Daniel seeks out Sarah’s cousin Sophia, not because he wants to, but because he feels compelled to court her. The reader isn’t told why until later in the book, just that the title implies he is after some sort of revenge. I didn’t like how he knocked Sarah over and left her waiting for a dance he had promised her and that later on she has a new dress and he suddenly notices her. He can’t help being attracted to Sarah, but he pushes her away and focuses on the cousin. I also didn’t like how Sarah still thinks he’s wonderful and is attracted to him even though he treats her that way. The best character in the book is Lady Smithton, who helps wallflowers like Sarah by buying them new gowns, teaching them about self-worth, and finding suitors who will appreciate them. I hope she has her own romance in a future book.
Carrying over from the previous book Mrs. Southington and Mr. Havershem are both in this book as well. Wanting to help the ladies in the spinsters guild find suitable husbands. Wonderful story line, great characters and entertaining.
