After 26 years as the trophy wife of a powerful man, Mary Davis is both a widow with no sense of identity and a mother who doesn’t know how to bridge the gap between herself and her increasingly distant daughter. When Mary finds a framed motto promising that “It’s never too late to be who you might have been,” she is haunted by the memory of an old flame and guilt over the way things ended … between them. In a desperate attempt to reconcile the past and find a new future, Mary returns to Paris, the city where she won and lost her first love. Paris will change everything for Mary and her daughter, in ways neither could imagine.

I loved the characters and the setting. It held my interest throughout.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Realistic story line. One of my favorites.
After 26 years of marriage to a difficult man, Mary has trouble finding herself. She is also finding the relationship with her daughter becoming strained. When she finds a motto saying “It’s never to late to be who you might have been.” She remembers an old flame and decides to go to Paris to reconcile the guilt over the way their relationship ended. Paris changes everything for Mary and her daughter. It is a sweet story of second chances.
A Garden in Paris is well written and kept my attention. I really enjoyed it. It has some depth.
In her youth Mary Davis made a tragic decision due to the demands of her parents. She made the best she could of a marriage to a demanding, dominating man; upon his death, she became Mary Davis again. She returns to Paris where she encounters the love of her youth. During her stay in Paris, interesting characters are met and a broken relationship with her daughter is restored. A quote from the book best describes the theme of the book. The quote is “It is never too late to be what you might have been.”
One of the best reads of my summer.
Liked it, but don’t think I would wander around Paris by myself comfortably.
The only thing I didn’t like about the book was that it ended abruptly. I’m assuming there is or will be a sequel. It more closely resembled real life than so many books. It was pretty believable. Entertaining. Sad in some places, happy in others.
Really enjoyed this book.
Great Christian read without being “in you face”. Believable characters. Left me wanting more–oh, wait, there is more! Cannot wait to read the sequel!
Too many blank pages on my Kindle.
Very well written. Many twists and turns to keep you reading. Anxious to read the sequel.
So very good. Loved the characters. Read the sequel obtained from library.
Great story line. Good character development. Really loved this book.
I truly enjoyed this book. The premise was believable, and the characters showed spunk.
Just a good read.
Loved this story!
Excellent character development, lovely scenes, great plot. Several surprises near the end of the book. Honesty, questions about God, and not “preachy”. Very realistic and thoroughly lovely!
Loved not fighting out out. Very unusual plot. Nice story.
Unexpected twists in this nice romantic book.
