NOW THE ACCLAIMED HBO SERIES GAME OF THRONES—THE MASTERPIECE THAT BECAME A CULTURAL PHENOMENON Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert’s name. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn; his sons … wife, Catelyn; his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon; his daughters Sansa and Arya; and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse—unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season.
Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances. Now Robert is riding north to Winterfell, bringing his queen, the lovely but cold Cersei, his son, the cruel, vainglorious Prince Joffrey, and the queen’s brothers Jaime and Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister—the first a swordsman without equal, the second a dwarf whose stunted stature belies a brilliant mind. All are heading for Winterfell and a fateful encounter that will change the course of kingdoms.
Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Prince Viserys, heir of the fallen House Targaryen, which once ruled all of Westeros, schemes to reclaim the throne with an army of barbarian Dothraki—whose loyalty he will purchase in the only coin left to him: his beautiful yet innocent sister, Daenerys.

Still waiting for author to complete the story!
What can I say about these novels? Hell, there are so successful with the HBO series and all the sling off books. It’s a great read!!!!
I loved this series. I have read it a couple of times. Every a new book comes out I start from the beginning again.
No one is off limits from the author
I have read all The Game Of Thrones books. Loved them all
This is one instance where I like the show better. There is a lot of action and characters and nothing is as it seems.
I loved this whole series
This series by George R. R. Martin is amazing!
An action-packed period fantasy. Isn’t that enough to hold your interest? But wait. There is more. War, intrigue, incest, and plain old adultery add to to the drama of who will sit on the Iron Throne.
This book was unlike anything I’d ever read before. Nothing went how I expected it would go, but this was never a bad thing. I laughed, cried, and sat on the edge of my seat glued to page after page. This is one of the best high fantasy series I have read. The TV series is well done with understandable changes from the book for some characters, …
Wonderful read for world building and action! The map in the book was great to see an use for understanding where characters are and where they are heading in this different works and time!
At times the descriptions get too long, but it’s good
One of the best
There are a lot of characters but I loved the whole series.
Epic, seriously epic.
Perfect mixture of medieval and fantasy!
love these books
Okay. I get it. I know I am late to the party, and now I see why everyone is raving about A Game of Thrones. I was confused in the beginning, being fed so much information, but it didn’t take me long to become invested in the characters, fearing for their lives, and wondering who will live and who will die before the first books ends. The more I …
I read this before HBO took over. Good build-up, and surprising ending. But if you’re a character driven reader you may want to skip this series. No protagonist (or antagonist) is safe.
I’m hooked!
