A GAME OF THRONES
A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE: BOOK ONE
With a special foreword by John Hodgman
Winter is coming, and in the frozen wastes to the North, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a region of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale rife with plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, as each faction endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.

Probably the greatest fantasy series ever, with a brilliant TV, adaptation, but may up up as one of the great unfinished works to the dismay of millions
Book is as good as the series!
Amazing literature
A lot has already been said about ‘A Game of Thrones’ due to the HBO series (which has deviated so far from the book as to be a separate story entirely) so all I can add is that when I first obtained this book I didn’t know what to expect, having been raised with Tolkien, Brooks, Lewis et.al. I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the storyline and how well thought-out the plot was. Martin was thinking ahead the whole time which usually means you’re in for a great story, and for sure it was.
Nasty violent sexist racist seriously the only part I liked was that the dragons, essentially, won. I never watched the show but I’m told they botched the ending. Turns out it’s baby dragons all the way down.
I love the book series. Just waiting on the next one!
This book was a story that drew you in, it keep your attention & didn’t let it go. You became an active part of the story & identified with the characters. When you thought you could walk away they upped the ante, there were new players in the game and suddenly the rules changed.
One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. And I’ve readed the book twice! I recommend it highly.
This is an awesome book a must read for experienced readers.
Can’t go wrong with GOT Amazing story, characters, nicely complex
I never watched “A Game of Thrones” when it was on HBO in the past. I had an opportunity to subscribe to HBO/Max recently for free. Before watching GOT I decided to read the books first. What a great book. What a great series of books. I finally watched the series on HBO and although entertained, the books are far and away better.
This copy of Game of Thrones is a must-have! Beautiful collectible copy
I love this series. I probably should have listened to the little voice in my head that told me not to start the series until the author finished writing it. Got burned with Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. The author died before finishing it. With that series fortunately they got another author to finish the last three books. Martin OTOH seems to be in no hurry to finish and appears to be busy doing anything else but.
I loved this book but cannot recommend it. I don’t believe he ever will finish the series, and he gets crueler and crueler as he goes, until it is all just too depressing. But as the first book in an epic fantasy series, this book is amazing.
I have read all the books in the series (that have been published so far) and am still waiting in anticipation for the next novel ‘The Winds of Winter’. The books are full to say the least, with many characters to follow and plots to watch unravel and interlink. This high fantasy series is one of my favourites and I love its complexity, but I understand that some people find the novels difficult to digest because of this. However, any avid fantasy reader would be entirely missing out if they had not yet discovered this phenomenal series.
Game of Thrones was an epic read. Amazing story telling.
This book series is amazing. Never read anything like it.
Enjoyed the premise. Characters were great. That being said, it was difficult to remember all the characters as the author jumped from character to character without giving the reader a chance to get to know them. HBO was much easier to folllow. Normally I prefer books over theater but not this time!. LL.
