With age comes wisdom. Apparently.
In need of a little quick cash, Alfhild Daemonne has reluctantly agreed to host a convention for her deceased grandmother’s old sorority society. But only on the explicit condition everyone behaves.
When several dozen elderly witches—both alive and dead—descend on Whittle Inn, chaos isn’t far behind.
In addition to a cackling cohort of bumptious witches with … to a cackling cohort of bumptious witches with finicky eating habits and their squad of unruly familiars, the sudden appearance of an elevator with a mind of its own means our poor old Alf has a lot on her hands.
Then, when a witch is found dead in The Snug, Alf calls in a detective from the Ministry of Witches, and unfortunately that puts her at loggerheads with her ex, DS George Gilchrist.
Who amongst this gaggle of ghastly grandmamas finished off their rival? Can Alf restore sanity? Will she ever have a moment’s peace?

Chaos always reigns at the Wonky Inn, but a convention for her grandmother’s sorority should be pretty benign, right? I love the humor and the way Alf just rolls with the punches. Who’d of thought grandmas could get into so much trouble! I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.

I greatly enjoyed this whole series. It is original, funny, and has great characters, I feel like I know them personally!
I totally think this is my fave by far… yes I know I say that after almost every book but boy oh boy was there lots going on in this one. Not only do we have a strange death, but a gazillion familiars and animals as well as Grandmama’s sorority sisters err I mean witches attending a games week means we are definitely going to have mayhem at the Inn! This one really had me stumped and the finger was pointed at many a meanie witch and maybe a familiar or two and then finding out more about Silvan and his past oh what a treat! So buckle up for mystery, laughs, twists and fun with the gang and the guests in this great read.
Cute book, entertaining humor
Alf needs to come up with something to bring in more guests. Leave it up to Grandmama to come up with a week long game tournament with her sorority of elderly witches! Unfortunately, there is a ghastly grump in the mix that came with a hoard of animals. Throw in a murder and Alf has her hands full. Oh, there is also a very sensitive boiler that Alf has to pamper or her guests will freeze! Every time I read a Wonky Inn book I wish there really was such a place to visit. I’d never leave!

Fun, engaging, laugh out loud till you cry action packed adventure filled with exciting magical charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists, emotionally thrilling turns and intriguing secrets. Great read from beginning to end.
When your ghostly grandma wants to hold a reunion of her cronies, what can our heroine do? Run for the hills is probably the best bet.
This is book nine in the series. Each book works very well as a standalone. It will have references to events past, but all the critical stuff is spelled out pretty quickly. But beware, as the series is highly addictive and you will soon want to read the rest of them.
I have loved the Wonky Inn from the first book I read and that certainly hasn’t changed. As usual, the story is very well written and filled with fun and interesting characters. The characters are diverse and colorful, some helpful and some not so much. With a bunch of grannies about, things are even weirder than usual, which is saying a lot. The book couples a mystery with a good sense of humor that keeps things from getting too intense. The mystery has plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. The overall experience is one of delighted fascination verging on horror with all those elders about, making for an excellent weekend entertainment. As always, I am left looking forward to the next wonky adventure.
Highly recommended.

Oh how I love the Wonly Inn and all it’s occupants! I loved reading this book it was like falling back in with old friends! With a well thought out plot and fantastic characters!
Going through a slow patch and the furnace playing up (nothing a good slap on the side won’t cure…..for the moment) Alf is worried about money, or rather the lack thereof! When Her Great grandmother Alfhild suggests a board games weekend and suggests they invite some of her old group from the WI (That would be Witches Institute thank you very much) and her sorority Kappa Sigma Granma of which there are now over 400 members for a week of board games, food and drink. Though resistant initially, Alf comes round and agrees.
And so the games begin! Another body another visit from Alf’s ex DS George Gilchrist, but because it is a Witch who is dead and likey a Witch who did the killing the Ministry of Witches are sending a detective to,
And obviously things don’t add up so Alf can’t help but investigate herself, but is she putting herself in danger by doing so?
I love the Wonky Inn books I really cannot fault them, the storylines are well thought out, the characters are like old friends, I love Alf and her naivety but her right for justice. I highly recommend this book, you can read them as a stand alone, but to really understand the characters, to get the “in” jokes you really need to read from book 1.
Alf faces a gaggle of games loving grannies when trying to raise funds to replace an ailing boiler
Naturally, a body turns up, and an elevator
Mystery and odd magicks are in play, and loss will fall to those close to Alf.
The ugly sides of life, death and the supernatural reveal themselves again, and Alf learns some darkness is nearer than she’d like to think.
Action packed KU read!
To help the Wonky Inn, Alf’s ghostly grandmother calls a convention of her sorrity to the inn. As if it were not enough to have a large number of any elderly ladies at the inn, these are all witches and demanding. Add to that the body of one of her guests, killed by magic – so in addition to the local police she now has to deal with the detectives of the Ministry of Wichcraft, while trying to find the killer.
Like all of the Wonky Inn stories it is a wonderful blend of funny characters, hilarious situations and a cozy mystery. The characters in this book are a nice mix of demanding to charming to funny. A truly entertaining book

Well its never a dull moment for Alf just as all is well with her. Her dead Grandmother ask to hold her sorority reunion where old witch enemies will come together cause a major co.otion that will lead to the death of a guest with so many likely suspects Alf will have to call in a magical detective and that just irks her ex George what could possibly go wrong well he’s single again that could be a problem and well the Inn could have a boiler problem. As usual I can’t help laughing at Alf and her family and friends antics never a dull moment here.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
Book nine in the Wonky Inn series a well written story with a great storyline. There is suspense, drama, danger, evil, the loss of a close friend, magic, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Alfhild Daemonne needs money for her Inn so, against her better judgment, she reluctantly allows her ghostly grandmother to invite her old witchy sorority friends. Yes, Alf did say they had to behave, but she wasn’t serious about that, was she? Several dozen elderly witches descend upon her, bringing their unruly familiars. And of course, peculiar things start happening.
A witch, one of the guests, is found dead in The Snug which causes an uproar as Alf contacts detectives from the Ministry of Witches, thereby slighting her human detective ex, DS George Gilchrist. With chaos breaking out and everyone clamoring for Alf’s attention, are they ever going to find out who the murderer is?
It’s so nice to have the old gang back as we laugh at the goings-on back at the Inn. Life never seems to settle down there – and Alf can be counted on for always giving the reader a good time! Grab your copy and see how many things can happen per minute – or per page. Just keep in mind that Alf is on top of things so there’s nothing at all to worry about… right?
Alf is faced with a problem or two.
This series has been such fun reading and this new addition was like getting ice cream with my cake it was so good. Again Alf is faced with a problem, oh, but the life of an innkeeper is never quiet there are witches, familiars, ghosts, and a few other critters she must deal with. I almost forgot there is her grandma and now grandma’s sorority. This magical murder mystery was a hoot! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This series is so much fun to read! Keeps my mind engaged and a smile on my face… Wonderful characters!

Another rousing adventure for Alf and the crew at Wonky Inn. Alf is laugh out loud funny and I hope she never changes! What a crazy predicament she finds herself in…a whole bunch of her grandmother’s friends come for a visit and a bunch of strange things start to happen. I love this series so much!
Alfhild and her kooky friends, co-workers, employees, ghosts, and familiars are back in another hilarious adventure! This time, she needs money to fix the ages old boiler…to the tune of 15,000 pounds! She just got done telling everyone no more weddings or group activity holidays…she has had enough! Well, now she has changed her mind…and her great gramma suggests having a game week for her fraternity of witches~ Poor Alfhild agrees…but what happens next…another mysterious murder, a missing parakeet, a ton of familiars, an out-of-place elevator, Silvan’s relative, a missing witch mother and more! How will they deal with things this round? Why not only the local detectives…but the Witch Council as well! She is in over her head once again…but she ALWAYS manages to find the right balance to solve the mystery and everyone’s wishes! I received via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.
This book had a smooth flow. The story line was great. The character work was terrific. I was highly entertained from beginning to end and found myself laughing several times.

Wonderful characters. Alive or Dead. Alfhild needs more business at her Inn so she caves and agrees to let her ghostly grandmother invite all of the witches from her witch sorority. Now Alfhild has to deal with elderly demanding witches, more familiars than there are witches, a wonky magical boiler that requires TLC (literally), a magically appearing elevator that goes right through the ceilings and into her office, and the death of one of the guests. She has witch investigators, her ex who is a human detective, and now her boyfriend there, and everyone is demanding her attention. Her week just isn’t going as planned.
