Felicity Schafer throws her boss, Austin Fortune, a curveball when she hands in her resignation. She’s worked hard to earn her MBA and wants to move into a new role. She’s been crushing on Austin for years and feels it’s time to move on with her life professionally and personally.
Austin is a workaholic who depends on Felicity for everything from his morning coffee to ordering his dinner. Austin has immersed himself in his job at Fortune Investments since his bitter divorce and considers Felicity as a friend.
The chemistry between the two characters sizzled from the first page of the novel. Loved their conversations and Austin’s reaction to Felicity leaving the firm. I was so happy that Felicity’s friend Maia gave her a makeover- haircut and highlights and updated makeup palette. The makeover gave Felicity confidence and Austin took a step back and noticed the changes. She agrees to go out on a date with a friend of Maia’s and Austin is forced to recognize that he has feelings for Felicity.
Nancy Robards Thompson has written another fabulous addition to The Fortunes series- the characters and their office romance are relatable. The author does a great job with the perception piece of the office romance and balances the characters feelings and emotions perfectly. After his first marriage, Austin does not believe in love. Loved reading how his feelings toward Felicity changed. I adored the secondary characters of Maia (fairy godmother # 1) and Savannah (fairy godmother #2). Loved the novel’s conclusion and the epilogue made me cry!
If you like a story with a bit of Cinderella magic, a fairy godmother or two, a swoon worthy dance at a ball, you will love this book. I highly recommend A Fortune Arrangement and can’t wait for the author’s next book.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
4 1/2 STARS!
Unrequited love … or is it? With the next book in The Fortunes of Texas: The Lost Fortunes series, we get Austin’s story. He thinks he’s living the good life, but when the woman who makes his world turn just the way he likes it offers up her resignation, he’s gutted. She’s just an assistant right? He can replace her easily can’t he? So why does it feel like a chunk of him is going to be missing when she walks out the door? Great story line, fulfilling characters and a sweet happily ever after in the making!
Felicity Schafer hit the jackpot when she got the job as Austin Fortune’s assistant five years ago and she’s enjoyed learning so much about the business world from him. She fell hard for him years ago but he still doesn’t notice she’s alive as anything other than the person who makes his day run smoothly, so she doesn’t see that it’s worth wasting anymore of her time.
Austin Fortune went through a nasty divorce filled with deception and betrayal right about the time Felicity came into his life, so he wasn’t exactly looking at the dynamo that righted his world the moment she entered it. Five years have passed, and she now wants to move on to bigger and brighter things. He can’t blame her a bit, but why does it feel like she’s about to take a part of him with her? What are these feelings he’s all of a sudden having when he’s around her?
I enjoyed this installment in the Fortunes of Texas series. Austin is one of those incredibly blind guys, who overlooks the woman right in front of him, but at least he’s smart enough to realize what he’s missing when that woman decides to move on without him.
I read an advanced copy of this book
Felicity was lucky to land a job at Fortune Investments as Austin Fortune’s personal assistant, and Austin was lucky to have Felicity on his team. She untangled his professional life and gave him a chance to concentrate on business and they worked together seamlessly. As Felicity finishes her degree, she decides that it’s time to focus on her future, and try to find a way to forget her unrequited love for Austin. Once she turns in her notice, will Austin start to realize that Felicity is more than an assistant?
A fun quick read with two characters that are perfect together and just need to figure out that they are! This is part of a series, but can easily stand alone. Nancy Robards Thompson never fails to give the readers characters they will root for and a story they will happily disappear into.
A Fortunate Arrangement by Nancy Robards Thompson.
Felicity Schafer and Austin Fortune are the main characters
Felicity is Austin’s executive assistant and she falls in love with Austin and decides that it is time to resign and see if she can find someone who will love her. Austin does not want her to leave. When Austin thinks about her leaving he realizes that he has fallen in love with her and tries to convince her to stay with him. It was a very well written Fortune book. I really enjoyed and would recommend to anyone looking for a great book.
A Fortunate Arrangement is fifth in the series but is also a stand alone novel. This is story of a secret crush and finally realizing how important something is when you almost lose it. This is a well written story that flows easily and has a strong character base. Felicity has decided that pining for her boss is getting her no where and that she must move on. She turns in her notice and that is when Austin realizes that his feelings for Felicity are more than boss/employee but because of a bad marriage and divorce he is afraid to act on his feelings. This is a great story that has many emotional aspects and a beautiful conclusion.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
