A Forbidden Love Novella books 1-4 of 8
1. Book 1: The Wrong Brother :5 stars
I received a free copy of the historical novel The Wrong Brother: A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series Book 1) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Bree Wolf does it again! The words flow effortlessly on the page relating the love between twin brothers Robert and Charles and how they deal with the forbidden love that starts between Robert and Isabella on the day Charles marries Isabella. This is a well-written short and Sweet romance that starts out as many regency romance with a marriage based on friendship and respect. The Wrong Brother is both poignant and heartwarming at the same time. Truly an excellent start to the series.
2. Book 2: A Brilliant Rose: 5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical romance A Brilliant Rose: A Forbidden Love Novella book 2 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A Brilliant Rose is the second in this well-written series of sweet novels. The story continues with Charles continuing to act as his twin, Robert Lord Norwood. Bree Wolf takes you through the isolation Charles feels with his new identity, the heartache of being rejected for Robert’s reputation with women, and the love of a father for his daughter. This second and last in the Norwood Brothers tales express the adages of you can’t hide your true colors, a woman always recognizes the man she loves and, love conquers all. This is another heartwarming short story with a happy ending.
3. Book 3: The Forgotten Wife: 5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical novel The Forgotten Wife: A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series Book 3) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
The Forgotten Wife is a well-written clean Historical Romance. It is a warmhearted romance providing you with 2 romances. It covers the story of Catherine and William reconnecting despite the help of their siblings. It also gives you hints at the budding romance between Christine and Wesley. I agree with the Author. I received and read An Unwelcome Proposal before reading The Forgotten Wife. They are best if read in order. If you are just starting the series, I would highly recommend a box set to allow easy flow from one novel to the next.
Best if read in series order.
4. Book 4: An Unwelcome Proposal: 4 stars
I received a free copy of the historical novel An Unwelcome Proposal: A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series Book 4) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
An Unwelcome Proposal completes the fourth and last of the Forbidden series novellas and relates the rocky love story of Wesley and Christine. The story begins as The Forgotten Wife did with Wesley’s Brother’s riding accident and Christine’s call to her sister’s side. In an Unwelcome Proposal, the events are told from the view of Wesley and Christine. Wesley, the playboy, has trouble convincing his Sister in law, free-spirited Christine, that marriage can be rewarding and not restricting. The story that unfolds is at times sad and other times humorous but ultimately has a heart-warming and happy ending. While well written, I would have liked this story better if it was a standalone or if it did not cover the same time frame as The Forgotten Wife.
A Forbidden Love Novella Boxset Books 5-8
1. Book 5: Rules to Be Broken: 5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical novel Rules to Be Broken: A Forbidden Love Novella book 5 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
I enjoyed seeing the change in Diana from being a jealous embittered mother who ignored her son Benedict and lusted after her Cousin Rose’s husband Lord Norwood to a loving mother and a caring wife to Arthur the Earl of Stanhope.
2. Book 6: Hearts to Be Mended: 5 stars
I received a free copy of Hearts to be Mended: A Forbidden Love Novella book 6 by Bree Wolf and this review is given freely.
Hearts to be Mended picks up Diana and Arthur’s lives from where they left off in Rules to Broken but also features two new clean romances. The love stories of Henry with Arthur’s sister Eleanor and Henry’s brother Nick with Eleanor’s cousin Connie are troubled but ultimately end happily. Written in the Regency style, this novel ties together couples from prior novels, is suspenseful, contains a family scandal, has lots of well-meaning meddling family members, multiple babies, and ends with a cliffhanger.
3. Book 7: Winning Her Hand:5 stars
I received a free copy of the novella Winning Her Hand: A Forbidden Love Novella book 7 of A Forbidden Love Novella Series by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Winifred and Trent’s romance is a simple and sweet romance involving a man finally having the courage to express his love after a 5-year separation and a woman who finally accepts that what she feels for her childhood friend is a strong and abiding love. Seeking the happiness her parents had, Winifred forms a pact with her brother Griffin to enter a marriage based on compatibility rather than for love. Realistic characters, some jealousy, seemly random meetings, and a cliffhanger make this an interesting and fast-paced read.
4. Book 8: Conquering Her Heart:5 stars
I received a free copy of the novella Conquering Her Heart: of A Forbidden Love Novella book 8 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Winifred and Griffin’s pact continues in this fast-paced novella with Griffin being the target of his mischievous matchmaking married sister. Winifred seeing through the facade that recently orphaned Abigail has erected to protect herself against money-hungry suitors matches Abigail with her caring if slightly clueless brother. Joined in solidarity, Abigail and Griffin make a pact of their own. I loved the fiercely loyal and loving personality of Abigail, the crotchety Grandfather, the humor evoked by the multiple conniving yet lovingly interfering characters contained in this book, and of course the happy ending.
The Wrong Brother (Robert Dashwood)
A delightful romp between twins and a marriage that they both knew would forever be the most difficult to experience unless they made the most daring life altering change unlike anything they had done as brothers. Love trumps all, whether it be between brothers or their love interests, this was a very heartwarming story.
A Brilliant Rose (Charles Dashwood)
Watching the twins try to climb out of a perplexing situation which they created was very entertaining to say the least. But all ended well and happily.
The Forgotten Wife: A Regency Romance
He lost his memories of the past five years but one thing I loved about this story was that he fell in love again with his wife. I loved the times they shared, the activities they loved doing together, in the present that made him fall in love with her all over again. Very enjoyable.
An Unwelcome Proposal: A Regency Romance
Christine seemed to me to be totally infuriating. But that seemed to be the one reason Wesley was most attracted to her. It’s a good thing because her infuriating personality created the situation to not only allow her sister and her husband to fall in love again but also led Wesley to realize his deep love for her. I loved that he remained steadfast and didn’t give up on her no matter how much it made his heart hurt.
Rules to Be Broken: A Regency Romance
Of course those dratted rules! One logically keeps all the rules. But love is not logical and this story is about falling in love is it not? A happily ever after one at that!
Hearts to Be Mended: A Regency Romance
Yes, hearts plural. One brother in deep despair living in an alcoholic stupor, the other desperate to acquire his beloved’s mother’s approval to wed. Why one feels the need to meddle in another’s life is beyond me. And another’s misjudgment without all the facts is very troubling. I’m glad all was straightened out in the end resulting in a happily ever after for more than one couple. I have a double smile on my face if that’s possible.
Winning her Hand: A Regency Romance
Here we go again. This time we need to ask, Is this sensible? Can ‘sensible’ be a good reason to marry someone? Oh, how I hope not! Would ‘sensible’ make for a happy life if one is only ‘sensible’ with the other? Where would love and passion fit in? I’m glad that this couple found their happily ever after whether it was ‘sensible’ or not.
Conquering her Heart: A Regency Romance
This one could be a challenge. We learn that there is more to a person than what we first see on the outside. In order to truly know a person we must be willing to delve past the false front and see into the heart. ‘Willing’ is the key word.
I have previously read all the books in this series and have enjoyed them. Each one speaks of love in trying circumstances and they are all standalones, although the characters overlap. The stories are all clean with some adventure and can be read by any age group – provided you have a romantic soul. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I rarely read novellas, however, I enjoyed Bree Wolf’s writing so much that I gave in and tried them. I am so pleased that I did. Each story his entertaining and provides the escape readers look for. Each character stands out on their own and the secondary characters are charming. These are well worth the price. Treat yourself to a few sighs and a lot of smiles. You will not be dissapointed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I know I’m a little dramatic but it’s not every day you get an awesome collection that transports you back to the Regency Era with on point ways and mannerisms that rock society back then. Bree pulled all of these fantastic novellas in one set so we can find them easily and enjoy them sooner. Awesome characters, remarkable scenes and surprising plots. You can’t go wrong here. Thanks Bree for this brilliant collection and I look forward to many more reads.
8 Beautiful stories
Seems like every time I read one of Bree Wolf’s stories that particular one becomes my favorite. In this box set there are eight engaging, witty, gripping and cleverly written novellas for you to feast on – which is exactly what I did. I literally devoured these stories – couldn’t read them fast enough.
I just love the variety of strong characters as well as finding out what they get up to and how they manage to get out of really tight situations.
Each story is written as a stand-alone and yet some of the characters re-appear in other stories too.
I am happy to recommend this box set as a very enjoyable and entertaining one, full of the stories which I read as an Advance Reader and the review above is unbiased and voluntarily given.
