A Forbidden Love Novella books 1-4 of 8
1. Book 1: The Wrong Brother :5 stars
I received a free copy of the historical novel The Wrong Brother: A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series Book 1) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Bree Wolf does it again! The words flow effortlessly on the page relating the love between twin brothers Robert and Charles and how they deal with the forbidden love that starts between Robert and Isabella on the day Charles marries Isabella. This is a well-written short and Sweet romance that starts out as many regency romance with a marriage based on friendship and respect. The Wrong Brother is both poignant and heartwarming at the same time. Truly an excellent start to the series.
2. Book 2: A Brilliant Rose: 5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical romance A Brilliant Rose: A Forbidden Love Novella book 2 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A Brilliant Rose is the second in this well-written series of sweet novels. The story continues with Charles continuing to act as his twin, Robert Lord Norwood. Bree Wolf takes you through the isolation Charles feels with his new identity, the heartache of being rejected for Robert’s reputation with women, and the love of a father for his daughter. This second and last in the Norwood Brothers tales express the adages of you can’t hide your true colors, a woman always recognizes the man she loves and, love conquers all. This is another heartwarming short story with a happy ending.
3. Book 3: The Forgotten Wife: 5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical novel The Forgotten Wife: A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series Book 3) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
The Forgotten Wife is a well-written clean Historical Romance. It is a warmhearted romance providing you with 2 romances. It covers the story of Catherine and William reconnecting despite the help of their siblings. It also gives you hints at the budding romance between Christine and Wesley. I agree with the Author. I received and read An Unwelcome Proposal before reading The Forgotten Wife. They are best if read in order. If you are just starting the series, I would highly recommend a box set to allow easy flow from one novel to the next.
Best if read in series order.
4. Book 4: An Unwelcome Proposal: 4 stars
I received a free copy of the historical novel An Unwelcome Proposal: A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series Book 4) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
An Unwelcome Proposal completes the fourth and last of the Forbidden series novellas and relates the rocky love story of Wesley and Christine. The story begins as The Forgotten Wife did with Wesley’s Brother’s riding accident and Christine’s call to her sister’s side. In an Unwelcome Proposal, the events are told from the view of Wesley and Christine. Wesley, the playboy, has trouble convincing his Sister in law, free-spirited Christine, that marriage can be rewarding and not restricting. The story that unfolds is at times sad and other times humorous but ultimately has a heart-warming and happy ending. While well written, I would have liked this story better if it was a standalone or if it did not cover the same time frame as The Forgotten Wife.

I received a free copy of the historical novel An Unwelcome Proposal: A Regency Romance (A Forbidden Love Novella Series book 4) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.

Love trumps all! Loved all four books in this series!
The Wrong Brother (Robert Dashwood)(#1)
A delightful romp between twins and a marriage that they both knew would forever be the most difficult to experience unless they made the most daring life altering change unlike anything they had done as brothers. Love trumps all, whether it be between brothers or their love interests, this was a very heartwarming story.
A Brilliant Rose (Charles Dashwood)(#2)
Watching the twins try to climb out of a perplexing situation which they created was very entertaining to say the least. But all ended well and happily.
The Forgotten Wife: A Regency Romance (#3)
He lost his memories of the past five years but one thing I loved about this story was that he fell in love again with his wife. I loved the times they shared, the activities they loved doing together, in the present that made him fall in love with her all over again. Very enjoyable.
An Unwelcome Proposal: A Regency Romance (#4)
Christine seemed to me to be totally infuriating. But that seemed to be the one reason Wesley was most attracted to her. It’s a good thing because her infuriating personality created the situation to not only allow her sister and her husband to fall in love again but also led Wesley to realize his deep love for her. I loved that he remained steadfast and didn’t give up on her no matter how much it made his heart hurt.
The Wrong Brother: I read this book with mixed emotions. Whilst it was well written with all the pathos of a difficult situation, moral issues left me feeling conflicted. However, having lived through some life changing situations, I have learned to have compassion and realise that not everything in life is black and white. When Isabelle and Robert’s eyes meet right after she has said “I do” to his twin brother, the earth moved for both of them. I felt their anguish and the pain of the dilemma facing them. The ultimate solution, whilst not ideal, did bring the star crossed lovers relief. That being said, the book is clean and intensely romantic.
A Brilliant Rose: A very well written romance, this Regency romance pulled out all the stops for me. When Charles meets Rose at the British Museum, he gets his first inkling of the difficulties his identical twin brother is going to cause him. Rose is honour bound to support her cousin in her grievance against Lord Norwood and she therefore has to go against all the feelings that he has aroused in her when he introduces himself. I really enjoyed the main characters in this book and my emotions were stirred up by the dilemma facing them. In the midst of it Rose’s mischievous father, Mr Lawson, played his part to perfection.
The Forgotten Wife: It is an interesting approach to dealing with amnesia. When Will fails to recognise his wife, Catherine is devastated and her sister suggests a plan to take the pressure off both Will and Catherine. However, the plan backfires to some extent and leaves Will feeling even more confused. The story had a good flow of language and story line, but I was uncomfortable with the approach adopted by Will’s well meaning family to assist him in regaining his memory. Ultimately, he doesn’t recall the last five years, but his heart does remember Catherine.
An Unwelcome Proposal: There are so many words that could describe Christine Dansby – stubborn, cynical, high spirited, inventive and rebellious. However, at heart she is compassionate and kind. She just does not believe in marriage for herself. She’s not even a “glass half empty” girl. In her opinion, the glass is doomed to be empty as she doesn’t expect anything good to happen in life unless she has full control over every situation. In an attempt to assist her sister after her husband’s accident, Christine concocts a plan that puts her in Wesley Everett’s orbit. He has been attracted to her ever since he met her, but Christine is very firm about letting him know that his chances of marriage to her are non-existent, given that marriage is another of those institutions she does not believe in. It takes making a plan such as Christine would concoct, for Wesley to finally get her attention and make her second guess her outlook on life. Although a clean romance, this one is far from sweet as Christine is hardly the kind of woman to engender sympathetic feelings. I enjoyed Wesley’s character, his firm stand with Christine and his honourable nature.
Although this book is part of a series and some of the characters in previous books appear in this one too, it is nevertheless a standalone. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I have read all four of these novellas and the following are my voluntary and unbiased reviews on each of these lovely and very easy to read and enjoyable stories:
1. The Wrong Brother
What a terrible thing to have happen. Can you imagine, you just said “I do” and you turn around and fall head over heels in love with your husband’s twin brother?
This was such an amazing story with fabulous characters. It was so easy to read and follow and I just loved every moment of this first novella in this series and am very happy to recommend it to you. Enjoy!
2. A Brilliant Rose
This story links in perfectly with Book 1 of this series! (The Wrong Brother). It tells us how the other twin, Charles Dashwood, falls in love with Rose Lawson and the strange situation they find themselves in.
Because of something her cousin told her, Rose doesn’t want anything to do with him and he is totally clueless as to why.
Of course as this is a love story and there is a happily-ever-after to look forward to which is so cleverly plotted by our author, Bree Wolf, that you will be kept guessing as to what will happen from scene to scene in this fast paced novella.
I loved the whole concept, the wonderful characters, the clever storyline, the wit and then there is the sigh-worthy moment when Charles and Rose finally sort themselves out.
3. The Forgotten Wife
Seems like every time I read one of Bree Wolf’s stories it becomes my favorite one.
This particular one resonated on my heart strings as I read how a husband lost his memories of the last 5 years after an accident and he also seems to have lost the love he had for his wife, not that he can even remember having married her nor loving her.
His sister-in-law hatches a plan to reawaken his feelings for his wife, but will this work? You will have to read this stand-alone novella to find out.
The story is beautifully written with deep and strong characters, each one playing a crucial and brilliant part to make the story come alive.
I really did enjoy this book thoroughly and recommend it so that you too can be pleasantly entertained should you choose to read it.
4. An Unwelcome Proposal
We met Christine and Wesley in the 3rd novella of this series and I am totally amused at the reversal of roles where the male wants to get married and the female is adamant that she does not. This was such a brilliant concept and so unusual that it had me chuckling most of the time.
Bree Wolf has once again written an brilliant story.
Did I enjoy the it? Most definitely!
Would I recommend it? Again, yes, most definitely!
So if you want a really great read with lots of fun moments and a terrific story with really strong characters and a wonderful subject matter then you must read this novella (but I would suggest that you read the 3rd one first so that you get the full picture).
