I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in this series. It has great characters, romance, intrigue and of course a HEA. Pia lived on a plantation in South Carolina in America and her father had just died. She had to go to France to live with her grandfather who owned the shipping line she was on. The ship was attacked by pirates who only took Pianoforte. Thor, the pirate captain, was getting revenge for her grandfather trying to kill hum, since he owned half the shipping company. He then became a pirate and waited for his revenge, which he got. There was a lot of intriguing, but the ending was great. Thor and Pianoforte were hot together. The next book looks interesting.

Falling in love in a different way. This was a story of a young woman Pia who’s father died and is being called to go to her grandfather in France. Thor is a man bent on revenge against a business partner and it’s Pia’s grandfather so he decides to use her to get to him. But as they sail together they get to know each other and he begins to feel different. This story was a wonderful story to read as they go about finding each other and what happens after!

Such a yummy story! This book fulfills every girl’s fantasy of being kidnapped by a pirate. Thor becomes a pirate after being shot and left for dead by Pia’s grandfather. He hatches a plan for revenge that involves kidnapping her. However, Cupid arrived uninvited and altered the plan in a rather satisfying way. The hero is georgeous, courageous and honorable in his own way. The heroine is fiesty, witty and desirable. Together, they right a wrong and create a life of value. This story is quick, fun, and steamy. You don’t want to miss it.

A sigh worthy adventure of the high seas with a handsome pirate and beautiful southern belle are brought together.
Pieretta had just lost her father and was being forced to said to France to stay with her grandfather. At least until she reached her majority. She was perfectly capable of running the plantation on her own without a man.
Thor only seeks revenge against the man who tried to kill him and made he become the pirate he was and his granddaughter will be the perfect tool.
But when the two meet sparks fly and it seems the future gets a little tangled. A great short story that will keep you reading as quickly as you can!
This was a sweet, slightly steamy historical romance. It offered a bit of suspense too.
We learn much about Pia and Thor. Why Thor is seeking revenge against Pia’s grandpere.
A trip from Charleston, SC to her grandpere’s estate does not occur without incident. What ensues kept my interest until the very end. Loved the look into the next in the series. It looks to be as interesting and engaging as A Flawed Jewel.
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A Flawed Jewel is book one of A Marsden Romance series and is filled with danger, mystery, adventure and unexpected twists and turns. The story was good and the characters, well who doesn’t love a sexy pirate and a damsel in distress. Overall a good, entertaining read and I look forward to reading the whole series.
Pieretta Carlyle lost her father, leaving only her grandfather, Comte Renard Dubois, who insists that she travel to France to live with him. Pieretta really doesn’t want to leave Charleston but, since her grandfather is her guardian, she has no choice.
Thor is a pirate and plunders the ship Pieretta is travelling on. The two of them are attracted to each other, even though they know this isn’t a good idea. He tries to treat her like a mere tool to achieve vengeance he believes he is owed. Will Pieretta suffer at his hands? Or will he find something more worthy than vengeance to pursue?
A great, short, easy read that’s full of romance and adventure on the high seas. This is the perfect pirate romance! The characters were fun and entertaining and I loved the dialogue between them. Although this was a short book, Ms. Brower doeas a great job with details, helping you to “see” what’s going on. Loved the story and looking forward to the next one!

Hammer of the Gods
I previously read A Flawed Jewel a few months back so this a reread. Thor and Pia were meant to be together they both have such strong personalities. Pia having never been more than fifteen miles from her home in Charleston lost her father and been summoned by her Grandpere to come to France. Thor was on his way to get revenge on his ex business partner who just happens to be dear sweet Grandpere. Thor knew Pia would be the perfect way to get even with Comte Renard Dubois. And he had no problem using her to get his revenge, at first. Comte Renard Dubois, the name just sounds slimy to me which leads me to the one thing that fired me up both times I read the book Pias’ attitude. She was just plain childish at times. After she found out the truth about Grandpere, through words straight from his mouth she still doubted Thor. Although he was her only living relative I don’t remember the, ever being close.
It will go back on my to read again shelf as are many of Dawn Browers books.
After all who wouldn’t want to be plundered by a Norse God masquerading as a Pirate?

This is a good tale of revenge enacted out upon the high seas. Thor was forced into a life of piracy when his former business partner robbed him of his half of their business and left him destitute. When the opportunity to snatch the granddaughter of his former partner presents itself, he kidnaps her and intends to use her for his revenge. The one thing he never took into consideration though was falling in love with Pieretta. This is a nice story that allows the reader to escape into the past and into an age of pirates and drama carried out on the high seas and on into old-world France.

Thor got much, much more than he bargained for in his captive Pia. Though she was a naive young lady who had the intelligence to figure out the best ways to deal with her captor. What began as a simple kidnapping morphed into an outlandish relationship. What Thor meant as a way to seduce Pia ending up having the tables turned on him. He was totally mesmerized by her beauty, smarts, and sass. For Pia it was why did this happen to her and how would she ever get to her destination. These two were entrenched on a path – an adventure of a lifetime.

I have bought a couple of this author’s books and never got around to reading them, so when I passed this arc I couldn’t help myself.
This story is a quick and easy read. There is romance, drama, a couple twists. It gives you a dose of everything without being too deep. I am definitely going to be picking up book two and reading some of her other series. If you like historical romances that give you the feels, I think this is a good book to start reading.

Revenge so sweet. Pia is alone now and can’t stay in America. She has to leave the estate and travel to France as her Grandfather is her guardian. But on the way to France a Pirate named Thor attacks the ship and kidnaps her. She doesn’t know but her grandfather is not honorable and tried murdering Thor years ago to gain full ownership of the shipping company they co-owned. Now Pia will be Thor’s revenge against her grandfather. Getting revenge and getting his life back is within reach. But what happens if he falls in love with her? Up until now, all of the books I’ve read by Brower were clean? So I was surprised to find this a steamy romance. The storyline was fine. I was a tad uncomfortable at times. The ending was better than I expected.

A Flawed Jewel (A Marsden Romance #1) by Dawn Brower
I received this book from the author.
I love Historical stories and Dawn has some great stories!!
This story begins with Pia mourning the loss of her father and having to move from the USA to France. She is not happy about leaving her family home but since she is a woman, she must go to her grandpere. The story jumps in right away with lots of action. Pia and her maid Tully are secluded in the deck of the ship when pirates attack.
Pia comes face to face with pirate Thor. He is fierce and hot…wait not now Pia. She is so confused because of all the men to show interest in, a pirate is not the right one. Not for her station on life annnd for her reputation.
Thor had plans for Pia. She was the perfect revenge tool for him but once he sees her and her beauty, he is stuck stupid. He soon has a change in plan because tossing her aside is no longer his objective. Keeping her is!!
The story jumped right into the action of the kidnaping. Thor and Pia are two peas in a pod. They two are faced with feelings they should not be having yet can’t stop having. When you find out why Thor has kidnapped Pia, you understand his motives but still wanna smack him in the head for “knowing what’s best for her”. Sigh…
This Book 1 in the A Marsden Romance Series is very well-written. The characters in this book are likable, full of life, well-crafted and you want to know them. This book has many twists and turns and cannot be put down. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read more from this Author. A must read story

A short entertaining and enjoyable light-hearted story. The storylone was well thoughtout and smooth flowing with romance, drama and suspense. Good characters.
