From the New York Times bestselling author of Pucked and A Lie for a Lie, a new stand-alone romance about trading favors, battling wills, and winning love. When I joined Seattle’s NHL expansion team, I thought it was the start of something great. But nothing ever goes the way you expect. Take my introduction to my new neighbor. She came rolling in on the hot mess express at midnight, making a … mess express at midnight, making a racket while she tried to get into my team captain’s apartment. Did I mention that he’s married to a woman who definitely was not her?
Imagine my surprise when I end up with an injury that has me out of the game for weeks, and she’s the one to offer to help me. I should probably add that she’s not the captain’s mistress. She’s his sexy, pastel-haired younger sister.
So we come up with an arrangement: she rehabs me so that I can get back on the ice sooner, and she can add a professional athlete that isn’t her brother to her client list. Seems simple enough. As long as I can keep my hands to myself and my hormones in check.

Even though this is only the 2nd book I have read by this author, it will certainly not be the last. A Favor for a Favor is Book 2 of the All In series by Helena Hunting and to date, this is one of my favorites so far this year! This story was an intense slow burn and when things finally start to heat up, Oh My! Excellent story with great character development and lots of laugh out loud moments
SO MUCH FUN!!!
This is a slow burn romance (he’s got a groin injury for goodness sake!) but unlike some others it doesn’t feel like it. Things happen quickly, the pace keeps moving, and it’s not until you’re 75% through the book that you realise they’re still not officially a couple. I mean, the connection is smoking hot right from the beginning, and they spend so much time together laughing and joking you don’t even really notice the time passing. That is fine writing at its best.
This is also an enemies (to friends) to lovers romance. Bishop and Stevie (she’s named after her father) are an amazingly snarky couple. Their banter is quick witted without resorting to nastiness or taunting, and they balance each other out brilliantly. But I also liked that they had an ability to talk things out for the most part. They way they opened up to each other in a way that they didn’t with others was touching. Bishop was not portrayed as a meathead athlete, but as a truly contemporary man.
I also liked the fact that they had solid friendships outside of their relationship. Kingston seems like a standup guy, and I hope his relationship is the real deal. And contrary to some authors’ beliefs, female friends don’t call each other names to indicate closeness. Pattie and Jules are both strong women who honestly have Stevie’s back, turning the dynamic duo into the three musketeers in a short amount of time.
The only things I didn’t like about the story were RJ’s (Rook’s) attitude, and the fact that Bishop’s taste in underwear is never explained. (Is it something his brother started as a gag that kind of turned into something more?)
Overall this was a fun and enjoyable read. Hunting is an author who improves with every story. I’m now counting down the days until her next release!
I like this one better than the book about RJ. Stevie is amazing and Bishop is just so lovable because of his grumpiness and his funny ‘outfits’.
A Favor for a Favor is the second novel in the All In standalone series. The sequel follows RJ’s (from A Lie for a Lie) sister, Stevie, and a new player, Bishop, on the new expansion NHL team in Seattle. Stevie and Bishop do not have the perfect meet cute, instead personalities clash making for an interesting dynamic between the two.
Stevie and Bishop have instant chemistry. Their banter is witty and hilarious. It’s the type of comedy that isn’t over the top or childish. If you didn’t enjoy the comedy in Pucked by Helena Hunting, you’ll certainly enjoy it here. Their tension is palpable as they try to outmatch and outwit each other.
Stevie is a spitfire main character and one of the reasons I enjoyed A Favor for a Favor so much. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and is not an inexperienced virgin. She’s brash yet likeable making her the perfect foil to Bishops’ broodiness.
Overall, A Favor for a Favor is a great sports romance that will make you laugh out loud and swoon all within the same chapter. I am very much looking forward to the next novel, A Secret for a Secret. Hunting can always be relied upon for a romance with characters with personality and tension that is so thick you could cut it with a knife.
4.5 ‘The olive to your pineapple’ Stars!
ARC provided by the the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
We started with lies and now it’s time for favors.. And let me tell you, when it involves a hot grumpy hockey player, I am oh-so-ready for it! I fell in love all over again with Helena Hunting after reading the first in the series and the second installment is just as delicious. Get ready for this slow burn sports romance because it’s a wonderful experience you don’t want to miss!
A Favor for A Favor is the second book in Helena’s All In series and it follows the story of Stevie Bowman and Bishop Winslow. Stevie is RJ’s sister and she is not at her best moment. Her boyfriend just cheated on her and her new neighbor is a grumpy man who is not much a fan of clothes (besides ridiculous underwear). Both make assumptions about each other and that starts the animosity between them. Bishop gets injured while playing and now he needs Stevie to help him with his recovery. That’s the start of their slow burn sexual tension and angsty love story.
From across the hall his body is a lot to handle visually, but this close, good God, this man is stacked. Muscles layer over muscles, everything tight and defined. He’s just… a lot.
And that is what makes A Favor for A Favor such a beautiful story: the slow burn and the emotions together with Helena’s humor and these amazing characters. The development of Stevie and Bishop’s relationship from hate to friendship to love was so well done. All the moments and chemistry between these two are to die for and the whole story keeps you so entertained and hooked to it that I just could not stop reading!
Bishop is a lot of things: sarcastic, assholey, determined, hotheaded, and a mammoth of a man. But his kiss is all the other parts of him I’ve gotten glimpses of over the past several weeks: sweet, gentle, soft. At first, anyway.
Of course, leaving aside how I also loved to catch up with this whole crew of awesome hilarious people, the best thing about this book is the couple. I love how Stevie and Bishop grow together and peel the layers of their personalities with each other. And when that slow burn finally explodes, OMG! So hawt and just so intense! There is also a bit of drama that kept me at the edge of my seat towards the end but I completely understand what and why it happens and it makes the happy ending so much sweeter.
“My whole world is better with you in it, Stevie.”
“Mine too.”
Therefore, my rating for A Favor for A Favor is 4.5 STARS because it’s the perfect addition to the All In series. A fantastic enemies to lovers romance, with a couple with burning chemistry, funny moments, great secondary characters and all the feels! Helena Hunting keeps surprising me and I am so glad I decided to read this series. Now I literally cannot wait for the third book, it sounds forbidden and I am all over it already!
Favor turns out to be more
Stevie younger sister of RJ arrived to her new city to be closer to her brother RJ& his family start her new job & life with her fiancé Joey. In one fail swoop her day just kept getting worse it all started with lost luggage, broken luggage, arriving weeks early to surprise her fiancé only to walk into their new home & finding him pounding into someone who was not her all on her Birthday. RJ, Laney & Kody are at her parents visiting before practices start, so RJ arranges for her to stay at his penthouse apartment until she gets on her feet. That’s when she meets Bishop who assumes that RJ is cheating on his wife & Stevie is just a puck bunny. The wrong assumptions start a whole lot of misgivings until the Favor for a Favor comes into play. Not only will Bishop & Stevie’s confrontation have you laughing, so will Violets antics & words of wisdom. Among all the surprises a brother and sister mend their relationship
I LOVED the chemistry between Bishop and Stevie! Their little games and stubborn encounters were hilarious. You could tell from the beginning that Bishop was a guarded heart and not the total a-hole he projected. I loved that Stevie found a way to get under his skin every chance she got.
I kind of wished that Joey (Stevie’s disgrace of an ex) had gotten what he deserved but the taunting and mind games that he suffered were sufficient. He was such a villain in this story.
This slow burn was so hot and sweet at the same time. Emotions ran high but didn’t evolved from lust to compassion and caring until much later in the book.
I absolutely shipped these two and was so glad for a HEA.
Sports romance at its best!
While Helena Hunting already has a corner on the sports romance book, A Favor for a Favor has a fresh feel, with amazing chemistry, full on belly laughs, and a story that you finish in one sitting. I absolutely loved the bickering that this enemies to lovers romance gave, from the horrible first (and second, and third…) impression, to the intense sparks that were flying, it was fantastic! Stevie and Bishop may just be my favorite character of Ms. Huntings, and when they are thrust together to do favors for each other, the rolling laughter really takes off. I can’t wait to see what comes next in the hockey world! This is the second standalone in the All In series, but I loved that I read A Lie for a Lie first, as the characters are all hilarious. Don’t miss this book!
Stevie is one sexy complicated woman. Bishop is one compassionate man. They have amazing chemistry. The banter between them is amusing and easy. They get each other. Could not wait to see what would happen next. Loved the why Stevie bossed Bishop. Can’t wait to read more from this series. A must read.
Stevie and Bishop story was amazing, I love Helena’s humor and this story has it as all of her books, the hot hockey player is there and the story revolving both is amazing, I love that he is not the good guy, and that they both overcome by helping each other out. There is also the boxer scene, you definitely don’t want to miss it. Can’t wait for the audiobook to hear this story again.
Bishop is part of the team that Stevie’s brother is on and also his neighbor. Stevie comes home to find her boyfriend in bed with another woman. She is trying to get into her brother’s apartment and accidentally meets Bishop when she gets the wrong place. Bishop is resting after an injury and Stevie offers to help him out. These two were hilarious, witty and captivating to read about in this story. I recommend this book and the first book as well.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
Helena Hunting is a freaking Queen!!!
Stevie and Bishop are officially my new favs. They both so selflessly put others in front of themselves, but in the end come together because they fight for each other swoon.
Of course while being a complete amazing on the romance side it is also completely hilarious. All I have to say is Bishop’s underwear, great cat name, hilarious little brother, overprotective big brother and sassy chick with horrible pizza topping choices.
Loved loved loved this book. She truly never disappoints.
Wow! Once again Helen Hunting has given us a wonderful, funny and entertaining story with such amazing characters.
Stevie and Bishop make are one of the best couples right next to Alex and Violet and believe me i thought that would never happen.
Bishop is one of Seattle’s newest hockey players with a lot of responsibility on his shoulders taking care of his younger brother. When he’s woken up in the middle of the night by a colorful young woman trying to get into his teammates apartment he shows his growly and protective side thinking the worst of his captain. But when he’s injured and has to go through therapy he finds out that beautiful colorful woman is actually his captains sister.
Stevie is moving to a new town to hopefully to start over after having her heart broken finds that things might not be as good as she had hoped. After being insulted by the man across the hall only wearing unique underwear she feels shes off to another bad start. But when that man shows up for therapy at her new job she feels a chemistry toward him she cant explain and decides to help him get back on the ice in hopes of being able to add that to her resume.
Bishop and Stevie have one of those deep connections that you only find once in a life time but both having been hurt in the past doubt what the other is feeling or they think is feeling. The emotional trials and long road they take to get to one another will totally give you all the feels of a wild ride on a roller coaster. So buckle up and hold on for a laugh out loud, emotional and entertaining story.
When Stevie and Bishop meet, the only sparks that fly are those of intense dislike. He thinks she’s having a torrid affair with his neighbor (who happens to be his teammate and her brother), and she thinks he’s a prat.
But time heals all wounds, and soon the two are working together: Stevie becomes Bishop’s physio on the side, helping him rehab a bad groin muscle so he can double-up on therapy and hurry back to the ice.
The romance is so fun to read. Helena Hunting knows how to build all the emotions while also making you laugh. You feel Stevie’s slow crawl toward liking Bishop (and more), and you feel Bishop begin to trust her, rely on her, and care about her.
As with Helena Hunting’s books, the subplots are every bit as entertaining. One involving Stevie’s brother (Rook, whom you met in A Lie for a Lie) and Bishop kept me flipping the pages. The two don’t like each other, so you can imagine how thrilled Rook would be about his baby sister having any sort of relationship with his nemesis, much less a romance.
I just adored this book so much. I love how I care about Bishop and Stevie, and I love how Helena Hunting also helps me better understand Type-1 Diabetes, thanks to Bishop’s brother. There is magic in the way Hunting develops her characters and stories, and I am hooked.
Thanks to Ms Hunting… I LOVE HOCKEY PLAYERS! And BOSSY BISHOP is no exception. Great story… love all the chemistry between Bishop and Stevie. Even though he is bossy and self absorbed… I fell in love with Bishop! GREAT book Ms Hunting… THANKS for scratching my hockey boy loving scratch! MORE PLEASE!
Love, love, loved! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, I loved Bishop. Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors. I devoured this book and was sad when it ended.
Stevie doesn’t have the best birthday when she arrives home early finds her boyfriend with another woman in their bed. Now she is living with her hockey brother in his penthouse. She is ready for a change and wanting to make a name for herself without her brothers help.
Bishop was so easy to love. He has to stay on top of his game since he is taking care of his sick brother. He will do whatever it takes. He is trying to find his place on the team and become friends with his teammates. His hardest sell on the team is RJ .
I loved Bishop and Stevie, the way their relationship was formed. You can’t help but fall for these characters and the story Helena Hunting gives us. I loved this book and can’t recommend it enough
I have been dying to read this book since it landed on my kindle, and after a bunch of heavy books, I knew it was the perfect time to pick it up. And once I did I couldn’t put it down! As a die-hard Helena Hunting fan, I’ve become used to her quirky humor & amazing characters, and she definitely gave us both with A Favor for a Favor.
I can’t even begin to explain how much I loved Stevie & Bishop! They were such amazing, strong characters with amazing chemistry and playful banter. I don’t know what I loved more – their relationship before or after they started working together. Their dynamic was so much fun, and my only complaint is that I want even more of them!
This book was definitely a breath of fresh air. It’s a fun and easy read that kept me glued to the page and hysterically laughing. I loved absolutely everything about it (ok, maybe not the pizza toppings!) and never wanted it to end. The storyline is perfectly paced, with just the right amount of drama, and of course, Helena Hunting’s secret ingredient – Violet.
If you’re looking for a fun read to keep you smiling and your heart full this is definitely it!
Hunting delivers a fabulously hilarious slow burn that will have you laughing out loud one minute and melting into a puddle the next.
Stevie, little sister to RJ who we met in the first of this series, is having the worst birthday ever. Getting into town early to celebrate her birthday with her boyfriend, she finds him doing some celebrating of his own with someone who isn’t her. Left without a place to live, Stevie moves into her brothers empty penthouse.
Bishop is the the broody, cocky, and sexy guy next door. He is also her brothers teammate and absolutely off limits. Their first meeting had me wanting to slap him for Stevie, but as I learned more about him, Bishop had me swooning and falling hard for him.
The back and forth between these two characters kept me glued to my kindle and falling in love. I couldn’t get enough of them and love every second of their story.
Another hit in this amazing series!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)…
This is Stevie (Rook’s sister) and Bishop’s (Rook’s teammate) story.
The first time Stevie and Bishop meet is not under the best circumstances, Bishop made an assumption and was being a massive buttmole to Stevie. Now Stevie didn’t let just treat her like crap and this began the underwear wars.
I loved Stevie and Bishop together, at first they couldn’t really stand each other which was basically Bishop’s fault until some revelations are revealed. The slow build of their relationship was my favorite part, starting off enemies then working together then creating a real friendship. Bishop’s antics help Stevie out with her ex-boyfriend was both hilarious and majorly hot; he pulled out all of the tricks for his dear “friend.”
I thought it was cute when Bishop needed advice from his brother and teammate on how to approach Stevie about a relationship. I will say this, Stevie did get on my nerves a lot of the time, to me she was cool and kind, but she was also very self-involved at times and did focus on how things affected only her. Bishop was completely swoon worthy and didn’t give up, but I did feel bad for him when he felt so lost at one point.
Okay, I was surprised about how much of buttmole Rook was throughout the entire book. He was self-centered, rude, cocky and controlling which was a bit of shock since he wasn’t like that in A Lie of a Lie; although the way Rook and Stevie acted you could definitely tell they were related.
We also get to see our crazy yet lovable Violet.
All in all I did enjoy this book and I look forward to next one, perhaps Kingston?
If you know me, then you know I am a sucker for a good enemies to (friends to) lovers book. I can undoubtedly say that this one fit the bill to a T.
This book had the some great banter. Great banter. I giggled so much at the antics of Bishop and Stevie’s reactions to them. They were not only entertaining, but they added to the future sexual fire between these two characters.
The chemistry between these two is perfect. It wasn’t insta and it wasn’t super slow. It built just right. It exploded when it should have. The journey to get from start to finish with these two was one I thoroughly enjoyed.
I am all-in with this series. I am looking forward to the next set of characters. I can’t wait to see what journey Hunting takes me on next!
