One of five women who endured horrific trials to win the hand of Nicholas Cavendish, Lady Joanna Nethercutt suffered greatly throughout the ordeal, ultimately losing to Victoria Hamilton. She swiftly finds herself sold by her own father, who’s determined she’ll be of use to him yet. For a year, she’s “trained” in preparation for marriage to Victoria’s brother, with whom she’ll be expected to … produce heirs that will one day strengthen and continue the very society responsible for all of Joanna’s torment. In the space of a breath, Theodore Hamilton is thrust into a secret society he knew nothing about, and married to a woman who seems terrified of his very existence. Suddenly, his carefree yet honorable life is filled with secrets and shadows, allies and enemies, leaving Theodore unsure who to trust…starting with his broken bride. His lure to the delicate beauty is tempered by external influence, lies and manipulation from all sides. In this breathless conclusion to the Dark Sovereignty series, Theodore must decide where his loyalties lie, and race to destroy the evil men responsible for the immeasurable suffering of everyone he holds dear—including the wife he never wanted, but can’t possibly live without.

A Father’s Insistence, the third and final part of the Dark Sovereignty series by Anna Edwards is fantastic, the perfect ending for this dark romance series. I just wish it wasn’t the end.
Theo Hamilton, the son of Viscount Hamilton has been living in the dark about the society, not knowing much about it except what his father tells him. Thinking that he is saving his family and his new wife, he believes everything.
Joanna Nethercutt, the only other woman to have made it out of the trials alive, sold by her father to a monster of a man. A man that plans to use her to take control of the Oakfield Society. She goes along with the lies but will she realise that it’s wrong?
The Cavendish brothers, along with their wives are trying to steer the society in a new direction – will Theo succeed it taking them down? Or will the secrets revealed help him to change his mind?
Focussing mainly on Theo and Joanna but bringing the characters from the previous books in the series in to play as well. This is another well written part to the series, with plot twists that lead to more darkness for the characters. It ties up the story nicely and gives us a glimpse of what the future holds – is it the future you will expect? Read to find out.
Wow!! What a thrilling end to a truly fantastic dark series Anna!! I LOVE IT
Anna has bought her characters and story to life and made me excited to keep reading, I was taken in and totally captured right from the first book, it’s got better by the book the darkness and twisted parts made this a brillant read for me I am a great dark story fan, so this is a perfect and fitting end to her first dark story.
I also loved the Epilogue I thought that finished this series off beautifully.
I have gone through so many emotions and been on the edge of my seat!!
I loved every minute of it and if a book can move me to feel these emotions it tells me that the author has put their heart and soul into every sentence wrote
All I can add to this review is if you like dark reads this series is definitely for you, my love for dark reads was definitely fed.
I highly recommend this book and Author
This is the intense, twisted and darkly delightful conclusion to this series. Theo and Joanna’s story really moved me. From her suffering, to his ignorance of the situation, this lost pair were perfect for each other. There is of course, plenty of drama, suspense and emotional turmoil to grab and keep your attention. This has been an amazing series and this was a very satisfying and enjoyable way for it to end.
Fantastic conclusion to an outstanding series!
A Father’s Insistence is the dramatic ending to the dark society of depraved evil men.
The focus is on the dynamics of Theo and Joanna.
Theo is so loyal to his father he’s blinded by what everyone is telling him and the telling signs he sees but chooses to ignore.
Joanna is so scared and paranoid that she’s willing to do anything not to go back into the clutches of the Viscount.
I loved seeing how both Theo and Joanna came to trust and love one another.
How their relationship, even though based on lies, still flourished and blossomed.
Ms. Edwards just did a phenomenal job with the writing of this trilogy.
Her words kept me hooked to each book.
The plot and storyline were incredible!
It had me on the edge of my seat and my heart pounding hard.
And the characters are an unforgettable group.
Strong and courageous. Especially the women!
Enjoyed every minute of reading this book and the previous ones as well.
Anna Edwards capped off an amazing series with a book that knocked me over and wiped me out. Seriously, out of a series of books that I really loved, I think this one was the best. It totally brought everything together and Joanna’s story was just boom. I have to say, that I really liked Joanna more than I liked Theo.
Joanna was sold when Nicolas Cavendish didn’t choose her. She was bought by a man who did all manner of horrible, terrible, and disgusting things to her. Now she’s been set free by the man who bought her, so that she can marry his son and they can take over the society.
Theo believes everything his father tells him, including that Nicolas is abusing his sister Victoria and that William is abusing Tamara. Theo doesn’t believe the ladies when they tell him that he is wrong, and he sees the fact that they aren’t allowed to go to his house anymore as just one more sign that the guys are evil instead of a sign that they love their wives. Then his father presents him with Joanna and says that he has to marry her to keep her safe.
I think Theo is rather stupid. Or maybe a lot stupid. I think that he is also naive. He listens to his father and believes every word as gospel out of that man’s mouth. He didn’t believe the evidence of his own eyes, even when he sees it repeatedly. I don’t think that he thinks all that much of Victoria and Tamara to believe that they are so weakwilled.
I think that Joanna is so strong and so amazing. She survived hell and made it through the other side and came out of it relatively sane. I know that I wouldn’t have been that sane or that strong after going through what she did. That is totally impressive, if you ask me. I think that Theo should be so happy that he married her for so many reasons.
I cried at some parts, and definitely got mad at other parts, mostly at Theo’s dad and at Theo too. He kinda deserved it when I got mad at him.
Altogether, a spectacular end to a a great series.
A Fathers insistence is book 3 of the Dark Sovereignty series, and the most stunning conclusion it is! This story is Theo’s and Joanna’s but includes Nicholas and Victoria and William and Tamara. Theo is drugged and forced to marry Joanna, thinking his Father’s motives are pure But Theo thinks his Father can do no wrong. Joanna knows better, As do the other two couples, what will it take for Theo to see the evil that lurks all around him, who will die or be harmed? I must say there was an epic bit near the end! This series was AMAZING! The story and the writing was well done!
Warning there is definitely Triggers !
Oh my gosh wow …… I’m in shock !
I absolutely loved this whole amazing series …
Each book in this awesome series I have sat and read in one sitting only going to bed once I’m finished then laying awake just not being able to switch it off ….
Anna Edwards is one of my favourite authors as she keeps me on the edge of my seat just wanting more and this series is no exception ! But Anna if you read this I still think you maybe a little evil lol ….
just so everyone knows I am claiming William (I’ll share with Tamara) he’s just so cute in all three books I wish there was more people like him in this world or at least in my world
Definitely a must read ! Well done Anna on another amazing series!

Anna Edwards has ended her Dark Sovereignty series perfectly. A Father’s Insistence was a book I was eager to get my hands on and I was not disappointed at all.
Joanna and Theo have been maneuvered into the position of marriage by their fathers. One sold into a cruel society, the other oblivious to the secret world around him. But once the truth is revealed, things get intense.
This series has been one of my favorite and while I was sad to see it end, I was happy with how Anna brought everything to conclusion.
If you’re looking for a dark series full of self-righteous assholes and women that bring them to their knees, this is for you. The characters are real and their stories will captivate you until the very end.
A Father’s Insistence is a dark, twisted fantastic story that had me captivated from the first page until the last. Theo and Joanna’s story took me on an emotional ride and I loved every twist and turn along the way. This author really knows how to pull the reader into the story and gave us a perfect conclusion to the Dark Sovereignty series.
Since the beginning of this series, there were just people you want to see punish and evaserated from this earth. Just know what Joanna and the other girls have gone through is hard. I wanted these people to get their commeupence. I’m usually not into dark reads but I really did enjoy this series.
A Father’s Insistence is the final book in this series and i’m pretty sure it’s my favorite of the three stories. This book is so heart stoppingly good! we get to uncover secrets, of murder and kidnapping, lies and deceit and a trust that is broken by those you’d least expect. This book is such an eclectic whirlwind of emotions with an explosive action packed storyline.
The story is so very dark and delicious that I just couldn’t put it down. I devoured it in one go as it held me so captive right from the very start.
My heart absolutely bled for Joanna, for all the pain and suffering that she went through, for the life she was forced to live and for the love she still had to give, she was an amazing heroine. Theo is such a great hero, and even though it takes him a little while for things to fall into place for him and realise how blind he has been, he soon shows his mettle and steps up and shows them all the kind of man that he really is.
This has been a series with some really great writing and a brilliant plot. I’m sorry this series is at it’s end but it certainly has a very fitting ending in fact it’s just perfect!
Fantastic conclusion to this gripping dark series, I devoured it pretty much in one sitting, I needed to know what was going to happen!
Theo is the dutiful but caring son, who has prepared his whole life to become Viscount Hamilton, blissfully unaware of the mask hiding his monster of a father’s evil depravity. He firmly believes him to be the loving, honourable family man he has always portrayed.
Joanna has been to hell and is still living it. In the year following her being sold, she’s been through a horrific ordeal; beaten and abused, all in the name of a sick society training her to be Theo’s wife and produce the heirs to continue the corrupt and viscious Oakfield Society line. Joanna is being forced to play a cruel game, but Theo sees her fear and pain and instantly has an overwhelming need to protect her. Can she trust him or is he as bad underneath as his father? Can Theo see through the lies, betrayal and deceit and learn the truth about how evil and debased his father really is?
Anna Edward’s has created two more wonderful characters in Theo and Joanna. Theo is a loyal, caring soul, who does not carry the sins of his father on his shoulders and is desperate to save his sister Victoria and newborn niece from the power of the Cavendish brothers. Joanna has been broken body and mind, but there is a slither of hope and light left. This woman has an amazing inner strength despite her terrifying ordeal and the continued threats, even under the protection of Theo.
This book and this series has been full of suspense, twists and turns as well as moments of well timed humour. Brutal at times in it’s descriptions, it’s full of raw emotion, strength of character and a fight to the bitter end to save the women trapped in the society and turn it into something pure. I was hooked from the very first chapter and have loved the journey (as dark and unusual as it’s been), these superb characters have been through to find love and reach their hea. Loved that epilogue 🙂
I’m sad this series is over but excited for what comes next from Anna Edward’s. Five stars!!
I devoured this book! No way could I put it down, I’ve loved this series from the start but this one, it grabbed me and wouldn’t let go. Joanna and Theo…… what can I say? Joanna story is absolutely heartbreaking, my heart broke for her and I so wanted her to heal so she could move on.
I hope you take the time to read this whole series so you can fully understand what is going on and the pain these women have been through. It’s gritty, dark and will break your heart. This is a great read and the author did a fantastic job telling the story,

Just WOW this was the perfect ending and everything I could of asked for these characters are truly amazing and written to perfection with such intense scenes that will have you biting your nails and cheering all at the same time. I loved seeing the characters from the previous books but Theo was such a great character with so much heart and determination and who to believe with so many truths and lies and trying to do the right thing and be proud. Joanna is one lucky woman and so so strong these two are so full of heart even though it might be wrong but the perfect fit and Im so happy with the way the story turned out and that ending oh wow it was perfect and complete and I couldn’t ask for more
I’m going to start off by saying that I am so sad this series is over. A lot has happened over the course of 3 books and it will be added to my top 20 favorite series. With how much I read that is huge. So now on to how this book made me feel. Simply put it made me feel EVERYTHING.
Theo was everything I was eventually hoping he would be. I had my worries but he blew all of those way when he finally opened his eyes. He was good good guy just very mislead. Poor Joanna. She went through so much but in the end. After everything, she came out on top like she deserved.
This story is dark and not going to be for every reader. Lots of touchy subject matter that will make you want to weep for the characters. After all the trials that they go through, Joanna and Theo, along with the characters from the other 2 books and finally get their HEA. Like I said before, I’m so sad that it’s over but these characters deserved to finally have a happy ending. I can’t wait to see what this author write next. Hopefully more dark and twisty goodness. 5 stars #2OCCJD
What a fabulous ending to a spectacular series!
This book was filled with tension, drama, and erotic scenes. I love how everything came together in the the lives of all these characters.
I loved this series and A Father’s Insistence was a perfect finale!
This is book three in this series and my favourite. Make sure you read the previous two books as they are so good and the story is intertwined.
Book one Legacy of Succession is Nicholas and Victoria’s story. Book two Tainted Reasoning is William and Tamaras story. Now we have book three…Theo and Joannas story.
Joanna lost out to Victoria and now she’s to marry Victoria’s brother Theo. Although Joanna has been through so much she’s a real strong character.
Talk about saving the best til last. This is a really well written intense read that I absolutely loved. Brilliant characters that I couldn’t get enough of. I’m so looking forward to reading more from this author.
I absolutely loved the third book and finally in the series. This is an emotional and twisted story with a lot of suspense to keep the readers gripped and engaged in this story. Joanna‘s life has been heartbreaking and I just wanted to scoop her up and give her a hug. Theo was stubborn and hardheaded to the extreme and at some points in time I wanted to beat some sense into him. I loved Theo and Joanna as a couple and to overcome a relationship based on lies and to actually have it flourish is truly breathtaking. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next! I highly recommend this book and this whole trilogy!!!
I received an arc of A Father’s Insistence late last night and just couldn’t wait to start it. I honestly couldn’t put my kindle down until I reached ‘the end’ and the conclusion to this gripping story. This is the final installment in the trilogy and I do believe you should have read the other books before this one for continuity, plus you really don’t want to miss a page of this exciting series.
This book continues the story line of the series, however the focus is predominantly on Theo and Joanna. We already know that Nicholas and William Cavendish are trying to bring down the secret society that they were born into and since they are fighting evil, until situations arise, you never know just how strong a hold the society has in manipulating others and whether the brothers would be able to overcome it on their own. This is what I loved about the whole series – who can you trust? Who is orchestrating what? How will situations unfold? The suspense throughout kept me turning the pages on my kindle for the answers.
The characters are perfect for the story. There were scenes in the book that were hard to read because of the actions of some of the less pleasant characters in the series, and this book does come with a warning about them. Reading the final few chapters was more than I could of ever hoped for. As much as I want to say more, I really don’t want to give away any spoilers.
I must finish this review by saying please read the book – I would totally recommend it.
