Life changes in the span of a heartbeat—one tiny heartbeat.
Blake and Layla have lived through disappointment and regret, only finally finding relief through the powerful love they have for each other. A love they intend to fight to keep.
They’ve had to forgive each other, but can they truly move forward without facing the pain of the past?
Layla’s been avoiding the phone calls. Nine months … phone calls. Nine months pregnant and exhausted, she doesn’t want the complication. But she can’t run from the truth. Whoever’s calling was there eighteen years ago. Unlike her, he remembers the night that changed the course of her life, and he’s ready to confess.
Blake’s preoccupied with an email, a few simple sentences sent through cyberspace that have the capability to rob him of his sanity, his freedom, and the people he loves most in the world. When he’s called home for a mysterious reason, leaving Layla isn’t ideal, but hope for reconciliation with his father combined with his brother’s secrecy ignites a curiosity he refuses to ignore.
Putting the pain behind them is no longer an option.
To get the answers they need, they must face the past and open up old wounds that threaten to bleed them dry.

What a fantastic follow-up story to Fighting to Forgive. I really love this whole series.
In this book Blake & Layla have to face some hard truths from their past. Something that is never easy. And with Layla at full term in her pregnancy, now may not be the best time for either of them to have to deal with their past. Unfortunately, they really don’t have a choice. And sometimes, even when you think it’s the worst thing ever, dealing with the past can turn into the smartest thing you’ve ever done.
Is that the case here? You’ll just have to grab the book & see. But I will say, you’re in for a wonderful story.
Before you read this book you should really read Fighting to Forgive. Blake and Layla are awaiting the birth of their baby, but they are both keeping secrets trying to protect each other. Will they be able to resolve the things bothering them before their baby arrives?

Another great book in the Fighting series. I really enjoyed this book.
I was apprehensive at first with experiencing most follow up books as a quick novella lacking much substance. However, Salsbury did a great job bringing consistency to the previous Blake and Layla book, Fighting to Forgive, and bringing resolution to the loose ends, which provided depth and substance to the storyline.
A Father’s Fight was well written, plausible and concluded with a great story. I’m looking forward to more in this series.
This was a great continuation of the romance between Blake the snake and single mom Layla from the “Fighting series” it concludes their love story, answers a few questions and there is some hot sex in there too, narrated by two of the best narrators in the business Erin Mallon and Ryan West this is a must read.
This had all the things I’ve come to expect from this author and series. Even though this was the 2nd book that featured Blake and Layla we still got plenty of angst and tons of laughter – I cannot tell you how many times I laughed out loud – and a lot of resolution to some very personal situations for both Layla and Blake from their first book. Every couple in this series has gone through hell and has had to fight for their HEA and these two so deserved what they got at the end of this book. I hope there are plenty more books to come in this series.
This was the only story from this author I had not yet engaged in. Why? I tend to stay away from Novellas because they are too short. This one was a solid 5 star story that sucked me in and I still wanted more. Now I wonder why I never read it.
This is about Blake and Layla that were first introduced in Fighting to Forgive. It’s an added bonus to an already amazing series. Layla is pregnant with her second child and all hell breaks loose in their family.
Why was it so amazing? It was so funny. Imagine Blake, a tough alpha man going to a prenatal visit and the delivery was to die for. I laughed out loud so many times to count. Braeden, Blake’s brother goes shopping for baby stuff with Layla. He made it quite entertaining. It didn’t feel rushed, it was full of romance and some intrigues. I loved everything about this story. It was amazingly written with a great storyline.
It could actually be read as a standalone because I had read Layla and Blake’s story quite a few years ago and the details were vague. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything because the author wrote it in a way that got me up to date. It really felt like a story by itself. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story and all the others from this series.
