This is a very sweet story. Quintin has loved Esther for years and anticipated her return from India. Her welcome of him did not go as he imagined and he needs to break the barriers she has set.
This story shows the power of love and how it can bring back peace and hope to a hurting heart.

This was a wonderful, clean, regency romance. I loved Esther and Quintin and cheered for their happy ending. I have now read several of this author’s books and have enjoyed every single one of them. I look forward to more.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
L. G. Rollins’ “A Farewell Kiss: A Lockhart Sweet Regency Romance,” is a wonderful addition to the Lockhart series! I loved reading Quintin’s story especially after all the hints in previous books about the way he felt for Esther. I loved their friendship and seeing their deeper feelings develop more fully in this lovely sweet and clean love story. I really enjoyed the beautiful ending and the way they overcame their own respective hardships. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!
4.5* The slow burn of this childhood friends to lovers story makes their conclusion sweet. There is a little bit of a mystery of why they are still apart that is gradually revealed through the beginning of the story. Wonderful characters, good writing, and a wonderful message.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Another great book, this one showing just how much one decision can change the rest of your life and how you see yourself. A very touching book about forgiveness and love.
I enjoyed this sweet romance and the way it made my heart sigh. Lord Quintin and Lady Esther were the best of friends as kids, but then they grew up and life intervened. Quintin is eager to show her his love, but because of a past mistake, Esther feels she is undeserving of love. Will Ester ever forgive herself or will they both suffer? This story is about love, family, society, mistakes, courting, estates, servants, romance, and the rocky but wonderful path to love.
This is part of a series but I think you could read this as a stand alone and still enjoy it fully. I’ve read each book of the series. L.G. Rollins has gotten stronger as a Regency author with each title. I enjoyed the story from cover to cover. I loved the H. I think the way the author wrote & handled the problems that kept the h & H apart was written well and creatively. As well as the resolution. I was able to empathize and feel each emotion the author was conveying through the characters. I liked the secondary characters & felt they added & rounded out the story nicely. with each title. Lord Quintin Lockhart has been given an unentailed estate. It needs some work, actually a lot of work.
It was a gift from his father. He was the third son and had no prospects. He was also waiting for his girl to come home from India. He wanted Cottonhold ready for a wife.
Lady Esther Collingwood had gone to India with her family. Her uncle was very ill. She had been away from England for at least two years. Now she was back and she was early. At each event, she looked for him but hadn’t seen him yet. They had grown up together and were inseparable.
So many things are going on like the problems with the sheep and the crops failing, to just mention a few. This is a very entertaining story. It has a good mix, of emotions. The characters are engaging and trying to figure out what Esther is doing makes it interesting. The descriptions of what is going on around them are amazing. I have enjoyed every moment of this book. I am so glad I made the time to read it. I highly recommend it.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
I love this series! This is the fourth book in the Lockhart series and while it can be read as a standalone I would recommend reading the others in the series first for a little bit more background on the characters. There is a lot of healing and growth that occurs for several of the characters in this book. Quinton and Ester and even Esther’s father and Lieutenant Fallow experience a change. I am glad that we get see a glimpse into Lieutenant Fallow’s life after India. I loved the scene at the end with the book and the willow tree! Overall this was a sweet and enjoyable read! I am excited for Venetia’s story!
I have been looking forward to reading Quentin’s story as much has been made of his love of Lady Esther in the earlier books of this series. I found the story slow to start but had a satisfying end. I have enjoyed this series as I love regency books but these ones have a twist along the way that have made them more interesting and unpredictable. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
I received a copy of this book from the Author, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Quintin is the third son in the Lockhart family and his father gave him an estate that he could run that would be separate from his brothers holding. Unfortunately, the estate was mismanaged for years before Quintin took it over and as a result, he has been barely turning a profit, which is better than the state it was in when he took it over 4 years ago. Which is not the best place to be in when you want to ask for the hand of your childhood sweetheart.
One thing that I have realized is that the Lockhart boys have a tendency to find women that are wonderful and smart and very underappreciated by their families. Which makes me adore them even more. Quintin is my favorite out of all of the Lockhart siblings and has been since he first made his appearance. There is just something about him that makes my heart melt. He is sweet with such a kind heart and from the first book he has not wavered in his devotion to Esther. Even though she has been away with her family in India for the last two years. Quintin’s goal has been to make a place that she would be happy to call home.
As much as this story is about Quintin it is also about Esther discovering that we are not the sum of our bad judgment. This is a story about self-forgiveness and healing. In a lot of ways, this is a story that I know a lot of us need at times. We can be our own worst enemy, but never are we too far gone that we can not be forgiven, but we have to learn to forgive ourselves first.
Not only is this book meaningful but it made me feel all the feelings I loved it. I could not put it down and I finished it in one day.
There is one more sibling to go and I can not wait to get her story!
It may state can be a stand alone, but I would suggest and wished I’d read the first in the series, what is wrong with Venetia n her health issues? A little more background on the characters would’ve been helpful for me.
I really enjoyed the characters for the most part, n I loved how Esther’s dad realized his error and owned up to it. Quentin makes me laugh when he talks about fairytales, I think it’s great! And my fav characters are Will n Joan, so cute n I’m happy for them.
This was an enjoyable read. I liked the main characters in the story. I liked that Quintin was willing to humble himself enough to ask for help so he could have success in farming and loved his kind heart in helping his tenants. And I liked that Esther tried to right the wrong she did even if her guilt over it was maybe taken a bit too far. I loved the ongoing theme of their storytelling through life. The story told when they met up under the tree was a very sweet way to reconcile. I also liked that even as a secondary character, Esther’s father grew as well and was able to admit when he was wrong. That was also a sweet moment.
No sex, language or violence

SETTING: Wonderfully warm story of a young couple who have loved each other since childhood, separated by life’s events, slowly overcoming obstacles in order to make their dreams come true.
Our Hero, Lord Quinton Lockhart, is hard-working and true to his good values, even when living up to them comes at a cost to himself. Our heroine, Lady Esther Collingwood, makes a mistake, and finally faces up to it by confessing and apologizing to the woman she feels she wronged. The story rings true, and imparts thoughtful life lessons: a mistake does not redefine a person, unless that path is continued. Correcting a mistake helps re-establish in your own eyes the kind of person you are and intend to be in the future. Both set wonderful examples of how people of honor act and overcome their own failings. All of this wrapped up in a tender love story with a happy ending.
So far I I have loved this series and this book was no exception. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. I ended up staying up till 4 A.M. to finish it.
There was so much chemistry and tension between the two main characters- each interaction was so innocently romantic. I couldn’t wait till they got their happy ever after. The characters were so likable and their conflicts were believable. Now I can’t wait to hear Venetias story.
I have thoroughly been enjoying this series. This might be my favourite of the series yet! Quintin’s character was introduced to us in the previous books with a bit more of an appearance in Cassandra’s story, so I definitely recommend reading the books prior to this one. There are a few references to passed conversations that will add more depth and understanding to this story if you have already read it. Plus a better understanding of Quintin’s character itself. I really love his character/personality.
Esther’s character is one that mentioned briefly in the other stories as well but we only really meet her/get to know her properly in this story. Hers is an interesting character to develop. There are a lot of conflicting emotions within this young lady. I think a lot of us will be able to empathise with her struggles to live up to her full potential and other people’s expectations (real or imagined) and the negative emotion that results when we seem to fail. I thought this was very well done but if I go into my opinion of it to much more I fear I’ll be giving away spoilers.
Suffice to say that I wasn’t disappointed and I also would quite happily read further stories relating to supporting characters from this book.
This is a clean and wholesome read. I received an ARC copy but am under no obligation to leave a review.
L. G. Rollins has given us a story with humor, romance, miscommunications, good intentions but bad actions and a story line that will keep you reading to find out what they will do next. Esther and Quintin come close to being star-crossed lovers. I really enjoyed this book.
Another wonderful addition to the Lockhart series! I was intrigued by Quintin’s character from previous books and was anxious to read his story. He and Esther have been friends since childhood but were separated for two year while she traveled to India. Both were hoping for something more between them when she returned but well, life happens and certain things got in the way. As they try to navigate their situation, I loved their friendship, their trust in each other, and their desire to make things right.
The resolution in the last few chapters is honestly one of the most romantic things I have ever read in a regency romance. I seriously had heart flutters! The rest of the book was really good, but the ending bumped it up to a solid five stars for me. Can’t wait to read Venetia’s story next!
I received a complimentary copy from the author but my opinions are my own.
A Farewell Kiss is another beautifully written addition to the Lockhart series by L.G. Rollins. I have truly loved this series and was so excited to read Quintin’s story. His character is so genuine and I love the man that he is revealed to be in this story.
Lady Esther has finally returned home from a trip to India and Quintin, her childhood best friend, is excited to court her as he promised. The plan is simple, too bad Esther has seemingly had a change of mind, but Quintin is determined to find out her heart. It was fun to read the determination they both have in doing what they believe is right for each other. The chemistry and depth of their friendship is super apparent and you definitely feel the love they have for each other.
This book can be read as a standalone, but it’s a bit more fun knowing the stories that came prior. It’s clean, but definitely swoony, and has a lot of heart. I highly recommend it and look forward to what the author writes next.
