In book two of the Michal’s Destiny series, Tavvi and Michal have problems in the beginning of their relationship, but they build a life together. Each stone is laid carefully with love and mutual understanding. They now have a family with two beautiful daughters and a home full of happiness. It is now 1938—Kristallnacht. Blood runs like a river on the streets, shattered glass covers the walkways … walkways of Jewish shop owners, and gangs of Nazi thugs charge though Berlin in a murderous rage. When Tavvi, the strong-willed Jewish carpenter, races outside, without thinking of his own welfare, to save his daughters fiancée, little does his wife Michal know that she might never hold him in her arms again. In an instant, all the stones they laid together come crashing down leaving them with nothing but the hope of finding each other again.

Part of the “Michel Dynasty” novels. Interesting and haunting and unfathomable what evil can do.
Just finished the second book of the series cant wait to read the next two. The characters are so real and feel so drawn into their story. It is not a live happily ever after book, it is very realistic and feel it was based on actual people. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves historical fiction.
Great story
A historical novel that gives insight into what the people of the Holocaust endured. We can find the cold, hard facts anywhere, but reading about individual’s feelings and emotions as they lived through these atrocities gives us a view of the inside of humanity.
Excellant second book in the Michal’s Destiny by Robert Kagan! Her characters are always so well developed and the story continues from where you left off in book one. She does give you some “history” along the way so that you can enjoy the story even if you didn’t read the first book….but it makes it so much more interesting if you read them in order. By the time you have finished, you we will ready to jump into the next in the series…Highly recommend!
A beautiful story… Roberta brings out the good the bad and the ugly of the human nature … one feels ashed and shocked at our capacity for evil yet silenced by the capacity for good too… one wonders at the capacity of the human for sorrow, for pain for joy …how much can one take in a life time… ? Thanks for Roberta.
Great book about the life of Jews during World War II. Very moving and full of emotional turmoil. While it is difficult to imagine living through that era, this book takes you right there and allows you to experience some of the difficulties. What a story!
Well written.
This book was well written. The story itself breaks your heart and makes you rethink your own life. It is hard to read but necessary so that we never forget the hatred of one man.
I have read the first 2 books of the series. It was a tragic tale of the holocaust in Grrmany a d the plight of Jews around the world. Worth reading so we never forget the power of hate.
This is a ‘must read’! The Holocaust did happen. This set of books follows a family and their friends from the Cossack massacres of the Russian Revolution through World War II.
The author revealed some of the true costs of Hitler’s plan for society and the world. Presents it from a unique viewpoint that of several families affected by the persecution of anyone who did not support Hitler and the progrom directed against the Jews by both many Europeans (Russian, German, Polish, etc.).
It is a tragic story, but it will hold your interest. What they did to the Jews was a very sad tale.
I love to read historical books – while this one is sad, it is very well written
Great character development; more true-to-life than many of this genre. Bad things happen and people learn to live on.
I always think that even books in a series ought to be stand alone, The Pillars of the earth is a good example, it is a great book when you add in the 2nd book it becomes even greater because the story continues but if I only ever read the first book then it is still one of the best I have ever read. I read several authors , that although all their books form a series they each stand on their own as a great book
I find the stories of the persecuted people of the Europe a constant reminder of how fortunate I am to have lived in America. The fortitude of many of these unfortunates is amazing and heartbreaking.
Heartbreaking.
I was disappointed. Follows story and I guess I get what the author’s doing, but it seems more like a series of unfortunate events. There seems to be no good, just horrible upon horrible, with lots of sex. Not my thing.
Although the historical details were carefully researched the story was awkward and unsatisfactory.
