Heartache. Betrayal. Forgiveness. Redemption… It’s time to head back to Magdalena, New York, and spend a little time with the people we love to love and even a few we love to hate.
Roman Ventori isn’t looking for a wife. He’s had one of those and it ended badly. He’s come back to Magdalena out of duty, not love for the town that drove him away with rumors and judgments.
Angie Sorrento is in …
Angie Sorrento is in Magdalena to do a job, not find a husband. She almost had one of those, until he dumped her days before the wedding.
Roman’s father has health problems and his last wish is to see his son settled with a wife, a child, a second chance at a life that doesn’t include city life and flashy women. There’s only one person in town who can make the impossible happen. Angelo “Pop” Benito, the Godfather of Magdalena, is the wiliest matchmaker in the Catskills and if he sets his mind to it, an old man might see his wish come true.
Oh, and remember Gloria Blacksworth’s notebook, the one filled with enough destruction to bring down Magdalena? Well, it’s causing trouble again, and this time the target is Miriam Desantro… Pop’s going to try to intervene, but he might be too late…

Enjoyable read. Believable characters as seen by an Italian!
I really enjoyed reading this story and was pleased with the ending although for me it was a little abrupt…..just wish the last few pages would have been more drawn out.
I like this author. She writes for a hopeless romantic like me.
Interesting series of books. I had read another book by this author. Full of family and the love of family.
I’m hooked on the series! Can’t wait to read the next one! I’m all for the HEA and just how they get there keeps me guessing.
Once I started reading I didn’t want to put t down.
The plot was intriguing. The author painted two very different worlds that made the main character’s choice clear to the reader. The writing made this a page turning ride for me.
Enjoyed, great book!
Great story
Love, love this author
I found this book to be an enjoyable read. The characters weren’t the usual small-town folks, nor was their attitude. Several characters had experienced difficult times and it was an interesting plot to see how/if issues got resolved.
Charming and entertaining.
A bit unusual. An easy read even though storyline is a bit contrived. Predictable ending, but still, a nice diversion.
Great reading while waiting on others.
This was the first Mary Campisi book that I read. It, of course, led to the second, and I’m sure to many more. I enjoyed the characters in the book.
Sex too despriptive not necessary didn’t add to the story
I was left satisfied You want to sometimes just shake the characters So. Few. People have common sense and. Few are willing to take a chance .small town. Have So few secrets and. Many busybodies .but. Many in their own way care. About each other !
This book is about family secrets and how we can learn from finding the truth and embracing the results.. very interesting characters.
This was a very good book. It did kind of catch you off-guard. I do recommend it go anyone who likes surprises.
