Six years ago, to the outrage of her family and the delight of London gossips, Lady Helen Dehaven refused to marry the man to whom she was betrothed. Even more shockingly, her refusal came on the heels of her scandalous behavior: she and her betrothed were caught in a most compromising position. Leaving her reputation in tatters and her motivations a mystery, Helen withdrew to a simple life in a … a little village among friends, where her secrets remained hers alone.
For reasons of his own, Stephen Hampton, Lord Summerdale, is determined to learn the truth behind the tangled tale of Helen’s ruin. There is nothing he abhors so much as scandal – nothing he prizes so well as discretion – and so he is shocked to find, when he tracks Helen down, that he cannot but admire her. Against all expectations, he finds himself forgiving her scandalous history in favor of only being near her.
But the bitter past will not relinquish Helen’s heart so easily. How can she trust a man so steeped in the culture of high society, who conceals so much? And how can he, so devoted to the appearance of propriety, ever love a fallen lady?
Editorial Reviews
”A Fallen Lady is a gently moving story in which there is no overarching plot or major action; the romance IS the story and it’s by turns funny, tender and incredibly poignant… A compelling and beautifully written story about characters I came to genuinely care about.” – All About Romance
“For readers who enjoy a cathartic, emotional read.” – Dear Author

Enjoyed this book very much, story was very well written, had surprises, went just a little long.
Nicely written, the author doesn’t fall into cliches as could have been possible with this premise.
The trend for incredibly stubborn heroines who are their own worst enemies continues in this book. While there are some interesting characters, the heroine becomes tedious in her wounded pride.
Just couldn’t get into it. Everything felt forced and like there was some massive secret but you already figure it out early on. Sorry, just not for me.
Loved the characters. The plot was great. The writing was very well done.
loved it

Enjoyed this read
The book is is above average as far as author’s fundamental writing skills which is rare in many if not most e-books. Story is tragic and believable. Could not put it down!
In many ways, this book is typical of its genre and yet it deals with rape and betrayal with a sensitivity and authenticity that not many books do. It’s not perfect and it’s not literary fiction, but for formula fiction, this treatment of the topic is beyond excellent.
Loved the characters and their vulnerability. Good, easy read
I immensely enjoyed reading it, different from most ‘romances’ in spite of happy ending. It slowly unfolds the extent of living with PTSD, trauma, in a very skillful way until resolution. Well written, keeping you engaged to the end.
I really enjoyed this read. Finished it in s nite!
Their love was a struggle – but a good story!
Well done historical romance. Interesting characters and plotline.
