She was born to lead London Society. He could not leave it fast enough. With a few well-placed words in the right ear, Anna Tunstall can direct anyone to do her bidding, exactly the skill needed for one destined to be the wife of a man in politics. A summer visit to a friend’s country estate is the perfect distraction before the London Season begins and Anna can achieve her ambition of a perfect … achieve her ambition of a perfect match.
Harry Aston has spurned the noble aspirations of his family to enter holy orders where he might make a difference in people’s lives. His mother’s untiring attempts to find him a wife worthy—and wealthy—enough to suit him only serve to set up his back. He has never been in love, and she should not think that suitable wives dropped down from heaven, especially not in the village of Avebury.
When Harry finds Anna unconscious on the road, and she awakens in his arms, his world shifts at her gaze. But before he can think that heaven has come through at last, he must convince Anna that her prolonged stay in Avebury is not fate’s way of toying with her, but rather opening her eyes to a new direction for her ambitions—and her heart.

I really liked how this story has an overarching theme of challenging our preconceived notions of what we think would make us happy. I am really enjoying this series of sweet regency romances!
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a Regency Romance so true to the period, so it was with dawning delight I settled down to read this engaging tale told with the restraint of the period. There was just enough push and pull to the growing relationship between Harry and Anna to reward the restraint. If you are a fan like me of period accuracy, this one’s for you.
I really enjoyed this story. It’s a great one to realize we are all worthy to overcome bad habits, bad choices, and unwise judgment-That we are all able to love and be loved. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator.

Such well written characters that draw you into the story from the start.
The plot has several twists and turns and enough mystery with romance to tempt any reader. The author writes so well I could “see” both people and places as I read.
Both Anna and Harry are characters that have personality that jump off the page.
This “sequel “ to the book “A Regrettable Proposal “ is a stand alone story but I highly recommend reading the first as it adds an added depth to the characters.
I enjoyed both books immensely and I am sorry they were finished.
I look forward to reading more of these characters as Phoebe needs her story told.
Loved the story of Anna and Harry in this Regency Romance filled with surprises and a bit of mystery. Anna made her first appearance in the author’s last book, A Regrettable Proposal, as the spunky sister of Stratford, the Earl of Worthing. After meeting Anna in the last book, it was fun to follow along as she follows her heart and determines what she really wants. Highly recommend, especially to those that love period romance novels!
Sit back and enjoy this wonderful clean Regency from Jennie Goutet which not only highlights a budding romance between two seemingly unlike characters, but also provides significant secondary storylines among several supporting characters. While I initially found Anna’s personality to be a bit off-putting, it was quite heartening to see how her character developed from the beginning to the end of the story. And Harry—although by no means perfect as he wrestled with some long standing family issues, was such a thoughtful and gallant hero! Throw into the mix some interesting twists and turns and you will feel a range of emotions as the story unfolds. Definitely recommend this book and this author!
This clean and sweet regency romance was amazing.
This is the first book I’ve read by Jennie Goutet, and it will definitely not be my last. Everything is on point here: The village setting; the details about the homes that make it a true regency story; the descriptions of the parties and dancing; and the snappy dialogue between the characters.
Anna and Harry are the couple that give this story its heart. Anna Tunstall is strong, determined, loyal, and compassionate. She has always thought that she’d marry a wealthy man with political ambitions, and combined with her skills in society matters, they would accomplish a great deal of good. But as she visits a friend in a country village, she finds that the rector, Harry Aston, has a strong hold on her heart. Anna’s torn between the society life she’s always thought she wanted, and the quieter life she would have in this village of Avebury. The storyline follows Anna as she determines the truth of her heart. Harry is an unusual regency hero. He loves his calling to minister to the citizens of Avebury and has found a life he loves in the village. It was fun following both Harry and Anna as they tried to decide if they belonged together. There’s also two small mysteries that run throughout the storyline, and I loved how it all tied together at the end.
If you are a fan of clean regency fiction, don’t hesitate to read this one. I’m going to be looking for other books by this author.
I don’t know if it’s because I started reading A Faithful Proposal right after A Regrettable Proposal or something else, but this book didn’t grip me as firmly as the first one did. Still, this doesn’t mean that the story lacked any of the sweet romance or even mystery that Ms. Goutet has already gotten us used to. I loved getting to know Mr. Harry Aston, rector of Avebury, and how he revealed himself to have virtues as well as flaws, just as any human being. As for Miss Anna Tunstall, I think it took me a bit to warm up to her, but I still liked to see her growth throughout the book, and how in the end they were perfectly suited for each other. A perfect continuation of the series, and a great read for fans of this genre. Completely recommended 🙂
A Faithful Proposal (Memorable Proposals 2) was a fun romance to read. I enjoyed Harry and Anna’s characters. I didn’t always agree with the side characters’ views of Anna, but as a reader I could learn about her feelings, thoughts and fears whereas the other characters didn’t have the view. The story is a fast, fun read. I felt like the author did a good job with the pacing of the action and dramatic turning points. I would suggest reading the first book first, A Regrettable Proposal. Some of the actions, characters and story line mention events from the first book and I think it would be confusing to the reader to read the books out of order.
Please note that I received a free e-copy to review, however, this is my honest opinion.
A Faithful Proposal was an unusual sequel in that it was not necessary to have read the first book (A Regrettable Proposal) in order to thoroughly enjoy it but having read it adds a bit of background. The main character, Anna Tunstall, was minor yet intriguing character from the first book and being able to see her character develop in this story made for a fun fast read. Anna, Emily, and Harry all have emotional journeys throughout the book that built connections to the characters and made me want to read more to know what would happen to them. The clean romance in the Regency setting allows for love to bloom and obstacles to occur so naturally. I read the book aloud to my 2 week old to share with her my love of a great story flow without worrying that we might encounter anything inappropriate. I can’t wait for more from this series of proposal books by Jennie Goutet!
I loved the whole story. I appreciate Jennie goutet writing a true romance while keeping it clean. I wouldn’t mind a spin off story of the vicar’s brother. A redemption story perhaps? The h has a twin & I welcome that story as well! The h & H were written as relatable and genuine. Their affection real & believable. I was right along with the h trying to decide which path to take. There was a bit of a mystery to the story. I thought it was a nice addition, added to the story and helped move the plot. I throughly enjoy the author’s turn of phrase and reminiscent of my Georgette heyer readings.
This sweet Regency romance centers on Anna who thrives on the activity of society life in London but is forced to reevaluate her priorities when, during an extended trip to the country, she finds herself attracted to the local rector. Of course there are complications along the way, and I enjoyed the journey. Both Anna and Harry felt like real, multi-faceted people, and I liked them both.
This could totally work as a stand alone, despite being the second book in the series, but I highly recommend picking up the first book too. I was happy to see the return of characters I’d already met and cared about, and I hope there will be another story featuring Phoebe.
What a wonderful book! With highwaymen, disguised identities, and sweet reunions what’s not to love! I loved the characters in this book. Anna had such spunk and Harry was such a fun rector! I loved how Anna had to change her view of the world to finally allow her to love the perfect man for her and I loved how Harry had to get over his past to take a chance on the woman he loves. I loved the first book in this series and this book was great! I’m looking forward to reading more books by Jennie!
I had an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Jennie did a great job writing this book. Her characters are interesting and very believable. The plot and the subplots all come together to keep you reading. A great Regency era book.
Jennie Goutet’s follow-up to A Regrettable Proposal follows Stratford’s sister Anna Tunstall on a visit to the country. While city mouse Anna is expecting gossip and picnics and a quiet retreat with a dear friend, life has some surprises in store for her.
Love, faith, and village life intertwine with a little danger and London intrigue to draw Anna into the Avebury community and closer to its enigmatic rector, Harry Aston.
Lovers of chaste Regency romance with characters reminiscent of Georgette Heyer’s will love accompanying Anna to Avebury and her heart’s home. As I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of A Faithful Proposal, now I can look forward to Anna’s twin, Phoebe’s, story!
Despite his high ranking position by birth, Harry Aston wishes to serve his fellow man in the best possible way, much against his family’s wishes. Anna Tunstall, on the other hand, is only too happy to play her part in society and is looking for the perfect husband where her influence can be of most benefit. Visiting her friend in the country was supposed to be a short-term affair, but circumstances conspire against her. The story is sweet and clean, but also suspenseful as an attack against Anna is investigated. The romance that brews between Anna and Harry is short-circuited by his rogue brother, and Harry makes too many assumptions. Nevertheless, the book comes to a happy conclusion as all the loose ends come together. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A good love story with love, miss understanding, mystery and family all intertwined together.
Mr. Aston is my favorite kind of hero––quiet strength, gentle in actions, but still a determined protector that goes what he’s after.
Miss Tunstall was a bit shallow to start, but it wasn’t long before she herself saw that.
Their friendship and romance was fun to watch… and then secrets and misunderstandings crop up.
Oh dear… will one be left with a broken heart?
