Next in the Odds Are Good series, A Fairbanks Affair did not disappoint.
Trevor is a businessman owning a distillery in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was blindsided by betrayal in a way the left him untrusting and alone for a long time. He places an ad in The Odds Are Good magazine for female companionship stating one weekend only over New Years and most definitely no love involved.
Faye lost her parents at the age of 21 leaving her to run their alcohol import/export business and raise her little sister. Faye handles the business very well but she forgot to have a personal life along the way. Even her relationship with her little sister is not what it should be. Funny enough, at a dentist’s appointment she finds Trevor’s ad and decides this is what she is going to take for herself. No strings, no love and she will finally rid herself of her V Card!!
This story may seem like you’ve read it before but trust me in that you haven’t. Faye has to ability to get Trevor to see things from a different view and that helps him realize the love that hurt him wasn’t exactly what he thought it was. And Faye, well she needed someone willing to give her a chance, to show her how to live her life and that it is ok to have something for yourself and still be successful in business.
Trevor opens Faye up to so many possibilities giving Faye an understanding of how much she has missed. Because of this, her relationship with Harry flourishes and it’s just so sweet to see how it unfolds.
There are so many nuances to this story and it’s just too perfect to spoil. An anonymous weekend date, a chance meeting, VODKA – !!!!
When Faye decides to answer a personal ad and spend New Year’s Eve with an Alaskan stranger, she never expects it to change her life. Nor does she expect to be completely attracted to the grumpy guy who insults her the first night she is in town. Trevor had a horrible year. Heart broken and bitter, he’s drawn to the gorgeous woman he meets on Christmas Eve but is inexplicably rude to her when she suggests a date. The workaholic CEO and a depressed distiller don’t seem like they could be a good bet for a forever relationship but these two just might be destined for more than a Fairbanks affair.
I absolutely adore this series and A Fairbanks Affair was my favorite so far! I loved how no-nonsense Faye had a softer, fun side and I loved grumpy Trevor completely falling for Faye. A very fun Christmas story that I would be happy to read any time of the year.
***4.5 stars***
A Fairbanks Affair is the third book in the Odds are Good Series by Katy Regnery. I have had the pleasure of reading two of the three and have thoroughly enjoyed both. I love the premise of the couple finding each other via personal adds in the Alaskan-based magazine, Odds are Good.
Trevor Starling and Faye Findley are two people who have much in common. They are both successful business people in the alcoholic beverage industry. Neither wants to be alone during the Holiday Season. Both have unresolved family relationship issues.
One well-placed personal ad in a popular Alaskan Magazine brings these two lonely hearts together and begins the most delightful holiday romance I have read in a long while.
I enjoyed the interaction and banter between Trevor and Faye. They are both strong and spirited people who are used to making things happen. What occurs when these two collide is pure magic.
Katy Regnery has a way of combining just the right amount of serendipity with real emotion to make her stories a pure pleasure to read. A Fairbanks Affair is no exception. Her addition of a cast of fascinating supporting characters makes this book a must read.
A Fairbanks Affair had me laughing, swooning, and enjoying every moment I spent between its covers. I am looking forward to the next installment in this five book series of stand-alone romances.
What a great book by Katy Regnery. I loved Faye and Trevor’s story. This book had great supporting characters and a storyline I could not stop reading.
Faye is the CEO and Trevor owns his own distillery in Alaska, he places an ad Odds are Good and she replies. How they get to happily ever after is a great story where both characters grow for themselves and each other and those in their life.
I love these Odds are Good books. It is a great read!
I really liked this series, something about the Alaskan setting and the “answers an ad” genre just seem to make for a great story. Faye the 30-year-old virgin answers an ad looking to change her status (not find her HEA) gets more than she bargained for when she meets Trevor Starling. A unexpected ad leads to more than just a one and one weekend agreement. Sweet, steamy and fun to read this book is a definite winner. Add it to your TBR list now.
This book was so cute and sweet! Faye has spent years maintaining her family business and little time for herself. She finds herself alone at the holidays and a unique experience in front of her, which lead her to Alaska. Trevor has had his heart beaten and broken and finds himself alone. He’s certainly not looking for anything serious or permanent. However, when he meets Faye, he finds himself attracted to her and they have a connection. I REALLY enjoyed the chemistry between this couple and the realness. While they have chemistry, this book also had a delicious slow burn. I loved how sweet Trevor was and how he took care of Faye. This was a fun book to get lost in. Be sure to grab your copy today!
4.5 Stars!
I am not a fan of Insta-Love, but this book was an example of it done right. The budding relationship between Faye and Trevor was sweet and endearing, making the planned encounter between Mr Fairbanks and Faith almost unbearable. The unexpected “twist” added just the right touch to put this Insta-Love on simmer and that’s where you see amazing character growth for Faye & Trevor. I was relieved that there wasn’t a whole lot of angst, just enough to make it interesting.
This one left me wanting my own private Vodka tasting…..
Faye has dedicated her life to work since takeing over the family business. Shes been so busy that she still has her v-card and shes 30. Looking at a magazine article in the dentist off she thinks it may be a good idea to answer. With no one to spend the holidays with why not spend a weekend in Alaska with a stranger you can loose your v-card to and never see again…….. trevor why hurt in the worst way when he finds his brother with women he loves the night before the wedding. Now he spends his day in the office of his distillery lonely and grumpy. Trevor deciwhat he need is a weekend with no strings attached sex so he played a add in a magazine……with chance meetings and fake names this book and amazing and the characters chemistry is iff the charts. I could not put is down and recommend to all my book friends
5 Star Review A Fairbanks Affair (Odds-Are-Good #3) by Katy Regnery
Having read several books from Katy Regnery, I couldn’t wait to read this one. This was one of those books that grabbed me from the start and never let me go; what a terrific read A Fairbanks Affair was. I love any story that is centred on Christmas and this story will get you in the mood for the festive season.
I fell hard and fast for Trevor, there was just something about him that ticked all the boxes for me and then some. My heart went out to both Trevor and Faye with all they have been through and I was cheering for these two to get together and get the happily ever after they both so richly deserve.
Having been badly burned recently, Trevor has no intention of every letting his heart become involved again, in fact all he wants is a weekend of fun with no strings attached. When Faye answers his personal add she has no idea how her life is about to change.
The chemistry between Trevor and Fayer was instant smoking hot and the will they, won’t they, had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the characters, both separately and especially together.
As I have come to expect from a book by Katy Regnery, the writing was outstanding, the banter was fun and the characters were easy to relate too and realistic. This was a beautifully written, heartwarming story and all in all this made for a great read that I highly recommend.
I just loved A Fairbanks Affair. The story has a few of my guilty pleasures like insta-love, a hero who is a bit of a jerk but falls hard and redeems himself, plus it takes place during the holiday season.
“…unlacing our fingers but still holding her hand. “I am not smooth. I am sometimes an a$$h@le, yes, but I promise you, I don’t mean to be.”
After catching his fiancé in bed with his brother, Trevor Starling is not finding it easy to trust and isn’t in any hurry to get back into dating. He places an ad in Odds-Are-Good magazine looking for a no strings attached, discreet affair.
Faye Findley answers the ad hoping to discreetly lose her pesky v-card. But fate has other ideas for this pair.
A Fairbanks Affair is the third standalone story in the Odds-Are-Good series. I’m really loving this Alaska based series of stories.
-5 Stars!-
A Fairbanks Affair is the third book in Katy Regnery’s Odds-Are-Good series and this is my favorite one yet!
I absolutely love a good holiday romance and this story is all that and more.
A personal ad set everything into motion but an coincidental in person meeting was the real start of their relationship.
Trevor was broken hearted and looking for someone to spend New Years with and when Faye answered his ad under the name Faith he was drawn immediately to her photo and the note she wrote in response to his ad. Faye has kept a secret for a while. She has never been with a man and this opportunity combined with a business trip was something she couldn’t pass up. When ‘T’ meets Faye at the bar neither knows each other’s true identity but they had an immediate connection and chemistry and those were perks neither could pass up.
This was a fun story to read and I loved Faye and Trevor together right from the beginning and thoroughly enjoyed their journey to a happily ever after!
A Fairbanks Affair by Katy Regnery is akin to a sweet and sexy Hallmark Movie… it was the perfect escape read for cold winter Saturday.
The story of Faye and Trevor is sweet, sexy and slightly tumultuous. There are beautiful twist and turns within the pages of A Fairbanks Affair. The story left me feeling warm, with a smile on my face.
Ms. Regnery had once again crafted a beautiful story of love, loss and second chances. I felt a connection to Faye almost immediately; the way Ms. Regnery writes allows me to feel what each character feels, it allows me to close my eyes and feel like I am at Starling Farm, it allows me to loose myself within the pages of book for a short period of time.
The story of Faye and Trevor is utterly beautiful… their paths to love are not easy roads but full of heartbreak and loss. I wish I could have spent more time within their world… I want more of their families… more of Bas and Harry, more of Trevor’s hippie parents.
The only complaint I have is I wish we could have been at the Twelfth Night Party… I understand why we couldn’t be there but oh if Starling Farms could.
Cheers to another beautiful Alaskian story to Katy Regnery and A Fairbanks Affair.
A sweet, fun, will they or won’t they, that mixes in some heartache, feel good holiday story. The story takes place over a fairly short period of time, but it doesn’t feel rushed. The character connection between Faye and Trevor is almost immediate, even if there are a couple of misunderstandings that need to be overcome. Copious amounts of alcohol are consumed, a little bird spills the beans, an apology is issued and that’s only the first night. The rest of the story flows smoothly and at a good pace, it definitely keeps you turning the pages.
With humorous dialogue, heartwarming moments and predictably, irresistible characters, the odds are readers will LOVE, A Fairbanks Affair. Regnery always delivers the goods when it comes to deliciously, tempting storytelling. Faye and Trevor are love at it’s best at the worst possible time. She needs a favor. He needs a reason to hope. Two strangers that fell upon something more are waiting to steal away with your heart. And believe me, THEY WILL.
My heart is smiling! A Fairbanks Affair (Odds-Are-Good #3) written by the wonderful romance author Katy Regnery will make you completely fall in love!
When Faye, a 30 year old workaholic business owner answers an ad for a “zero chance of love” New Year’s weekend in Fairbanks, she figures it would be a great way to lose her virginity…
Three nights.
Two of us.
One hotel room.
Zero chance of love…
After being burned by his now-ex on the eve of his wedding, Trevor decides it’s time to stop literally “taking matters into his own hands”, and places an ad in The Odds Are Good magazine, hoping for a fantastic New Year’s weekend.
Fate has its way of throwing twists into plans though…especially when it comes to Golden Buddha.
This wonderful Fairbanks, Alaska romance is hot enough to melt a glacier! The banter, the heat, the strength of the characters…it is all so wonderful! I love the writer’s technique, descriptions, and storyline! The family dynamic, characters, and the backstory is fantastic and I absolutely loved this book from page one through the epilogue! 5 stars!
A Fairbanks Affair is the third book in the ‘Odds Are Good’ series of standalone novels set in the wonderful, amazing state of Alaska. First, we had Luke Kingston, a state trooper instructor, and Seattle journalist Amanda McKendrick’s story Single In Sitka, then it was Montana-born veterinary student, Juliet Sanderson and Alaskan musher, Cody Garrison’s tale in Nome-o Seeks Juliet. Each was very different from the other but had that fulfilling HEA, A Fairbanks Affair is no less of an amazing read.
When Faye Findley, the owner of the biggest liquor importer and distributor on the East coast, meets Trevor Starling the owner of the North Star distillery (a company she wants to acquire for her own) she doesn’t know who he is.
Their attraction is instant, but Faye has plans with another man ( or so she thinks) and rejects Trevor’s advances.
But, Fate had a hand in bringing Faye to the cold North in the depths of winter and has no desire to fail. Another chance meeting has the two of them getting to know one another better and both are so in way deeper than either expected.
Trevor is still battling his feelings over a devastating betrayal and Faye came to Alaska with a simple plan. But their chemistry is strong and it’s not long before they have to face the truth.
I loved this book. I was sweet and sexy. Trevor wasn’t an in your face dominant possessive alpha, although when he made up his mind he was all in. Faye was calm, determined and strong-minded. She soothed Trevor’s rough edges and tattered heart while he ticked all the boxes for what she needed in a man.
Another fabulous addition to this wonderful series, I can’t wait to see what comes next.
4.5 stars
This is a unique, sweet, and swoony story about two work-a-holics who were absolutely NOT looking for love but could not avoid the connection even as they tried. It is part of the Odds Are Good series, but is a total stand-alone and only related by the location being Alaska.
Trevor Starling is a distillery owner that has been burned by two people he trusted the most and he is still bitter. But he also has physical needs. So he thinks one way to combat the lonely New Year’s weekend is to place a no-nonsense ad offering an intimate weekend but nothing more.
Faye Findley has been all about her family import business since losing her parents and is not really living life. Something about his ad and the looming lonely holiday pulls her in and makes her respond.
Arrangements are made. It should be a clean deal. They each get what they want and move on. But before that, Faye has other business to take care of in Alaska as well.
Their worlds collide early and unexpectedly, but with some anonymity too. They find witty rapport, common interests. unexplainable chemistry, and something to look forward to. But are they cheating on their already set up New Year’s date? All of a sudden things are a bit more complicated and that’s only the beginning.
I liked that these two were mature, intelligent, had great conversations, and dealt with their issues without a lot of time or angst. Sure they had challenges and would have to make sacrifices and choices to make it work, but it was not angsty or overly dramatic. The family dynamics added more layers to the story and were part of their growth process. It is told in both points of view and I really liked both of the main characters, even when he was being cranky. It makes you believe in timing, coincidence, or just plain fate and soulmates.
I love everything about Katy Regnery’s Odds Are Good series!! Once again I was brought into her world that I didn’t want to leave, I also fell in love people I connected with and want to revisit over and over again.
Trevor, aka Mr. Fairbanks, isn’t looking for love. He was burned in the worst possible way, not only by his ex, but also by his brother. Trevor places an ad in the Odds Are Good magazine for a discreet, intimate weekend over New Years with zero chance for love, but what he finds is more than he ever bargained for.
Faye is a successful business woman who hasn’t had time for a personal life. Losing her parents while still in college and then taking over the care of her younger sister didn’t leave room to look for love. When she spots Mr. Fairbanks advertisement it intrigues her for many reasons. First, his use of vocabulary (because big words used correctly are ultra sexy). Second, he lives in a town where she has been interested in acquiring a new distillery, the trip to Alaska will ultimately kill two birds with one stone. Third and probably most important, she’s still a virgin and losing her v-card is starting to become a ticking timebomb. Being a thirty year old virgin is a strange oddity and losing this one dreaded thing to a stranger seems better than explaining it to the next man she actually wants to date. She’s been there, done that, and it never goes well.
All goes well with the plans in place for Mr. Fairbanks and “Faith” (Faye uses an alias too) and they plan to meet the weekend of New Years. That is until Trevor and Faye meet in person the week prior and the two real people hit it off. As they get to know each other they begin to feel guilty that they have an upcoming tryst with a “stranger”. Do they keep their standing plans or keep getting to know the person in front of them? Neither planned on real feelings, but is it possible for plans to change?
Trevor and Faye and a wonderful couple together. Healing and growing in that beautiful way that Katy writes broken characters. The Fairbanks Affair is a perfect story for the holiday season.
Katy Regnery I love this book! Book 3 of the Odds are Good Series – ‘The Fairbanks Affair’ has left me with a huge smile on my face and a happy heart. What an incredible, incredible story. Faye is a hugely successful business woman. Having lost her parents in a tragic accident at a young age she took over the family business expanding it tenfold and responsibility of her younger sister. At thirty she finds herself financially secure but alone and still a virgin. A personal ad in a magazine gives her the opportunity to lose her innocence and gain some much needed experience. Trevor is a self made man. Successful in business but not in love. Catching his fiancée sleeping with his younger brother leaves him shattered and alone. Desperate for some no strings attached companionship over the holidays, he posts an ad. When these two meet unexpectedly before their New Year’s rendezvous the sparks fly. I absolutely loved how these two fell head over heels in love with each other and did not put the book down until I finished it. TBR this book straight away and fall in love with both a fantastic couple and the Alaskan backdrop of their love story. (I read an arc and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
This is the best yet of the series! Each book is a stand alone so feel free to start with this one.
I normally hate the trope of a virgin hoping to lose her virginity because so often she’s a simpering whiner while the man she picks almost forces himself on her because she has no independence. This book does NOT use this trope at all. Faye is a strong, independent woman who just hasn’t had time for relationships since the death of her parents, taking over the family business, and raising a little sister. She’s finally in a spot where she wants more for her life and decides to be proactive and rational about it. But, best laid plans are made to be broken. She instead meets a man who intrigues her intellectually as well as emotionally and physically. She realizes she needs the emotional connection.
Trevor has been burned by his fiancée and his brother and knows love will never be for him. He’s looking for emotionless sex and sets a rational plan into action. Instead, he meets a woman who intrigues him intellectually, emotionally, and physically.
When Faye and Trevor do pursue their relationship and he discovers her virginity status, he does not become the domineering, experienced lover. Instead, he continues to treat her with respect and love and treasures her. His reaction is the one we we all desire for ourselves, sisters, and daughters.
This is a HEA that has characters who are mature and smart. It leaves you happy and knowing that romance and love does exist. This may be my favorite Katy Regnery book ever!
