The moment Nathaniel Huntingwell, the newly minted Duke of Greenwich, steps into The Wild Rose Inn, a literal run-in with Daisy Tavners changes everything. Recovering from a war wound and hiding his true identity, he is constantly tested by the stubborn and opinionated eldest daughter of the innkeeper, yet he cannot seem to keep away from her.Busy running her parents’ inn, Daisy has no times for … times for secrets. And she definitely doesn’t have time for secret dukes. In fact, she wants nothing more than for the arrogant, self-righteous Mr. Hawke, as she knows him, to leave the inn and her family, for he is clearly hiding something he has no wish to share. Already left for another woman by one of the local gentry, she vows to never trust again — especially a man who treats her with such superiority.
Everything about Daisy and Nathaniel should mean they are absolutely wrong for one another. Yet the more time they spend together, the more they cannot deny that they are inexplicably drawn to one another. When Nathaniel must assume the life of a duke, however, what will happen to Daisy?
This Regency novella contains some sensual content.

This was a short sweet read. As a historical romance, it starts with the main character in the Wild Rose Inn which her parents own. Her character is one of a woman with her own mind and after being treated poorly by her last beau, she is wary of men. Then Mr. Nathaniel Hawke shows up at the Inn. Little did everyone knew he really was a duke. They thought he was just a man with an injury from the war and pain. Soon Dasiy and Nathaniel realize they were meant to be with one another every though everything about them should not suggest this. It was a good story with well-built characters. Being the first in a series, I look forward to reading more about Daisy’s sisters who are all named after a flower.
Great Book! It was a great read well worth my time. I found it original and entertaining. Daisy is like a woman of today who knows her worth but is trying to find her place like most of us are after college
The Nathaniel Huntingwell is fresh from the war. He has a horrific injury to his leg and is trying to heal without a limp. Not going so well and he feels quite dark because of it. Now some more problems have arrived. His superior has informed him he is now Duke of Greenwich and he has to leave and “rest” in a country inn due to some threats made by the enemy. He arrives at this country inn and meets Daisy along with her sisters and parents. Under the guise of Mr. Hawk, Nathaniel is used to servant doing everything for him. A country Inn should be no different. Daisy runs everything. She has no time for pampered men who expect her and her sisters to wait on him hand and foot. Ugh this is why she has no liking for the Nobility. At least Mr Hawk is not that. She is quite attractive to him and tries to help best she can. Nathan is seeing a different world while staying at the inn. He becomes quite the champion where Daisy is concerned and hates not being able to tell her the truth about himself. When his time to leave has come, he tells Daisy what he can and leaves. She is feeling betrayed once again when she learns he is a Duke. Nathan now in his new home realizes it means nothing without Daisy. It does not matter to him that she is an innkeeper’s daughter, He is a Duke now, he wants her for his wife. Daisy made it clear she dislikes nobility, can Nathaniel, DUKE of Greenwich convince her to become his Duchess?!!
A Sweet recency romance. Daisy is feisty, yet nursing an emotional wound, Nathaniel is actually wounded and is frosty as his life plan has been upended. Put the two together and you get this fun, flirty read, which leaves the door open for further books in the series.
A charming story. The quiet way they built the relationship was lovely. I truly enjoyed this book. Great ending as well.
Beautiful, uncomplicated love story! Easy read; just sit back, grab a coffee and enjoy the soothing ride!
Could not get in to this book. Complicated
Entertaining, enjoyable a must read
Fun read kinda suuprising
Nice romance in a different type of setting with smart women characters.
A bit of a different take on a regency
Daisy had some stong opinions about nobility, and based on one experience which caused her to be prejudiced. But one handsome, injured soldier, staying at her parents inn may just change her opinion.
I like this book. Hawke was suitably handsome and arrogant while Daisy was a young woman who was the backbone of her family who quite agreeably let her boss them around. With a decent amount of angst, all things come together for the best outcome
Cute story. Quick read. It did bring tears to my eyes. I wish their relationship had been developed a little more. It felt rushed. There is a very mild sex scene pre-marriage.
A quick read that covers the short relationship between Daisy and Nathaniel. Nathaniel is incognito at The Wild Rose Inn. He is hiding from French spies for a period. His commander will let him know when he can return to his civilian life as soon as he is able. From the very beginning Daisy and Nathaniel rubbed each other the wrong way. Daisy was still wary. She had been spurned by the local Baron’s son. She now has a prejudice against peerage of any type. This made things difficult between herself and Nathaniel. Over time however they came to know each other better. They started having feelings for each other. Daisy worried about what would happen when Nathaniel had to return to London and she had to stay behind. She had doubts if she was good enough for Nathaniel. Nathaniel on the other hand did not want to leave Daisy behind but he had no idea what he had to face now that his military life was over and his civilian life was unknown. He needed time to sort through everything. He asked Daisy to wait for him. Daisy felt she let herself be fooled again by a man. But she loved him. After a couple of weeks Nathaniel had an epiphany that he did indeed love Daisy and did not want to be without her. A very sweet simple story. An enjoyable read.
When Daisy bumps into Nathaniel and spills her market purchases for the family inn and he makes no move to neither apologize nor help her I knew there would be tensions between them. He has recently retired with injuries from military service and due to his last service as a spy behind enemy lines where it is possible they might come over him he is hiding out at the inn before he can assume the title of Duke of Greenwich, which he never expected due to having an uncle and cousin between him and the title. He lived a life of privilege and even with the hardships of the military he expects a certain level of service never realizing that it is left to Daisy and her sisters to perform any task he requires as her parents have let go most of the servants. He comes to understand her better when she tells him she was tossed over by the local baron for a noblewoman after it was expected he would offer marriage to Daisy. They spend time together, walking and riding to the beach and among the fields and bluebells and fall for each other. But he doesn’t tell her he is a Duke and when she finds out it causes a rift between them that he has to work hard to overcome. I loved Daisy’s sisters and look forward to their romances.
I didn’t think they’d ever get together, they disliked each other so much. I loved how they put their dislike aside and started to care for each other. Such an awesome love story. Nathaniel and Daisy have so much chemistry you can help but to read their story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
The start of a new series called The Blooming Brides, a well written story.Nathaniel Huntingwell, the newly minted Duke of Greenwich and Daisy Tavners’ story is one I enjoyed reading. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
An entertaining read, about a woman who was left for another and a battle scared man who wanted to go back to war but couldn’t , how they found each other and their insecurities they had. This was an author ARC and my honest review
I love all of her books! Amazing author… 🙂
