A god questions his existence. Deadly repercussions follow. Baldr is struggling to find his place in Asgard. His brother, Thor, guards the city and fights giants, while his father rules all the unruly Aesir. Because Baldr’s death will signal the start Ragnarok, the end of days, his family prefers him to sit at home, useless. But Baldr refuses to remain a captive of destiny, and the Norns offer … captive of destiny, and the Norns offer Baldr a solution: he can communicate with a mysterious Midgard woman via his dreams.
There is only one problem–Baldr’s dream woman wears the tattoo of another pantheon. With each communication, he threatens to break the peace treaty and spark a holy war—pitting pantheon against pantheon—with cataclysmic effects.
Of course, what his father and brother don’t know can’t hurt them, can it?

The beginnings of Baldr’s story, can he truly find his rightful place in this mixed up world.
It was an interesting start firstly wow Minerva I think ‘a woman scorned’ is an apt phrase, I was thinking while reading this story that getting a goddess of war offside is probably a really bad move.
What I loved most about this tale was all of the history interwoven through it, Tina Glasneck has a wonderful way of bringing history to life and melding old and new, who knows maybe she is the new fates for the modern age instead of 3 sisters we have just one talented storyteller who can weave the past, present and future into a truly fascinating tale.
I loved seeing this blend of the different pantheons and learning how they, like their followers, worked and fought together. The story goes by in a flash of so much action and intrigue, plots and double-crosses. It was easy for me to immerse myself in it. I adored this chance to learn more about the origins of the dragons and how Baldr and Nanna came together.

As always this story fits the bill for great world building with likeable characters and a well developed plot line.
A must read.
This is a fantastic story that gives such a different twist on the gods of the old. It is extremely well written and the the flow of the story is superb. We learn a lot about Baldr and his life before he meets his queen. It allows us to have insight to how he becomes what and who he is. Yes this is a quick read but oh so very well written. It is definitely worth reading and doesn’t disappoint.

A Dragon’s Rising is book 1 in The Dragon Series: Origins written by Tina Glasneck. Tina has the exceptional ability with words of making history interesting as she brings past, present, and future together. We learn of prophecies and how Baldr becomes who he is. This is a new twist on the old gods. The story is short but it packs a lot of history, action, betrayal, and intrigue that you are left satisfied and with the desire for more. Am anxiously looking forward to Book 2 to see what Tina has in store for us. Received a copy from Booksprout and this I my voluntary and honest review.
