This second installment of the Club Whisper series was a look into a beautiful mind, and the man who was willing to adapt to new experiences in order to experience the beauty it holds within. The characters are well developed throughout the story, and the writing is smoothly done.
Martin is an owning partner of the BDSM club, Whisper. He also owns a high-end security business with his sister, who seems to be as intimidating a Dom as Martin himself. Martin’s dream has been to find a sub who is completely dependent upon him; his domination, his rules, his money, and in the deepest part of his heart, his love.
Collin is living barely above the poverty level, living off of the meager income his art brings. His best and only friend, Jude, is his agent, and makes sure he follows a strict schedule producing his art, which confuses the truly innocent and trusting Collin, but he tries his best to keep his friend happy. Collin is a very sweet and optimistic young man, despite his circumstances, but Jude has told him his behavior is too odd for normal people to put up with; which obviously is why he doesn’t have any friends beside Jude.
When circumstances bring Collin into Martin’s world of routine and structure, Martin is intrigued and somewhat taken aback by the whirlwind of words and thoughts and different ways of thinking that flow from Collin’s mouth; mostly all in one go. When their first date is interrupted by Collin’s need to follow his muse, Martin starts to recognise that this is something completely different than his typical MO. But, in a very short time, the two men find themselves in love.
While dating and getting to know each other, the subject of Martin’s lifestyle never came up. Martin fears sweet, innocent Collin’s reaction, but it’s definitely not what he is expecting. Although he handles the situation in an unsatisfactory manner in the opinion of Collin and Martin’s best friend, business partner, and fellow Dom, Richard, things work out in the end.
In comes what is a very obvious, yet still a good part of the plot. I have to admit, I was rather upset with Martin for not following his instincts before the problem was handed to him on a silver platter. I mean he runs a security firm and knows something sketchy is going down. But, when all is said and done, Collin is the one who determines the way the situation is handled, much to everyone’s consternation.
In the end, although it is not the life either man envisioned for themselves, through communication and experimentation, they find their own unique way of living the BDSM life they can both find satisfying. And of course, they also find their HEA.
Happy reading!

A Dom and His Artist is the second book in the Club Whisper series by Xenia Melzer. This is a bit of an insta-love story with a BDSM tint. The intriguing artist, Collin, and the owner of a security firm and BDSM club, Martin, hit it off right away, surprising Martin when he is drawn to the man who doesnt fit his usual type.
I really liked these characters and their interactions. Collin is adorable and I totally get how his brain works. I really felt for him at times. Martin is pretty great too, he really cares for Collin and is protective.
Their story is interesting and entertaining. There is drama, a little humor and a dash of BDSM… and lots of sweet love. I cant wait to see what the next book will be like.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
I really enjoyed reading this entertaining & slightly emotional MM romance. It has a well thought-out story-line with an interesting, well-written plot. The complex characters have individual personalities that are quite unique, one of the main characters seems to be a introvert with a slight disability & does not do to well in a social setting, while the other main character protects & looks after him. There is good support from the secondary characters. There are some characters crossovers from the previous book “A Dom & his Writer” but this book is complete & standalone.
There is: a experience Dom (Martin) is searching for the right partner & meets a talented artistic but insecure young man (Collin) while being stranded on the side of the road & the attractions flare, Martin’s sister (Olivia), a apparent friend & agent (Jude), a loving guard dog/companion, a unexpected situation, strange attractions, insecurities, sibling teasing, caring friends, some twists, drama, mystery, verbal conflict, friendly advice, conflicting emotions, hurtful accusations, some domination/submission, BDSM scenes, verbal banter, discovery, suspicions, investigations, deceit, betrayal, emotional turmoil, anxiety, vengeful feelings, compromises, love, contentment & a sweet happy ending. I look forward to future books from this talented author.
I’m binge reading this series and started out of order because this title really grabbed my attention. I was looking for something light and this works.
Collin is so sweet and trusting with a big heart. He rambles because his brain takes so many side trips and makes amazing connections so fast it’s hard to keep up with him. Which makes him utterly charming and ripe for Martin’s picking!
This story is sweet and really light on the BDSM sex because Collin is, unsurprisingly, a virgin. Instead, we get the Dom side of the equation doing the soul-searching. Martin has to be Dom-enough to take on Collin. We see him reaching out to his support network and that was pretty cool.
So yeah, I recommend this book for anyone interested in a slow smolder and high relationship-building story.
When Martin gets stranded Cullen rescues him. Martin is impressed at how Collin really sees him. Together they begin to build something. I like the fact that Collin is allowed to make his own stand and was already pushing back before all of the truths were revealed.

You don’t need to read the first book to enjoy this story, but it will enhance it if you do because you will know the back story of some of the characters in the book. Martin and Collin are so different but work so well together. I love Collin’s innocence and love for life and willingness to try things. Martin is so patient and kind with Collin that you can’t help but fall in love with these two. Add in Dog and you have a perfect family. There is some drama with Collin’s friend Jude, that was wrapped up fast and too nice – he deserved worse. I hope we get to see more of Martin and Collin in future books.
