Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont.

I thought the book was good but not as good as I was expecting. Parts of it really dragged and other parts were rushed. I liked the story and the descriptive writing style, but I couldn’t really get into the book till the last third of it. I’d give it 3 1/2 stars.
This book was just tedious to slog through. I finished it, but will not read another book by this author. main characters were about as interesting as a piece of chalk. I kept hoping the fact that the writer wanted to tell us over and over how the one of the characters liked her tea, or how she spent her morning would be significant and have some grand payoff. It wasn’t and it didn’t. The “hero” of this book was just plain awful. Men (vampires…whatever) like this guy are just the worst. If you feel compelled to read this book, wait until you can get it for free, because even $0.99 is $0.99 too much to pay for this.
Loved it. Couldn’t put it down.
It took me two days to read this book; could not put it down. Well written and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now for her second book.
Loved this book!
Lovded this series. It took me about 5 chapters to get into this book but when I did, I couldn’t put it down. It takes you on a journey that feels like you are there, with the characters every step of the way. The twist the author put on how we look at the supernatural was refreshing.
I really enjoyed this story. The main characters were mature (not old, just grownup!) There are a lot of YA heroines/heros in this genre, so it is refreshing to to find an excellent story written with adult characters. And this story is excellent! Well written, good pace, interesting romance, great characters, suspenseful . . . it took quite a while to get this one out of my head. That’s the sign of a good book. I am waiting for deals on the next books of the series. I wish they were on Kindle Unlimited!
I had seen this book so many times in the library that I finally decided to pick it up one day, and I did not regret it. It is a thick book, but don’t let that discourage you. It was one of the most original ideas I have ever read, and I couldn’t put it down. As soon as I finished I immediatley got the second and third book in the trilogy. It began to resemble a more popular teen book in the romance department at some points *cough Twillight cough* but as someone who read that in it’s heyday I picked up on some of the similarities in the ‘neediness’ of the relationship more quickly than others I know who have also read the book. BUT looking past that, the story itself is incredibly entertaining and VERY original. My biggest qualm was the relationship and how quickly it moved, but I guess that’s just how Vamps operate, lol. I’ve now read the trilogy all the way through twice, and I plan on going back to it again. If you want something unique, supernatural, and with a dash of romance, this book is for you!
One of the best ook series I’ve read in a long time. Each book can stand alone but better if read sequentially. Audio version is well done.
Wonderful
I fell in love with this series and the characters. Beautifully written, enthralling, and better with each book. Highly recommend if you enjoy history mixed with fantasy.
Currently my favorite Series.
Although I found it dragged a bit in the beginning chapters, this book was fantastic. I loved the drama and mystery surrounding the Ashmole manuscript even while the romance was developing. I also liked how neither creature noticed the romance blooming until it was full grown! Sometimes books with a lot of history or other educational aspects will bore me, or I’ll struggle with them, but Harkness added in her history and alchemical aspects in a way that, although I was a bit lost at times, it never failed to be entertaining. The second I finished I just HAD to start on book two. I fear it will be a disappointment when I finish book two and don’t have book three to immediately start!
I had heard a lot about this book and how good it was, but I could not get into the story or even like the characters.
OMG, other than Harry Potter, this is the BEST book. I love it! The other two in the series are good, but not as great as this one. Book number three is also great and leaves you wanting a fourth book.
boring
I never thought that I would be so intrigued by a book with witches, vampires and daemons. But I loved it!
I enjoyed this series so much a read it a second time to catch all the details I missed the first time.
What a wonderful Adventure!
there wasn’t interesting to me in this book I was expecting something different all together I didn’t pay much that is a good thing
