Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont.

Great read for those of you who enjoy the wicken, vampire genre.
Great read!
Supurb writing, excellent storyline, she has done it again
Loved this series. The author truly knows how to write a compelling store. I was hooked from the first chapter.
I have to admit i like the tv series better..some of the trilogy just seemed to drag on in some places for me, but to each his own i say
I have read all of the books in the ALL SOULS TRILOGY and loved each and everyone. Fans of the paranormal, witches, vampires and history will hate when they’ve finished the third book, you’ll want number 4!
Worth reading.
took a while to get going but in the end I really enjoyed it. Unique plot.
This whole trilogy is fantastic!
Great tension between Diana and Matthew. Really loved the historical detail. Fascinating read!
After having finished reading the ‘All Souls’ trilogy, I certainly had a feeling that I would miss no longer following its characters. In a life where Diana is searching for her true potential and purpose, she battles to thrive amongst other witches, demons and vampires. Diana falls in love with Matthew, who has a great deal on his plate trying to keep people around him alive as well as battling with his blood-rage. This gives him a sense of ‘undying love’ and a respectable hero feel that makes my heart melt.
Deborah Harkness…an amazing writer and even better story-teller. If you love paranormal, history, even a vamp or two, check out this amazing book!
The main female character was one of those dumb ones that don’t know that everything is not about her and what she wants to say or do. This kind of female is very annoying to read about because the author also wants you to think she’s smart and competent. She may be smart, but is certainly not competent or much of a thinker (other than when she’s reading a book).
This is what it is to stick to your own words and not let someone else change your mind.
Engrossing, mature, supernatural romance. An historian witch, who has rejected magic, discovers a magical manuscript while conducting research at Oxford’s Bodleian Library. This act attracts the attention of a 1,500-year-old vampire, as well as a number of far less desirable characters. This book is the first in a trilogy and would have earned a 5-star rating if not for the exhaustingly tedious descriptions of food and clothing interfering with the flow of an otherwise highly enjoyable novel. Still recommended!
A wonderful series!!!!
Good characters, a little romance but not overbearing and moves fast enough to make it a good read
One of my favourite books!
Love the details from the universities from the the author. Story was great and original. Lot going on in this book yet it didn’t make me feel overwhelmed. (It did make me think about going into rowing though)
Yes, this is about witches and vampires…. but Deborah Harkness is obviously a scholar. She sure knows her history and this story (the first of the All Souls trilogy) takes you right there. It’s a real page-turner. The intelligent treatment of a paranormal subject is leagues above and beyond any Stephanie Meyer story. She simply is using the vampire/witch legends to treat us to an exciting historical romantic adventure.
It all starts in the Bodleian…
I devoured this book and its two sequels in less than two weeks.Shadow of Night The Book of Life
