Book 5 of the Marsden Romance series has Pearla you may remember her from book four of the series. Pearla had been left with no groom when his wife had returned from the dead. To get away from the scandal she leaves London. Along the way she meets Damian who just happens to be the brother of woman who came back from the dead. I really liked this one it was an exciting story. You get a taste of it at the end of book 4. You will love who the villain is in this one talk about a cool twist. This has been a fun series to read. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
When Pearla’s wedding to the Duke of Huntly is interrupted by his wife’s return she is heartbroken so she decides to sail to Charleston but she meets Damian who is the brother to the Duke of Huntly. Damian knows she is what he has been looking for and nothing can stop him from getting what he wants if only he can convince her of his love.

Love historical romance stories especially when it involves adventures on the high seas. Unfortunately, this book left me wanting. Wanting less fake/phony talk from Damian when trying to woo Pearla. Yes. It’s a work of fiction but I just couldn’t see a woman as smart as Pearla swallowing some of what he said. Eventually Damian shows some backbone but then Pearla cannot make up her mind. Some chapters could have been eliminated (or whittled down) as they were unnecessary to the story overall.
