Nothing less than pure love and trust will win over the woman he is determined to have as his own.Fianna is a different kind of woman. She’s built her life around solitude and caring for those who have been damaged by others. She is one of those damaged souls. She has been hurt so deeply, she doesn’t believe love can exist for her. Men can’t be trusted, people can’t be trusted, and that leaves … trusted, and that leaves her with her wild creatures. She has chosen to isolate herself, and remain with the animals she loves, and the horses that have been injured beyond what most men can fix. She can feel their fear and pain; can understand it, and help. Being a receptor of second sight frightens most, but she must live a life of sometimes knowing the wonder, and the evil of the future. The problem is sometimes she knows the future, but other times it is as surprising and shocking to her as it is to those around her.
Fianna agrees to work with a father she doesn’t trust, and tolerate a spoiled half-sister to pay a life debt. She has already seen what is coming, although she doesn’t know when. She doesn’t know her father’s business, and when Quinn Russell and his cousin come to the ranch, she gets little or no warning of what is about to change her life.
Most people fear what they can’t understand, but not Quinn Russell. One glance at the tiny free spirit, and he’s captivated. Where others see strange, he sees beauty both outside and in. Dealing with a walking, breathing barometer of true feelings is going to mean he has to let down his guard. He has to let her see the man he is, the man he wants to be. Only then may he have a chance of winning her heart.
Publisher’s Note: This steamy Western romance contains elements of action, adventure, and power exchange.

What an Awesome trip to the old West! A Different Kind of Woman is an epic tale of the Russell and O’Toole families. It’s a rollercoaster roster rider of a tangled web of lies and deceit, full of heart- wrenching twist and turns that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. Each and every character came to life and you find yourself drawn into their story. The scenes are so strikingly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story. Quinn is strong, sure, and will fight for those he loves. Fianna is spunky, outspoken, talented, and yet lonely, inhibited and unsure, in other words, genuine. Both are so well developed you feel every emotion that they are feeling throughout their story and become very endearing as the love progresses. With sizzling, red hot passion, trials and tribulations, adventure, drama, and the gamut of emotions from despair and grief to joy and ecstasy. Outstanding historical romance by Mariella Starri. A MUST Read!!

A well-written historic story of woman burned too many times and wants nothing to do with anyone and is happy with her animals. The characters in the book are amazing and they grow together after a few clashes and realize they are stronger together than apart. It is not an easy road but they finally come to understanding. HEA must be worked for

A steamy, heart-filled historical western…
I love jumping back in time to the Old West and this sexy romance had all the cowboy I crave…
Fianna and Quinn butted head, hearts and ranching styles! They sparked from the beginning and I loved how their personalities meshed and they fit so well together.
The characters were bold and in Fianna’s case, and her new sisters in spirit, trailblazing a trail for women’s rights and standing in a time when they had few. Quinn chose to stand with her, rather than ahead. He had a firm hand but that worked for both of them. And oh did it work…
Danger, adventure, horses galore and a romance that was sweet and spicy in turn. This is a long book, double the standard length of a novel. Yes, there was some repetition of details, however the story filled every corner with an unusual courtship and, in the latter half, a family-fueled relationship that never lost my attention.
A great read that has put this author on my “look out for” shelf!

A fantastic story about a woman with second sight. Loved her character, her sister definintely not. Talk about mean and cruel. Then a stranger shows up with his cousin to buy the ranch. Her drunken father doesn’t have a clue whats going on. Love and hope a beautiful story.
A different kind of woman – that describes Fianna to a tee! She’s strong and independent, prefers her animals over most people, and eschews “women’s work”. When Quinn comes to town, her sister Eleanor has designs on roping him in, and does so – or thinks that she does. A case of identity swap has her interested in his cousin James. Quinn only has eyes for Fianna. I love their journey. He’s absolutely devoted to her, and she to him, and they have amazing chemistry. And he doesn’t hesitate to administer discipline when she deserves it. This is a long book, but one well worth reading. The story line never dragged or became boring. I’ve read several books by this author – she never disappoints!

This was not the book I was expecting it to be. Firstly, there’s a lot of story here. I could almost even say there’s a lot of stories in this book. To me, it felt a lot like reading a season of a TV show. Something bad would happen, they’d find a solution, but the book wasn’t over. Something else bad would happen, they’d find another solution, but the book still wasn’t over. And so on. Now, I’m used to the traditional method of storytelling where there’s a beginning, a middle, and then the end. I’m not used to this more literary format where there isn’t that specific a focus to the plot line. I enjoyed it, it just wasn’t what I was used to. I loved Fianna. She’s definitely not the typical lady of the day and age, and I loved her even more because of it. I loved Quinn’s fierce loyalty to the one’s he loves. Though I did think his punishing Fianna for being Fianna was a bit overboard.
