Adrienne Blake, author of the delightful “Spelling Bee” returns with an all-new adventure.
Tamara Candlewick, an unlucky in love single mom, is roped into chaperoning a field trip for her daughter Pike’s School. Leading the pack is smokin’ hot principal, Carter Wells, a wizard who finds himself increasingly attracted to Tamara, even though she disapproves of his risk-taking teaching methods.
… methods.
But the course of true love does not flow smoothly! Beset by dragons, foibles, and bad luck as well as the interference of a natty Norwegian parent and another horny school governor, this tale features dragons, spells, love, and merriment.
A DIFFERENT CLASS OF MAGIC is the perfect sequel to Spelling Bee, which introduced the more comical side of Misty Cedars. This book is for any fan of romance, wizardry, and, of course, love!

This was a fun, quick read about a field trip for the students of the Magic Academy. There are dragons involved so what could possibly go wrong? Then add in teen angst, a mystery, some romance and a hunky dragon shifter. I really enjoyed this story and I hope the author revisits the lighter side of Misty Cedars again.
A Different Class of Magic has Tamara and Pike facing several hard choices. Both witches are very capable and I love their Mother- Daughter relationship. I do feel that although the book was exciting, I wished that there could be more. Reading this book does not require the need to read the previous books in the series, but it would still be helpful. All readers will be pleased that they selected this book to read.

I love so much this Misty Cedar witches, Tamara is so funny and such a great mom, and Pike is an awesome girl!! Seeing Tamara having always weird adventures and now dragons??? What is not to like?
This is a great novella with witches, dragons, a school field trip led by a wizard, teenagers, familiars, and things that can go wrong, that definitely do go wrong despite the headmasters (read wizard) assurances to the contrary! I loved this sequel to the short book Spelling Bee where we first meet Tamara Candlewick, a witch, her daughter Pike, and the headmaster of the school Pike attends, Carter Wells who is also a wizard. Adrienne Blake has a real gift in writing a delightful book featuring controlled chaos laden with teenage angst, an attraction between the two supposed adults Tamara and Carter (despite a number of first dates broken by Carter), and imminent disaster always being right around the next corner! My favorite author list has had another name added to it, that is for sure!!

Tamara has been stood up twice for dates by the new Headmaster. And for emergencies that could have been delegated. If it was really important to him to spend time with her, he could have worked something out, right? Or rescheduled in the interim- several months later.
Her daughter Pike has also lately been uncharacteristically quiet. Concerns about boys, makeup or monies for a talking familiar might have something to do with that
When a school field trip to a dragon den is proposed , things get exciting- and fiery- in more than one instance, and in more ways than one.
Fun and insightful magical and personal action and adventure!
I really enjoyed this book, it was fun to read and te characters were good. I like the story of Tamara and Pike. I would recommend this book.

Magic, mayhem and dragons! With A Different Class of Magic, the author continues with the characters started in Spelling Bee. This time she delves more into the magical lives of Tamara, her daughter, Pike, and headmaster, Carter. And there’s the addition of dragons, shifters, teen angst, and familiars. I definitely enjoyed the way the author shifted from funny to heartfelt to scary moments and back again. Hope to read more about Misty Cedars in the future. This book was formerly titled Magic and Mayhem Academy and was part of the Queens of Wings and Storms anthology.
A field trip to see real live, fire breathing dragons! Lucky kids! Of course things never go to plan, but hey, makes the story more interesting! This was so much fun to read! No one died, but there was still a surprising element to the story. I’m really looking forward to more!

The writing is good, but I don’t feel like much really happened.
This book is only a 100+ pages, but it felt extremely longer. A single mother, who happens to be a witch, but spends most of her time thinking about the hot principal who stood her up for a couple of dates.
I did like the addition of the shifters and also the story of the dragons, but it may have been better if I knew the different types of supernatural creatures existed in this world. Or maybe not.
I don’t know it just feel flat for me.
Our heroine is interested in our hero, but he keep breaking dates. So when she is invited to chaperon on a school trip with him, she thinks this might be her best chance. But what can really happen with all those kids around?
This is book two of the series but it works just fine as a standalone. All the essential bits are presented very quickly.
Let’s call this a paranormal romance sort of blended with a cozy mystery. We have witches and wizards as well as dragons and fae, plus lots of chaos. Everything you expect on a school trip, right? The story is very well written, easy to read and lots of fun. There really is everything you would expect on a school trip including lots of chaos and a good dose of humor. The story was very engaging and hard to put down once I got started. Overall, an excellent read and I look forward to more in this series.
Highly recommended

A DIFFERENT CLASS OF MAGIC is the second book in the Misty Cedars series. Each book will stand alone. This is the fourth book in the Misty Cedars world, the second in the comical side which is to say that it’s all about the Margaret Beauchamps School of Magic for Boys and Girls.
This is one of those books where I can’t tell you *why* I love it without giving away the spoilers. So, I’m going to kind of vague-post and hope you get the why without the specifics.
The story is cute, without being a “sweet romance.” There is a tiny bit of steam, but it’s not hot and heavy. There are shifters and witches, and it’s all about the powers and magic. It’s also about family, familiars, taking risks, and acceptance. By the end, I was feeling good… and hoping the next book isn’t too far away.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I really enjoyed this book.its a charming story of a witch, Tamara, chaperoning her daughter Pike’s academy field trip to learn about and see a dragon! It’s perfectly safe according to the principal who has also stood-up Tamara twice. Should she believe him? Is he trustworthy with her daughter’s safety? It turns out , there are several secrets haunting this trip. How will they effect everyone?

A charming story if a mom and daughter growing up and apart. The teenage angst we all face boundaries, wants and desires. Will she or won’t she. Mom wants to be there but is wise enough to let her child talk without jumping in. Giving her space to step up and confide. I really liked the family dynamics of this book. Some romance and action with some really likeable characters. Want to see what next. I received ARC copy from Booksprout and this is my honest opinion.
Tamara Candlewick is a single-mom witch who is helping with chaperoning a school field trip her daughter is attending to see a dragon den. The principal, Carter Wells, is a wizard and assures them this trip is absolutely safe. Of course his assurances are not always reliable – he has already stood Tamara up on several dates. So it’s a pretty sure bet that things won’t go smoothly! Will they get everyone home safely?
The reader will be pulled all over the place with this crazy story. Go on the fun, magical school trip with Tamara. With Carter Wells assuring your safety, what can go wrong?
